Catholic Women's Golf Finishes Season at Day Two of the NCAA Championships

PALM DESERT, Calif.  – The Catholic women's golf team's season came to a close on Wednesday afternoon on day two at the NCAA Championships. As a team, the Cardinals finished with a score of 678 which is the lowest two-day score in program history at the championships.

After shooting a 77 yesterday, Brooke Smith shaved a stroke off her round two score with a 76 (+4) to finish in the top half of the field. She recorded her first birdie of the round on the 325-yard par four second hole and added another on the par five at 18. Smith had multiple streaks of three or more consecutive pars during her round. 

Gabi Courtney also improved on her first round scoring, shooting an 83, which was seven strokes lower than the opening day. She also birdied the second hole and added another one on the par five at hole 12. Courtney also tallied five pars during her round. Meghan Mullen also notched two birdies during her round on holes 9 and 12 and finished with an 84. Her two birdies came in a four hole stretch where she also picked up a par.

Lauren Wright had a five stroke improvement on her second day and wrapped up with a 93. She had the final birdie of the day for Catholic as she did so on the 348-yard par four on hole 16. Wright also collected five pars during her round.

Mary McGuire was the final player for the Cardinals, and she shot a 91 on Wednesday with three pars in total.
