MADISON, N.J. – The Landmark Conference has announced the selection of 31 student-athletes to the 2012 Spring Landmark All-Academic Team. Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically. Nominees could compete in any of the Landmark spring sports and must be a sophomore or older with a strong cumulative GPA.

Nineteen of the 31 spots on the All-Academic Team go to seniors who closed out their college careers in strong fashion. Nine juniors and three sophomores make up the remainder of the team. All eight Landmark spring sports were represented with at least one honoree on the team.

Nina Curto, from Pelham Manor, N.Y. was a key piece for a highly-successful Catholic softball team. She hit an even .300 with 22 runs, 14 doubles and 21 RBI and earned Tournament MVP honors as Catholic won the ECAC Tournament and reached the Landmark postseason for the fourth time. Off the field she has a strong cumulative GPA while majoring in media studies and is a two-time Academic Honor Roll pick.

Joe Quigley of East Hampton, N.Y. produced several strong efforts for Catholic's track & field team. The junior captured second-team All-Conference honors by placing second in the 800 at the Landmark Championship and boasted some of the top times in the conference in the 400 and 800. He's been a multi-time Academic Honor Roll qualifier in the winter and spring, and is majoring in mechanical engineering.

Mary Robinson, a native of Emmitsburg, Md., was a top offensive performer for the Catholic women's lacrosse program that won a fifth-straight Landmark title. She scored 20 goals and added 12 assists in 22 games while adding 37 draw controls and 19 ground balls. She had six multi-goal games as Catholic reached the NCAA quarterfinals. A psychology major, she claimed three Academic Honor Roll nods.

Cassian Utrie, from Appleton, Wisc., is off to a strong start to his tennis career for the Cardinals. He earned first-team All-Conference honors as a doubles performer where he went 13-4 in his sophomore year. He was 5-2 in Landmark doubles, and added nine wins in singles including three in conference play. He is a member of the Landmark Academic Honor Roll and is working towards a degree in philosophy.

Jeramie Barletta of Madison, N.J. played three sports for Drew during her junior year, culminating with her hitting .286 for the softball team. She has started 108-straight games at shortstop and added 20 RBIs after playing soccer and basketball the preceding seasons. She's earned a Dean's List spot every semester, is a Baldwin honors Scholar while producing a stellar cumulative GPA as a sociology major.

Erica Frederickson of Brooklyn, N.Y. helped Drew women's tennis reach the postseason for the second-time in five Landmark seasons. She was a staple on the doubles court for the Rangers finishing the season with a 5-2 mark and helping the team to a second-seed for the conference postseason. She earned her degree in math with minors in Spanish and theater and was a Drew Presidential Award winner.

Scott Humpreys of Newark, Del. was an offensive force for the Drew men's lacrosse team that enjoyed a record-breaking season. He led the team with 36 goals and 45 points, earning first-team All-Conference accolades as Drew set a program-record for wins. He was also third in the conference in man-up goals. He has been a Dean's List selection and has two Academic Honor Roll selections as a history major.

Drew Obergfell from Cranford, N.J. closed his career by helping Drew capture its first Landmark Baseball Championship. He appeared in 35 games for the Rangers as a senior, hitting .264 with seven doubles and 16 RBI. Off the field he earned a degree in political science with a minor in history. He is the President of the Political Science National Honors Society and recipient of a Drew Political Science Scholarship.

Mara Bergman from Summit, N.J. closed her standout career for the Goucher women's tennis team with an excellent senior season. She claimed her second All-Conference honor as a doubles player as a senior, going 16-7 over her last two seasons in doubles and added six singles victories this year. She earned a degree in education with a minor in psychology and has been a consistent Academic Honor Roll choice.

Caitlin Biggers, a native of Cortlandt Manor, N.Y., produced a strong career for the Goucher track & field teams. One of her top performances came with a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter dash at the Landmark Championship, and ran on the third-place 4x400 relay. Off the track she was inducted in the Beta of Maryland chapter of Phi Beta Kappa and majored in history with a minor in art over four years.

Matt Lynch of Ivyland, Pa., ranks as one of the top men's lacrosse players in Goucher history. He was voted a third-team USILA All-American and was also selected as an Academic All-American and a USILA Scholar All-American as he piled up more than 200 points for his career. He was a co-recipient of the Max Hochschild Prize for Excellence in Economics as an economics and business management major

David Spivey of Cockeysville, Md. starred for the Goucher men's tennis program for two years and also played soccer. He closed his career with five victories at first singles in his senior year after capturing three singles wins as a junior. He also had eight doubles wins over the two seasons. A biology and biochemistry major, this is his second All-Academic pick and he received Goucher's Freshman Chemistry Award.

Jennifer Ashcraft from Bellefonte, Pa., was a top performer for Juniata's softball program. She hit .238 in her junior year and belted her first career home run and delivered the game-winning hit in Juniata's Landmark win over Drew. She earned a degree in education with a minor in fine arts, built houses in Mississippi for Hurricane Katrina relief, and works in Juniata's Early Childhood Education Center.

Alyssa Grube of Lititz, Pa. currently holds two top-five all-time Juniata outdoor track & field performances. The sophomore had a pair of top-5 finishes at the Landmark Outdoor Championships in the 800 and 1,500. She spent six weeks at a public health clinic in Orizaba, Mexico and will be conducting research at University of North Carolina this summer. She is majoring in biology with a minor in Spanish.

Brice Morey of Enola, Pa. was the top performer for the Juniata men's tennis team in his junior campaign. He was voted the team MVP with a mark of 8-7 in singles play including three singles triumphs in Landmark matches. He is a biology major with a strong GPA and is a member of Mission Chair of Colleges Against Cancer, Habitat for Humanity, Biology Honors Society and Student Alumni Association.

Vincent Smith, from Butler, Pa., enjoyed a stellar outdoor track & field season for Juniata. He posted two personal bests, in the 200-meter dash and 110-meter hurdles, and earned second-team All-Conference honors by placing second in the 110 hurdles. He is studying marketing and entrepreneurship is the founder of a student business, and earned the President selected Endowed Merit Award in Business Administration.

Timothy Layng, a native of Canton, Pa., closed his career by earning All-America honors twice. He placed fourth in NCAA Division III in the pole vault at the Outdoor Championship, clearing 5.00 meters, after winning the Landmark Championship in that event. He was also an All-American in indoor track & field. He graduated with a degree in biology and was a multi-time Academic Honor Roll recipient.

Eavan Matz of Port Jervis, N.Y. is off to a strong start athletically and academically for the Moravian softball team. She knocked out 15 hits with a .975 fielding percentage as the starter at second base for the Greyhounds, helping the team to a fifth-straight Landmark Conference title. She has a strong GPA through her first two years as a business management major and earned Academic Honor Roll status this spring.

Austin Rock from Arlingon, Va. was a two-time first-team All-Conference performer for the Moravian baseball team. He hit .364 with four home runs, 38 RBI and 19 extra base hits in his senior year. He earned Capital One Academic All-America honors as a senior and was a two-time Academic All-District choice as a double major in financial economics and philosophy. He also was a three-time Academic Honor Roll pick.

Abigail Schaffer of Easton, Pa. was a multi-time NCAA National Champion and All-American in track & field. She earned All-America honors as a senior at the NCAA Championships in the pole vault, and she won multiple Landmark titles in the pole vault at the indoor and outdoor Championships. She earned a degree in marketing from Moravian and she earned All-Academic status multiple times during her career.

Robert Della Polla, a native of Havertown, Pa., was a three-year starter on the Scranton pitching staff. He has posted a career record of 9-8 over three years, with a 5.30 ERA and 122 strikeouts in 124 innings. The junior has also notched seven complete games and helped Scranton the Landmark final as a sophomore. He is a two-time Academic Honor Roll recipient and holds a 3.81 grade point average as an accounting major.

Kaela Mahon of Avon-by-the-Sea, N.J. was a four-year performer in women's lacrosse and field hockey. She ranks in the top-15 in Scranton career history in goals, points, and assists and was a part of five Landmark postseason teams in women's lacrosse and field hockey. She has been named to the Dean's List four times and the Landmark Academic Honor Roll six times and earned a degree in health sciences.

Tim McGurrin from Clarks Summit, Pa. has been a top men's tennis performer for Scranton. He was a first-team All-Conference performer in singles and doubles each of the past two years and holds a career singles record of 30-15 and a doubles mark of 34-13. An accounting major, he was selected a Capital One Academic All-American and has a 4.0 GPA and will enroll in graduate school at Scranton in 2012-13.

Kelly Zaccheo of Scranton, Pa. batted a career-high .395 in her senior season and earned second-team All-Conference honors. She helped the team win 26 games as a senior captain, one shy of the program record. She was voted a Capital One Academic All-American as a biomathematics and philosophy and had the highest GPA among all female senior student-athletes which earned her the Scranton Carlesimo Award.

Lisa Finizio from West Chester, Pa. was a four-year starter and team captain for the Susquehanna softball team and was named the Landmark Player of the Year as a senior. She led the team in hits, runs and stolen bases and holds the Susquehanna career record for hits, and earned NFCA All-Region honors. She graduated with an economics degree and was selected as a Capital One Academic All-District honoree.

Trae Humphreys, of Wilmington, Del., was a team captain for the Crusaders men's lacrosse team as a senior. He capped his four-year career with an All-Conference selection this season as he appeared in 16 games and won 138 of 243 face-offs. He also had a team-high 81 ground balls on the year. He earned a degree in economics and was a three-time Landmark Academic Honor Roll selection.

Kristin Stam a native of Wellsboro, Pa. is excelled for the Susquehanna indoor & outdoor track & field teams. She set a new school record in the long jump and was a second-team All-Conference honoree by placing second in the triple jump at the Landmark Championships and had three other top-six finishes. She was a Dean's List honoree every semester as a liberal studies elementary education major.

Joe Zamadics of West Chester, Pa. has been a top track and cross country performer throughout his career. He was a second-team All-Conference performer as a senior when he placed second in the 1,500 and added a third-place finish in the 800 at the Landmark meet. He has won previous Landmark titles, and this marks his seventh All-Academic honor as he graduated with a stellar GPA with a degree in economics.

Kevin Dwyer from Smithtown, N.Y. was a strong four-year competitor for the USMMA men's lacrosse team. He has been a consistent performer for the Mariners over his career, producing 137 ground balls and 45 caused turnovers over that time. A team captain, he earned a degree in logistics and intermodal transportation, will be entering active duty with the Coast Guard upon graduation.

Hunter Karass, of Marlboro, N.J., was a standout for USMMA track and field teams. The senior was a team captain and earned All-Conference accolades as part of the 4x400 relay team that won the event and set a new Landmark record at the Conference Championships. He studied marine transportation at Kings Point and claimed an Academic Gold Star for each trimester he was in-residence.

Laurellee Koppras of Bruce, Wisc. was a key figure for USMMA's softball program. A four-year competitor for the Mariners she totaled 26 hits, 13 RBI, 10 runs and two doubles over four seasons, two of which were shortened due to team injuries. She started 46 of the 48 games she played for her career. She earned a degree in marine engineering systems and was a multi-time Academic Honor Roll selection.
