Jackson Hicks of Catholic University Named Men's S&D Senior Scholar-Athlete

TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference annually recognizes 23 Senior Scholar-Athletes, honoring one student-athlete from each sport for excellence in both academics and athletic achievements.

To qualify, nominees must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletic directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, athletic communications personnel, and diversity, equity, and inclusion designees.

Jackson Hicks becomes the fifth Catholic University men’s swimming and diving student-athlete to earn Senior Scholar-Athlete honors, joining Caleb Capozella (2014), Guido Saccaggi (2017), Patrick Jones (2018), and Jeffrey Schriefer-Flores (2022).

An architecture major, Hicks compiled an impressive list of athletic achievements, earning 16 All-Conference honors—including two First Team, 11 Second Team, and three Honorable Mention selections. He recorded an NCAA B Cut time in the 200 breaststroke (2:03.99) during the 2021-22 season and was a member of two program-record relay teams: the 200 medley relay (1:32.93) and 800 freestyle relay (6:54.19).

Outside the pool, Hicks has gained professional experience through internships with O’Brien & Keane Architecture and David M. Schwartz Architects, where he currently works part-time. He has also earned recognition for his architectural work, including the Best Addition for Heritage Project award. Additionally, he is active in the community, volunteering as a swim school instructor and a vacation Bible school teacher.

Academically, Hicks maintains a 3.60 GPA and has been recognized as a 2022 CSCAA Second Team Scholar All-American and a 2023-24 CSC Academic All-District selection. Following graduation, he plans to pursue a graduate degree.
