Scranton Women's Tennis Advances to Landmark Conference Championship

SCRANTON, Pa. - The top-seeded University of Scranton women's tennis team advanced to the Landmark Conference Championship match with a 4-1 victory over No. 4 seed Drew University on Thursday afternoon at the Birchwood Racquet Club.

With the win, the defending Landmark Conference Champions improve to 13-3 on the season and move one step closer to repeating as conference champions.

Scranton opened the match by claiming the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. The pairing of Sarah Crawford and Gisele Falzone earned a 6-1 win at the top spot, while Kyleigh McNulty and Erin O'Mara secured a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles.

The Royals carried that momentum into singles play, where Sarah Crawford earned a dominant 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles. Gisele Falzone then clinched the match for Scranton with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles.

Hannah Rowan also picked up a straight-set victory at No. 4 singles, winning 6-4, 6-2.

Drew earned its lone point at No. 5 singles, while matches at No. 3 and No. 6 singles were left unfinished.

Scranton will now advance to the Landmark Conference Championship match on Saturday, May 2, at the Central PA Tennis Center. The Royals will face the winner of the other semifinal matchup between No. 2 seed Moravian University and No. 3 seed Catholic University.
