SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -The top-seeded Moravian University men's tennis squad rallied from a 3-1 deficit for a 4-3 victory over third-seeded Goucher College in the 2026 Landmark Conference Championship match at the Central Pennsylvania Tennis Center Sunday afternoon to clinch a berth in the 2026 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.
How It Happened
- The Gophers jumped out to a 1-0 lead by posting wins at first and second doubles to secure the doubles point
- Goucher extended its advantage to 2-0 with a straight-sets win at third singles while sophomore Joey Kelly recorded a 6-3, 6-2 victory at sixth singles to cut the deficit to 2-1 for the Greyhounds. The Gophers went back up by two at 3-1 after winning in straight sets at first singles. Sophomore Roman Farhad posted a 6-2, 6-2 at fifth singles as Moravian got back within one at 3-2. Freshman Enzo Guarda evened the match at 3-3 after winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 at second singles. Just minutes later, junior Gavin Labbadia registered a 6-2, 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) triumph at fourth singles to clinch the Hounds' first-ever Landmark Conference title
- Labbadia was selected as the Most Outstanding Player of the 2026 Landmark Conference Tournament after winning his singles match in the third-set tiebreaker
Landmark Conference Championship History
- The Greyhounds earned their first Landmark Conference Championship
- Moravian was playing in the Landmark Conference title match for the first time in 2009 and just the second time in program history
- The Hounds advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in school history
