2019 Field Hockey Athletes of the Week Offensive Athlete of the Week - Maddie Call, Moravian November 04, 2019 (Freshman, F - Phillipsburg, N.J.) Moravian freshman Maddie Call scored the tying goal and then the double-overtime winning goal in the Greyhounds' 3-2, double-overtime come-from-behind win at Goucher College to close out the 2019 season. She netted the game-tying goal with 1:13 left in the fourth quarter and then scored the game-winner 4:38 into the second overtime. Defensive Athlete of the Week - Joie Slossar, Drew November 04, 2019 (Junior, GK - Woodbury, Conn.) Junior Joie Slossar made 12 saves and carried a shutout into the fourth quarter in Drew's 1-0 loss to Susquehanna. Facing a 33-shot attack, she kept the visitors off the scoreboard before the River Hawks struck 24 seconds into the final period. Slossar was also credited with her first career shutout in a 6-0 victory over Bryn Athyn, although she did not face a shot. Offensive Athlete of the Week - Hunter Pitman, Susquehanna October 28, 2019 (Senior, F - White Haven, Pa.) Susquehanna senior Hunter Pitman had four goals across the two games this week. Against Cabrini, Pitman recorded a hat trick, scoring three goals in the 6-1 win. In a tight matchup against conference foe Scranton, the senior scored one goal to help the River Hawks to a 3-0 victory. Defensive Athlete of the Week - Veronica Green, Susquehanna October 28, 2019 (Senior, GK - Slatington, Pa.) Susquehanna senior Veronica Green allowed one goal on the week to help the River Hawks to a 2-0 weekend. In the 6-1 against Cabrini, she made three saves before making seven stops in the 3-0 win against conference foe Scranton on Saturday. Offensive Athlete of the Week - Gracie McClatchy, Scranton October 21, 2019 (Senior, F - Havertown, Pa.) Scranton senior Gracie McClatchy tallied three goals and one assist on the week as the Royals picked up a pair of Landmark Conference victories to improve to 5-0 in the conference. The senior forward started the week with two goals and an assist in a 4-1 win over Drew on Thursday and added a goal in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Elizabethtown. Defensive Athlete of the Week - Amelia Sharp, Scranton October 21, 2019 (Sophomore., M - Yardley, Pa.) Scranton sophomore Amelia Sharp registered a key defensive save in the third quarter of Saturday's 2-1 win over Elizabethtown. Sharp's defensive save kept it a 1-0 game at the time and the Yardley, Pa., native eventually scored the game-winner on a penalty stroke with 2:41 left in regulation to help the Royals improve to 5-0 in the Landmark Conference. Offensive Athlete of the Week - Catherine Lanigan, Juniata October 14, 2019 (Senior, F - Parisippany, N.J.) Juniata senior Catherine Lanigan scored two goals and added an assist to help the Eagles to a 2-0 week. Lanigan scored the eventual game-winning goal at the 16:31 mark to lift JC to a 1-0 victory. She followed that performance on Saturday, adding a goal and an assist in the 6-0 shutout against Goucher. Defensive Athlete of the Week - Nicole Piccioni, Juniata October 14, 2019 (Sophomore, GK - Richfield, Pa.) Juniata sophomore Nicole Piccioni earned her third Athlete of the Week honors thanks to a pair of shutout wins last week. The goalkeeper made one stop in the 1-0 win against Misericordia and had one save in the 6-0 victory against Goucher. Offensive Athlete of the Week - Sam Banks, Susquehanna October 07, 2019 (Sophomore, Midfielder - Dallas, Pa.) Susquehanna sophomore Sam Banks scored three goals last week to help the River Hawks to a 1-1 record. In the 2-1 loss against Misericordia, Banks tallied a goal before notching two goals in the 4-0 win over Moravian on Saturday. Defensive Athlete of the Week - Lauren Earnshaw, Scranton October 07, 2019 (Senior, D - Audubon, Pa.) Scranton senior Lauren Earnshaw registered a key defensive save late in the third quarter of Saturday's 2-1 win vs. Goucher. The senior defender leads the Landmark Conference with six defensive saves this season. Offensive Athlete of the Week - Allie Benadon, Scranton September 30, 2019 (Sophomore, M/F - Hillsborough, N.J.) Scranton sophomore Allie Benadon registered the first multi-goal game of her career including the overtime game-winner in Saturday's 2-1 win at Catholic. The sophomore forward also added an assist in Wednesday's 3-0 win over Wilkes. Defensive Athlete of the Week - Nicole Piccioni, Juniata September 30, 2019 (Sophomore, GK - Richfield, Pa.) Juniata sophomore Nicole Piccioni helped the Eagles to a 1-0 shutout against Moravian College in the opening weekend of conference play. Piccioni made eight saves in 60 minutes of action. Offensive Athlete of the Week - Jess Waite, Catholic September 23, 2019 (Junior, F - Ambler, Pa.) Catholic junior Jess Waite led the team in goals and points last week. She also leads the team with five goals and 11 points in seven games this season. She scored a career-high five points in the win at Randolph-Macon while tying her career high in goals with two. Defensive Athlete of the Week - Ashley Kunsman, Moravian September 23, 2019 (Junior, GK - Northampton, Pa.) Junior Ashley Kunsman helped Moravian to a 1-1 record last week with a 0.43 goals-against average and 25 saves over two matches. Kunsman made 12 saves in a 1-0 loss at Wilkes University last Wednesday before stopping 13 shots in regulation and overtime and then another two shots in a shootout to lead Moravian to a 1-0 shootout win at Cedar Crest College on Saturday. Offensive Athlete of the Week - Gracie McClatchy, Scranton September 16, 2019 (Senior, F - Havertown, Pa.) Scranton senior Gracie McClatchy helped lead the Royals to a 3-0 week with two goals and two assists in the three contests. The senior forward tallied a goal and the game-winning assist in a 4-3 win versus Arcadia on Saturday. Earlier in the week, McClatchy had an assist against Misericordia (won 2-1) and scored a goal in the 2-0 shutout against King's (Pa.). Defensive Athlete of the Week - Nicole Piccioni, Juniata September 16, 2019 (Sophomore, GK - Richfield, Pa.) Juniata sophomore Nicole Piccioni helped the Eagle to a 2-1 week. The sophomore goalkeeper allowed just one goal to No. 7 Messiah while making seven saves before allowing just one goal in the next two contests. On the week, Piccioni made 14 saves for a .824 save percentage. Offensive Athlete of the Week - Danielle Johnson, Goucher September 09, 2019 (Senior, F/M - Salisbury, Md.) Goucher senior Danielle Johnson helped the Gophers to a pair of wins after posting five goals and two assists for 12 points in a pair of 8-0 wins over the weekend. The senior tallied her first collegiate hat trick and added an assist against Southern Virginia University on Saturday. She then added two goals and an assist in the victory against Ferrum on Sunday. Defensive Athlete of the Week - Emily Digaetano, Susquehanna September 09, 2019 (Senior, GK - Havertown, Pa.) Susquehanna senior Emily Digaetano helped the River Hawks to a 1-1 week. The senior allowed just one goal and made 12 saves in the 2-1 loss against Swarthmore before posting a 6-0 shutout against King's (Pa.). Digaetano made two saves in that game. Offensive Athlete of the Week - Ari Hooper, Goucher September 03, 2019 (Junior, F - San Diego, Calif.) Goucher junior Ari Hooper scored twice in a span of one minute and 28 seconds to propel Goucher to a 3-0 win against Transylvania on Sunday. She took over the game with a pair of goals at the 54:59 and 56:27 marks in the contest off feeders from Nolwenn Daniels and Meghan Oakes, respectively. Defensive Athlete of the Week - Carly Schiller, Drew September 03, 2019 (Sophomore, D, Ellicott City, Md.) Drew sophomore Carly Schiller contributed on both ends of the field in a 1-1 week for the Rangers. She helped her team hold Sage to a pair of goals in a 3-2 overtime victory in the team's season opener at the Drew Fall Festival. In the same game, she scored the team's first goal of the season, converting a penalty stroke early in the second quarter to tie the game at 1-1.
