No. 18 Moravian Falls to No. 24 Randolph-Macon (Va.) 1-0 in Deciding Game of 2025 NCAA Super Regional

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The No. 18 Moravian University softball team fell to No. 24 Randolph-Macon (Va.) College, 1-0, in the deciding game of the 2025 NCAA Division III Bethlehem (Pa.) Super Regional at Blue & Grey Field Saturday as the Greyhounds end the 2025 season.

How It Happened
  • The Yellow Jackets batted as the home team with a coin flip per NCAA policy after Friday's split between the squads forced the if necessary contest
  • The game was a pitcher's duel between Moravian junior Sarah DeStefano and Randolph-Macon's Gracie Ellis for the second straight day after the pair dueled for 12 innings in the first game of the Super Regional on Friday
  • The game would be scoreless through six innings before the Yellow Jackets walked off the win in the bottom of the seventh with a bases loaded sacrifice fly to send Randolph-Macon to the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championship Finals at Illinois Wesleyan University with action beginning on Thursday, May 29
  • The Yellow Jackets left runners on base in the first, third, and fourth innings with two of them left in scoring position before getting a single and two walks in the bottom of the seventh to load the bases with one out before left fielder Jacey Ramos hit a sacrifice fly to right field for the only run of the contest
  • The Hounds had just two base runners in the game with senior first baseman Lindsey Gawrys drawing a walk in the fourth inning and a pinch-hit single by freshman Kaley Hoffman in the sixth when the Blue & Grey stranded a runner in scoring position
  • DeStefano, who pitched 18.2 innings and tossed 261 pitches in less than 24 hours, allowed three hits and three walks to go with one strikeout
  • Ellis, who entered the contest second in NCAA Division III in strikeouts and the leader in shutouts, recorded 11 strikeouts and allowed the Hounds just one hit and one walk in her 14th shutout of the spring

Inside the Numbers
  • Moravian had a hit from Hoffman for the squad's only hit in the contest
