TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference selects 23 senior scholar-athletes annually, recognizing students in each sport and considering both academic and athletic achievements.
These honorees must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are chosen by a committee comprising Landmark Conference officers, athletic directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, athletic communications personnel, and diversity, ethnicity, and inclusion designees.
Calis Nguyen of Goucher College has been selected as the Landmark Conference's 2024-25 Men's Tennis Senior Scholar-Athlete. He becomes the fifth Gopher to receive this honor.
On the court, Nguyen was a key contributor to one of the most successful eras in program history, helping the Rangers win three Landmark Conference championships. He earned four All-Conference honors during his career, including Second Team recognition in singles and doubles as a sophomore, First Team in doubles and Second Team in singles as a junior, and First Team in doubles as a senior.
A double major in Economics and Data Science, Nguyen holds a 3.72 GPA and was named to the Landmark All-Academic Team in 2023-24. His academic excellence reflects a strong commitment to balancing rigorous coursework with athletic achievement.
Nguyen also served as a team captain and provided steady leadership during a period of transition, guiding the program through a coaching change while maintaining a high standard of performance and team cohesion.
