Catholic Extends Lead as Friday Finals Continue at Men’s S&D Championships

BALTIMORE, Md. - Friday’s session at the 2026 Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships featured tight races, standout swims, and key team points across the board as the men’s competition continued.

Catholic University controlled the distance event, sweeping the top three spots in the 500 freestyle. Shawn Mashburn won in 4:40.64, edging teammate John Holler (4:40.66), while Hank McGuire placed third to complete the sweep. The Cardinals also picked up a win in the 200 IM, where Sean Kelty touched first in 1:52.87.

The 50 freestyle produced the closest finish of the night. Drew University’s Brendan Burkett and Nicholas Heinio-Widell tied for first at 20.81, sharing the title after a simultaneous finish.

On the boards, Gabriel Hermann added another victory with a winning score of 407.10 in 3-meter diving.

Drew closed the night with a relay win in the 400 medley relay, finishing in 3:22.46 to secure the final event of the session.

The competition continues on Saturday, February 14, with preliminaries beginning at 10:00 a.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m. Full weekend coverage can be found here.
