Final Four Set: Landmark Women’s Basketball Semifinals Start Thursday

Winners Will Advance to Championship on Saturday, Feb. 28

TOWSON, Md. — The Landmark Conference Women’s Basketball Championship continues Thursday, February 26, with the semifinal round. Four teams will battle for a spot in the title game, with top seed University of Scranton hosting Catholic University and Susquehanna University welcoming Elizabethtown College.

Game No. 1 — #3 Elizabethtown College at #2 Susquehanna University | (Digital Tickets Only)
Elizabethtown advanced to the semifinals after defeating Drew, 80-72 in overtime, in the opening round and is making its fifth straight semifinal appearance in the Landmark Conference Championship. The Blue Jays rank fourth in the conference in scoring offense (67.6 ppg) and sixth in scoring defense (60.7 ppg). On the boards, they rank second in rebounding (42.0 rpg), third in blocked shots (4.08 per game), and average 6.85 steals per contest.  Elizabethtown is seeking its first championship game appearance since the 2022-23 season.

Susquehanna will host a semifinal game for the first time in program history. The River Hawks enter at 21-4 overall and 14-4 in conference play, setting the program’s Landmark season wins record while posting their most overall victories since 1991-92. They rank second in the league in scoring offense (73.0 ppg) and second in scoring defense (56.4 ppg). The River Hawks split the regular-season series with Elizabethtown, falling 59-56 on the road before earning a 75-62 victory at home. Susquehanna looks to advance to its first Landmark Championship game in program history.

Game No. 2 — #4 Catholic University at #1 University of Scranton | (Digital Tickets Only)
Catholic advanced to the semifinals with a 76-65 victory over Moravian in the opening round. The Cardinals rank third in the Landmark Conference in scoring offense (70.2 ppg) and fourth in scoring defense (58.7 ppg).

Scranton, the tournament’s top seed, has never missed a postseason and has held the top seed in all but five seasons in conference history. The Lady Royals pace the league and rank second nationally in scoring offense at 81.1 points per game, while also topping both the conference and the country in scoring defense at 42.4 points per game, resulting in the widest scoring margin in the conference and in the nation. Scranton swept the regular-season series, winning 71-41 at home and 78-40 on the road, with the most recent meeting on February 21. Thursday marks the first semifinal meeting between the programs, though they have faced off nine times previously in the championship game.
