Greyhounds Fall to Baruch (N.Y.) in First-Ever NCAA DIII Tournament Match

MEDFORD, Mass. -The Moravian University men's tennis team fell to Baruch (N.Y.) College, 4-0, in the opening round of the 2026 NCAA Division III Tournament at the Medford, Massachusetts Regional hosted by Tufts University on Saturday.

How It Happened
  • The Bearcats opened the contest with wins at first and second doubles to clinch the doubles point and a 1-0 edge. The Hounds' tandem of senior Shayaan Farhad and sophomore Joey Kelly was tied at 4-4 at third doubles when Baruch clinched the doubles point, leaving the match unfinished.
  • Baruch also won the first three singles contests to finish, earning the four points to win. The Bearcats won at first, third, and fifth singles.
  • The Greyhounds have won first sets in the three matches, to not finish with freshman Enzo Guarda leading his match 6-3, 1-2 at second singles, junior Gavin Labbadia up 6-3, 1-1 at his fourth singles contest, and Kelly nearly finished with a 6-2, 4-1 edge at sixth singles 

NCAA Division III History
  • The Greyhounds were competing in the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in program history after capturing their first-ever Landmark Conference title last Sunday. The conference championship was the first for Moravian since 1939
