Friday Focus with Rachel Troutman

TOWSON, Md. - Every Friday, the Landmark Conference spotlights one of our standout student-athletes in the Friday Focus Series. This week’s feature highlights Rachel Troutman, a senior on the Elizabethtown College field hockey team. From balancing athletics with her Occupational Therapy studies to caring for her show cows, Rachel gives us a glimpse into what drives her on and off the field.

Why did you choose Elizabethtown College?
They have an amazing Occupational Therapy program

What’s something you've learned from being part of a team?
To handle whatever is hard in your life and to keep going, because your teammates need you and they’re going through hard things too

What is the most challenging part of balancing athletics and academics?
Finding time for myself

Who do you play for — what or who drives you?
I play for my parents, but also for myself. I just want to do the best I can for them and to push myself

Favorite Landmark Conference opponent, and why?
Drew University. They are always so kind and respectful

If your sport had/has walk-up music, what would/is yours?
Brass Monkey by the Beastie Boys

What’s one thing you’re proud of off the field?
All the work I’ve put into caring for my show cows
