Scranton Field Hockey Ends Historic Season with NCAA First Round Loss at Bowdoin, 7-0

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The University of Scranton field hockey team saw its 2025 season come to a close on Wednesday, falling to Bowdoin College, 7-0, in the First Round of the NCAA Division III Tournament at Ryan Field.

How It Happened
  • After a scoreless opening quarter, Bowdoin struck three times in the second period to take control of the match. 
  • The Polar Bears added two goals in both the third and fourth quarters to secure the win and advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
  • Scranton's best chance came in the third quarter when Shana Goldsmith registered the team's lone shot on goal. 
  • Defensively, Kiera Lamb recorded a key defensive save in the fourth quarter, while goalkeeper MacLean Thuermer made seven saves, including a diving stop on a penalty stroke in the fourth period, to help limit the Bowdoin attack.
