TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference announced its 2023-2024 Men's Tennis All-Conference teams on Wednesday. Teams are nominated and selected by the league's 10 head coaches.
Player of the Year: Jesse Faro (Drew University)
Rookie of the Year: Arsen Tabaldyev (Juniata College)
Coaching Staff of the Year: Goucher College
Drew University's Jesse Faro earned the recognition of Landmark Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Year. Faro is Drew's second Player of the Year selection in a row after Avi Perera won the award last season.
The sophomore from Livingston, N.J., finished the season with a record of 10-8 in singles matches and an impressive 15-8 in doubles. In conference play, he was 6-1 in singles and a perfect 8-0 in doubles play. Along with his doubles partner Daniel Arcari, the two won 12 straight doubles victories in the spring season alone. Faro's dynamic play and focus helped Drew rattle off six straight victories and a spot in the Landmark Conference Championship.
Arsen Tabaldyev emerged as a standout newcomer, clinching the title of Rookie of the Year. He is the second Rookie of the Year selection from Juniata College since Illia Buralkin won the award in 2019. Tabaldyev posted a 13-6 record in singles matches and 11-8 in doubles, teaming up primarily with Arthur DeYoung. His remarkable performance in conference play, boasting a 7-2 record in singles and 6-3 in doubles positioned himself as the top first-year player in the conference.
Head Coach Clay Allen and Goucher College are the 2023-2024 Men's Tennis Coaching Staff of the Year. In only his third season at the helm for the Gophers, Allen's squad finished the regular season 14-8, his best season at Goucher thus far and the most wins since 2018-2019, and won their sixth Landmark Men's Tennis Championship last weekend.
