MADISON, N.J. - The Landmark Conference has
announced that 32 student-athletes have been honored with selection
to the 2007 Fall Landmark All-Academic Team. Two male and two
female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were
selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled
athletically and academically. Nominees could compete in any of the
Landmark fall sports and must be a sophomore or older with a
cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
The fall All-Academic Team features 13 seniors, 12 juniors and
six sophomores. In addition all eight fall sports sponsored by the
Landmark Conference is represented with at least one
student-athlete. The Landmark Conference will select an
All-Academic Team for each of the three athletics seasons during
the year.

Alys Cheatle from Hickory, N.C. was a
second-team All-Landmark performer in cross country and earned a
spot at the NCAA Division III Championships. She placed ninth at
the Landmark Championships and helped Catholic to a third-place
team finish. She was a Landmark Academic Honor Roll selection
academically this fall.
Emily McGlynn of Tallahassee, Fla. was a key
contributor for the Catholic volleyball team. She picked up
second-team All-Conference honors as a setter, while leading the
team and ranking second in the conference in assists. She helped
Catholic place second in the conference regular-season standings,
and also was a Landmark Academic Honor Roll selection.
Andrew Smith, a native of Arlington, Tenn.,
enjoyed a strong season for the Catholic cross country team. He
claimed first-team All-Conference honors with a team-best
seventh-place finish at the Landmark Championships, and he was one
of Catholic's top two runners throughout the fall season.
Alex Walendziak from Bowling Green, Ky. was an
anchor of the Catholic men's soccer defense. He played in 12
matches on the season, helping Catholic hold opposing offenses to
slightly less than two goals per match and recording four shutouts.
A civil engineering major, he captured Landmark Academic Honor Roll
honors in his senior year.
Dan Bonder, a native of Whippany Park, N.J.,
was a defensive anchor for the Drew defense that claimed the
Landmark Men's Soccer Championship. He was a first-team
All-Conference selection on the field, and in the classroom he has
earned Dean's List distinction.
Chelsea Boska of Niskayuna, N.Y. ranks as one
of the most successful runners in Drew history. She was the team's
top finisher in every race she ran this fall, including a top-20
finish at the conference championships. A member of the Dean's List
as a double major in psychology and French, she is also a member of
Drew's orchestra
Ann Mularz from Linden, N.J. ranked as one of
the top goalkeepers in the Landmark Conference this fall as she led
the conference in save percentage and was second in total saves.
She was an ESPN The Magazine Women's Soccer Academic All-District
selection and has earned Dean's List honors every semester.
Jim Rossi of Mendham, N.J. appeared in 21
matches for the Drew soccer team which claimed the Landmark title.
He scored a pair of goals and added four assists for the Rangers
this fall. Academically he is majoring in economics and boasts one
of the top GPAs in the department.
J. Fraley Coles from The Plains, Va. was one of
the top female runners in the Landmark Conference throughout the
season. She earned All-Region honors for the second time in her
career this season, and qualified for the NCAA Division III
Championships. She is pursuing a degree in psychology.
Julien Greco, a native of Shutesbury, Mass.,
was a standout on the soccer pitch for Goucher. He led the team in
goals (8) and assists (4) and he was tied for the Landmark
Conference lead in points with 20. An international relations
major, he was named to the ESPN The Magazine Men's Soccer Academic
All-District Team.
Zach Martin of Victor, N.Y., excelled for the
Goucher cross country team. He led the team with an
18th-place finish at the Landmark Championships, and he
recorded the fastest time for a Goucher runner in an 8K race with
his effort at the Paul Short Invitational. In the classroom he is
studying English with a minor in environmental studies.
Megan Smith of Honolulu, Hawaii was a top
performer for the Goucher volleyball team this season. She was an
All-Conference selection, Goucher's first volleyball player to earn
that honor since 1999. She established new school records for kills
in a match and a season. She has a major in history and a minor in
biology.
Matt Bailey, a native of East Petersburg, Pa.,
enjoyed a stellar sophomore season for Juniata's cross country
team. He was a first-team All-Conference performer with a
third-place finish at the Landmark Championships, and he was
Juniata's top finisher in all but two meets. He has the highest GPA
of any Juniata fall athlete.
Bryan Hess of Hanover, Pa. earned first-team
All-Landmark honors for his work on the soccer field. He led
Juniata in goals and points, and he ranked seventh and ninth in the
conference in goals per game and points per game respectively. In
the classroom he is pursuing a degree in biology.
Beth Kozak of Huntingdon, Pa. was a first-team
All-Conference choice as a setter for the Juniata volleyball team
which won the conference title and advanced to the NCAA Semifinals.
Kozak led the team in assists and earned All-America honors for the
first time. She was also an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District
selection.
Amanda Wimer, from Quarryville, Pa., anchored a
defense that helped the Juniata field hockey team claim the
Landmark Championship. Wimer was a second-team All-Conference pick
and helped Juniata earn the first two NCAA Tournament victories in
program history. In the classroom she is working towards a degree
in business and art.
Tracy Fitzpatrick, a native of Wantage, N.J.,
was the Landmark Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the
Year, and she helped Moravian earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
After missing last season with injury she scored 14 goals and added
five assists for the Greyhounds. She was also a member of the
Landmark Academic Honor Roll this fall, and plans to be a teacher
after graduation.
Ryan Hess of Harleysville, Pa. earned
All-Conference honors in men's soccer in his senior season. A
four-year starter for Moravian he scored three goals and added
three assists in his final campaign to capture second-team
All-Conference. A biology major, he was an Academic Honor Roll
selection this season.
Daniel Scavone from East Stroudsburg, Pa. was a
three-year starting defender for the Moravian men's soccer team. He
scored his first goal, a game-winner against Landmark foe Catholic,
in his senior season, and helped Moravian earn five shutouts. A
Landmark Academic Honor Roll selection he plans to pursue a career
in marine biology.
Kayla Teeling of Millford, N.J. was the
runner-up at the 2007 Landmark Cross Country Championships, which
earned her first-team All-Conference honors. He top-2 finish also
helped Moravian finish second as a team at the conference
championships. She also narrowly missed earning All-Region honors
this season. She is working towards a degree in English and
secondary education.
Brooke Hinkley of Hallstead, Pa., was a
first-team All-Landmark selection in volleyball. She closed her
career as a three-time All-Conference choice, and is Scranton's
all-time leader in career blocks. She recovered from a serious
injury suffered in a car crash as a junior to help Scranton advance
to the Landmark championship match.
Rob Olechna, a native of Scranton, Pa., enjoyed
a stellar career as a cross country performer. He was a second-team
All-Landmark honoree this season, and has five career top-10
finishes to his credit. In the classroom he has earned Academic
Honor Roll distinction three times while pursuing a degree in
history.
Becky Prial of Warwick, N.Y. was an
All-Conference performer for the Scranton women's cross country
team. She placed sixth at the Landmark Championships and was also a
two-time All-Region performer during her career. She is majoring in
biology and philosophy and three times earn conference Academic
Honor Roll recognition. Gary Racich
from Jackson, N.J. was a first-team All-Landmark selection and
helped Scranton reach the conference championship match. He scored
five goals and added three assists this season as a defender and
has also earned All-Region distinction during his career. He is an
exercise science major and was a Landmark Academic Honor Roll
recipient.
Jeffrey Brook of Cogan Station, Pa., helped Susquehanna
earn the Landmark Men's Cross Country Championship as he placed
13th to earn second-team All-Conference laurels. He was
consistently a top-five runner during the year. Academically he's
working towards a degree in accounting.
Laura Gausmann from York, Pa. was a co-captain for the
Susquehanna women's cross country team. She earned second-team
All-Conference honors by placing eighth at the Landmark
Championships and was the team's number-two runner throughout the
season. She boasts the highest cumulative GPA of any Susquehanna
athlete.
Matthew Gawlas of Mechanicsburg, Pa. was a key
contributor for the Susquehanna men's soccer team that earned a
berth in the Landmark postseason. He scored three goals as a
defender on the year and captured second-team All-Conference
honors. He was also a member of the Landmark Fall Academic Honor
Roll.
Laura Haldeman, a native of Wallkill, N.Y., was a
co-captain and defensive anchor for the women's soccer team. She
played and started all 17 matches on the year helping Susquehanna
post a team goals against average of 1.27 and six shutouts. She
will graduate with a degree in elementary education and Spanish.
Callie Beeler from Brighton, Colo. was the top
finisher for the USMMA cross country team throughout the season.
She earned second-team All-Conference honors at the Landmark
Championships and was named the Landmark Women's Cross Country
Runner of the Week three times. She serves as the USMMA Regimental
Athletics Director.
Benjamin Inoye of Papaikou Hawaii was an
All-Conference selection in men's soccer after starting 14 matches
for USMMA. He helped the Mariners record seven shutouts while also
leading the team with five assists. His cumulative GPA ranks second
in his class and he earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District
Honors.
Chris Nitta of Scottsdale, Ariz. anchored the
defense for USMMA. He was named the Landmark Defensive Player of
the Year after helping the team record seven shutouts. He was also
a first-team All-Conference pick and a co-captain. Nitta also was
selected as an ESPN The Magazine Men's Soccer College Division
Academic All-American Brittany Rossi
Brittany Rossi, a native of Grand Junction,
Colo., was a top performer for the women's cross country
team. She ran her personal best time at the NCAA Regional
Championships, and was third for USMMA at the Landmark
Championships where she claimed a top-30 finish. Was a member of
the Landmark Academic Honor Roll.
