Five Landmark Men's Lacrosse Players Named USILA Scholar All-Americans

TOWSON, Md. - Five Landmark Conference men’s lacrosse student-athletes have been recognized as United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Scholar All-Americans for their outstanding achievements both on the field and in the classroom. From Drew University, Luke Bruther and Mike DeMayo earned the honor, becoming the fifth and sixth players in program history to receive the award. Zachariah Palinkas from The University of Scranton also garnered Scholar All-American recognition. Additionally, Chris Ciccarello and Brennan Lorence of Susquehanna University were selected to round out the Landmark honorees.

To be eligible for the Scholar All-America award, a student-athlete must be a senior in academic standing, hold at least a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average, and receive honors at the conference or national level for their success on the field.

Luke Bruther, a Psychology major, was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team and the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. An All-Landmark Second Team selection, Bruther tallied 43 points (29 goals, 14 assists) this season, including a five-goal performance against Lycoming and an overtime game-winner versus Immaculata in the Leanos Cup. He finished his career with 70 points on 48 goals and 22 assists.

Mike DeMayo, a Business major, also earned CSC Academic All-District honors and a spot on the Landmark Academic Honor Roll. An All-Landmark Second Team selection, DeMayo led Drew in goals (46), assists (40), and points (86) this season. He finished his career ranked third in school history in points (260) and goals (152), and he holds the program record for assists (108). DeMayo was also selected as the Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men’s lacrosse.

Zachariah Palinkas, a Finance major, excelled on the field and in the classroom. The Emmaus, Pa., native was named an Honorable Mention All-American, earned All-Region honors, and was selected the Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-Landmark Conference honoree.

Chris Ciccarello, a Finance major, led the River Hawks with a team-high 61 goals and added 32 assists for 93 total points. He tallied three six-goal games throughout the season, including key wins over Penn College, Lebanon Valley, and Goucher, and added a pair of five-goal performances against Immaculata and Wilkes. Ciccarello was also named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team and was forwarded for consideration for CSC Academic All-America honors. He earned Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll recognition for the third time in his career.

Brennan Lorence, an Earth and Environmental Sciences major, finished the season as Susquehanna’s second-leading scorer with 39 goals and three assists for 42 total points. Lorence made history as the Landmark Conference’s all-time career goals leader with 192 and became the first player in program history to surpass 200 career points, finishing with 230. He opened the year on fire, scoring 13 goals in his first three games, and added two more four-goal games in March. Lorence was named to the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll for the third time in his career.
