MADISON, N.J. – The Landmark Conference has announced the selection of 32 student-athletes to the 2012 Winter Landmark All-Academic Team. Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically. Nominees could compete in any of the Landmark winter sports and must be a sophomore or older with a strong cumulative GPA.

The senior class was the most represented on the All-Academic Team with 19 selections. The remaining positions were taken by 10 sophomores and three juniors. In addition all six winter sports sponsored by the Landmark Conference are represented with at least one selection. The Landmark Conference will select an All-Academic Team for each of the three athletics seasons during the year.

Caleb Capozella from Green Bay, Wisc., enjoyed a second stellar season for the Catholic swimming & diving team. He was a three-time Landmark Swimmer of the Year and earned second-team All-Conference honors with two second-place finishes and a third-place finishes. He is working towards a degree in biomedical engineering, and has several Dean's List and Academic Honor Roll selections.

Darrell Carroll of Bel Air, Md., was a solid contributor throughout his career for the men's basketball program. He set career highs in points, rebounds and assists in his senior season. He helped the Cardinals reach the finals of the ECAC South Championships. He is a financial management TA, is a member of multiple honor societies, and is majoring in international economics and finance.

Laura Kinley, a native of Jefferson, Md., is an All-Conference performer for Catholic's indoor track & field team. She won the mile at the Landmark Indoor Championships in a time of 5:20.14 and also added a third-place finish in the 800. She is a media studies major and was a recipient of the CUA media studies Ed McMahon scholarship. She also served as the co-leader for a 2012 mission trip to Jamaica.

Joanna Ladas, of Silver Spring Md., maintained her reputation as one of the top swimmers in the Landmark. She won both the 200 and 500 freestyle events, setting a new school record in the 200, and added a second-place finish in the 1,650 at the Landmark Championships. She has won five events in two years at the Landmark meet. She has a GPA over 3.0 while working towards an architecture degree.

Thomas DiGuglielmo of Norwalk, Conn. has been a top performer for the Drew swim program. He holds three times ranking in the top-15 in school history, including the third-fastest time in the 400 IM. He also had three top-10 finishes at the Landmark Championships, highlighted by a sixth-place finish in the 400 IM. He's a two-time Academic Honor Roll choice, and has earned Dean's List selection all three semesters.

Austin Goetjen of Simsbury, Conn. was the type freestyle swimmer for the Drew men's swimming team. He holds the fifth-fastest 50-freestyle time in Drew history, along with the sixth-fastest time in the 200 freestyle. He reached the finals in the 200 freestyle at the Landmark Championships. He has been a three-time Dean's List honoree and is majoring in economics with a minor in Spanish and music.

Marissa Kraynak of Plymouth, Pa. closed an outstanding career in the pool and on campus for Drew. She helped the team to a top-7 team finish at the Landmark Championships, and a sixth-place finish last year. She had a top-20 performance in the 200 backstroke at the meet this year. She is majoring in neuroscience is an ambassador coordinator, interned at the Morristown Hospital, and a frequent Dean's List member.

Jasmine Prokscha from Washington, Conn. also capped a strong career for Drew's swimming team. She holds the fifth-fastest time in Drew history in the 100 and 200 breastroke, and was a member of the school record 200 medley relay team. She is a member of the Political Science Honors Society, participated in Drew's United Nation's semester, and is majoring in political science and German.

Hugh Gellar from Devens, Mass. had a strong season with the Goucher indoor track & field team. Among his top performances was a fifth-place finish in the 3,000 at the Hagerstown Invitational and an eighth-place run in the 5,000 at the DuCharme Invitational and the mile at Hagerstown. This marks his second All-Academic selection as he was also honored in the fall and he is studying mathematics at Goucher.

Sarah Pardus, a native of Stratham, N.H., excelled for the Goucher swim team during the winter. She had three top-16 finishes at the Landmark Championship, highlighted by an 11th-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle. She added 13th and 16th-place efforts in the 200 and 100 free races respectively. She earned Academic Honor Roll honors and has a strong GPA as a chemistry major with a communications minor.

Kathryn Walker of Plymouth Meeting, Pa., enjoyed a strong sophomore season with Goucher's indoor track & field team. She earned second-team All-Conference laurels as a member of Goucher's distance medley relay that placed second and set a new school record in a time of 13:21.08. She is studying French with a minor in art history, and claimed Landmark Academic Honor Roll status this season.

Kyle Williams of Andover, N.J. closed a memorable career for Goucher's swimming & diving program this year. He notched a fifth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle at the Landmark meet, and added sixth-place efforts in the 100 and 200 backstroke. He also has All-Conference honors on his resume. This marks his third All-Academic selection, and is a three-time Academic Honor Roll choice as a chemistry major.

Aaron McCoy, a native of Muncy, Pa., has been a consistent performer in the sprints for the Juniata track team. He earned All-Conference honors by placing second in the 55-meter dash at the Landmark Indoor Championships, and third in the 200. Had three paintings selected for the Juniata's 2012 Student Art Exhibit, is the layout editor for school newspaper, and is majoring in marketing and graphic arts.

Kelsey Miles of Huntingdon, Pa. set four personal bests for the Juniata swim team in her sophomore year. She swam the third fastest time in Juniata history and placed seventh at the Landmark meet in the 500-yard freestyle, helping the team to a best-ever sixth-place finish. She is member of the Special Olympics Committee, participates in Habitat for Humanity, and is an elementary and special education major.

Caroline Morgan of Havertown, Pa. ran some of the fastest times in Juniata history in the indoor track season. She set a new PR in the mile, the 4th-fastest time in school history, and then was again the 4th-fastest in the indoor 5,000 with a time of 18:48.13. She assisted at a homeless shelter, a women's rights campaign, and hunger relief organization as part of a program in Philadelphia, and is studying social work.

Brian Scholly, from State College, Pa., ranked fourth for Juniata in scoring and led the team with 55 three pointers in his sophomore campaign. He averaged 9.9 points and 4.8 rebounds as Juniata reached the Landmark Championship game and the ECAC Postseason. Off the court he's studying history, is a member of the National Spanish Honor Society, and is part of a Best Buddies program at his high school alma mater.

Nicco Dalpiaz, a native of Sunbury, Pa., was a stellar part of Moravian's third Landmark Indoor Track & Field Championship. He won the 60-meter hurdles to earn All-Conference honors and then added a runner-up finish in the pole vault event at the meet. He also had two fourth-place finishes. He is a management major, is the president of Moravian business and economics club, and is a three-time Dean's List choice.

Timothy Layng of Canton, Pa. earned All-America honors for the Moravian indoor track & field team. He placed seventh in the pole vault at the NCAA Division III Championships, shortly after he won the event with a school and meet record height of 4.96-meters at the Landmark Championships. He boasts a stellar GPA as a biology major, has been on the Dean's List every semester, and is involved in several clubs.

Abigail Schaffer from Easton, Pa. continued to produce stellar results for the Moravian track & field team. She earned All-America honors for the fifth time her career by placing second in the pole vault at the NCAA Division III Champions, and won the event at the Landmark meet. She was named the 2012 USTFCCCA Mideast Region Female Field Athlete of the Year. She is studying marketing at Moravian.

Lisa Williamson of Sinking Spring, Pa. earns All-Academic honors for the second time in her career after a strong indoor track season. She was voted Indoor Female Track Athlete of the Year after winning the 60-meter dash and placing second in the 200 and 400 and running a winning relay team. She is a double major in psychology and elementary education, and has multiple Academic Honor Roll and Dean's List selections.

Carolyn Gillespie, a native of New Market, Md., earns a second All-Academic selection after a stellar career in the pool for the Royals. She's a four-time first-team All-Conference swimmer, and a seven-time relay champion. She had 60 first-place dual-meet finishes and helped Scranton to two Landmark titles. An exercise science major, she is a three-time selection to the Landmark Academic Honor Roll.

David Hovey of Forty Fort, Pa., capped a strong career for the Scranton swimming & diving team. He is a four-team All-Conference swimmer, including first team in 2009 and 2012 as he won the 200-breaststroke events those seasons and was also the 2009 Landmark Rookie of the Year. He is majoring in counseling and human services and is a two-time selection to the Landmark All-Academic Team.

Sidney Jacques of Rosemont, N.J. played 102 games over four seasons for Scranton's women's basketball team. She was a member of the 2009 Landmark Championship team, and the Royals appeared in the Landmark postseason all four years as she scored 422 points with 132 rebounds. She is a member of Scranton's ROTC program and is majoring in communications with a track in public relations.

Andrew Kelly from Maple Glen, Pa. was strong contributor to Scranton's swimming program. He produced six top-5 individual finishes at the Landmark Championships, including a win in the 200-yard butterfly at the 2010 Championship. He earned four letters and helped Scranton to two team runner-up finishes. He is a three-time Academic Honor Roll pick and will graduate with an exercise science degree.

Chadd Lee of Bloomsburg, Pa., continued to build on a strong career for the Susquehanna swimming & diving team. He won two events at the Landmark Championships, earning first-team All-Conference honors for the third time, and giving him four event wins in three years. He's a two-year captain, and has earned Dean's List honors every semester. A biology major, this is his second All-Academic team honor.

Kate Mays from Holland, Pa. earned first-team All-Conference honors for the Susquehanna swim team that claimed a second-straight Landmark Championship. She set personal bests in six different events this season and swam for the school record-holding 800 free relay team. She is studying business administration and has been on the Dean's List each semester, while also earning Academic Honor Roll status.

Kristin Stam, of Wellsboro, Pa., has been a consistent performer for Susquehanna's track & field program. She placed second in the long and triple jumps at the Landmark Indoor Championships, earning second-team All-Conference honors, and setting a career personal best in the long jump. She boasts a strong GPA in liberal studies-elementary education, and has five Landmark Academic Honor Roll selections.

Joe Zamadics, of West Chester, Pa., has been a staple of the All-Academic Teams as a standout runner for the Crusader track and cross country teams. He set a new personal best in the mile at the Landmark Indoor Championships, placing second, and was a first-team All-Conference performer. He maintains a pristine cumulative GPA and this marks his sixth All-Academic selection and serves as a campus radio DJ.

Kimberly Glore from Highland, Colo. helped the USMMA indoor track & field team to a high point total at the Landmark Championship. She was a part of two school record-breaking relays in the 4x200 and 4x400-meter relays which were both established at the Landmark Championships. Off the track is majoring in transportation logistics, was a 1st rotation platoon commander and was a silver/gold star achiever.

Alicen Heinrich of South Riding, Va. was a big part of a USMMA women's basketball team that went 10-15 and 4-10 in Landmark play. She scored 120 points and grabbed 125 rebounds in her senior season, with a season-best 14 points in a win over New Rochelle. She is a sea year ribbon award winner, the student council secretary, and SAAC president and is a logistics and intermodal transportation major.

Hunter Karass of Marlboro, N.J. helped the USMMA men's track team to a best-ever showing at the Indoor Track & Field Championships. He earned first-team All-Conference honors as a member of the school-record breaking 4x400 relay team, and added a top-10 finish in the 400. A marine transportation major, he has earned multiple Landmark Academic Honor Roll selections for the Mariners.

Frank Vita, a native of Davidsonville Md., capped a stellar career for USMMA by earning All-America honors at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships. He placed fourth in the 200 butterfly at the NCAA meet, and was a multiple-time first-team All-Conference performer as USMMA won four Landmark titles. He will earn a degree in marine engineering with a strong cumulative GPA.
