2021-22 Golf Athletes of the Week Women's Athlete of the Week - Kate Pagano, Scranton April 19, 2022 Junior Kate Pagano led The University of Scranton women's golf team to its fifth consecutive win this spring as she won medalist honors at the Bloomsburg Invitational on Thursday afternoon with a round of 84 (+12). The Royals finished with a team score of 358. Men's Athlete of the Week - Mike Ford, Drew April 12, 2022 Drew University freshman Mile Ford battled tough conditions in the second round and placed 14th in a field of 57 with a 156 (77-79) to lead the Rangers to a fourth-place finish out of 11 teams at the highly-competitive Garden State Collegiate Classic. Women's Athlete of the Week - Kayla Diaz, Drew April 12, 2022 Diaz broke the school record for 18 holes and tied the Drew standard for 36 holes to lead the Rangers at the Historic Triangle Invitational in Williamsburg, Va. She shot a 72 in the second round to lower her school record by one stroke while tying her 36-hole mark of 148. Her efforts helped Drew finish fourth with a school record of 664, including a team record of 327 in the second round. Men's Athlete of the Week - Lucas Artigliere, Drew April 05, 2022 Artigliere posted a tremendous performance at The Kiln Intercollegiate, breaking the school record for 18 holes and tying the Drew standard for 36 holes. After opening with a 73, he fired a 3-under-par 69 in the final round, becoming the first Ranger in team history to break 70. He finished with a 2-under-par 142 to finish just one stroke behind the individual medalist. Artigliere's efforts also helped his team to an outstanding showing, as the Rangers finished second in a highly-competitive field with a school-record 36-hole score of 592 (294-298). Women's Athlete of the Week - Victoria Dowling, Scranton April 05, 2022 The University of Scranton sophomore Victoria Dowling helped lead the Royals to a team title this weekend against King's and Wilkes at the Stone Hedge Golf Course. The Royals shot a 368 to capture the title. Individually, Dowling placed third after carding an 88 (+17). Men's Athlete of the Week - Kaden Kinard, Catholic March 29, 2022 Kinard shot a one-under-par 71 to capture low medalist honors and lead the Cardinals to a second-place finish in the Cardinal Classic Saturday at Black Rock Golf Course. Division II Shepherd won the team title with a 299, just five strokes ahead of the Cardinals who totaled 304, their third-lowest total this season. Women's Athlete of the Week - Lauren Lombardo, Catholic March 28, 2022 Lombardo finished fourth to lead Catholic to a fourth-place finish in the Cardinal Classic Saturday at Black Rock Golf Course. She was the top Division III finisher as she shot an 80, two strokes ahead of Kalamazoo's Darby Scott. Kalamazoo was the top Division III team with 341 while Catholic came in fourth with 353. Men's Athlete of the Week - Jose Maria Gallegos, Goucher March 22, 2022 Goucher freshman Jose Maria Gallegos finished in a three-way tie for first and placed second in a playoff after shooting a 79 on Saturday and an 80 on Sunday at the Marlins Invitational, leading the Gophers to the team title by 10 strokes over N.C. Wesleyan. Women's Athlete of the Week - Kayla Diaz, Drew March 22, 2022 Diaz posted a stellar performance in her first match of the spring, claiming medalist honors at The Ruckus in Williamsburg, Va. She won by five strokes and broke the school record for the lowest 36-hole score in team history with a 148, taking four strokes from the previous mark. She carded a 73 in the second round to tie an additional Drew record. She also helped Drew break school records for both 18 holes (338) and 36 holes (676). Men's Athlete of the Week - Ethan Zawatski, Scranton October 26, 2021 University of Scranton junior Ethan Zawatski won individual medalist honors after shooting a 77 (+4) at the Landmark Conference Fall Preview last Saturday. Zawatski tied with Drew University's Mike Ford and was declared champion via tiebreaker due to a lower score on holes 15 thru 18. Zawatski helped the Royals finish with a team score of 331 alongside Goucher and won the tiebreaker over the Gophers due to the best low score of the day. Men's Athlete of the Week - Nick Kuhn, Moravian October 19, 2021 Kuhn led Moravian in a pair of events last week, averaging 75.0 per round, and finishing in the top four in both events at the par 70 Lehigh Country Club. Kuhn had a 76 to tie for fourth in the Muhlenberg Invitational, and he then carded a 74 to lead the Greyhounds to their sixth straight John Makuvek Cup over DeSales and Muhlenberg. Women's Athlete of the Week - Kayla Diaz, Drew October 19, 2021 Diaz closed out the fall season in impressive fashion, winning medalist honors in all three of her tournaments last week. She started by capturing the Muhlenberg Invitational, shooting a seven-over-par 77 to beat out 37 other competitors while helping the Rangers to a runner-up finish. She followed up with a victory at the Drew Spring Brook Invitational, carding an 80 (+8) to win by 10 strokes and powering Drew to the team title. Diaz closed out the week by winning the Landmark Conference Fall Preview, where she posted a three-over 75 for a six-stroke victory while helping her team to a runner-up showing. Men's Athlete of the Week - Mike Marie, Catholic October 12, 2021 Marie totaled a career-low in two of his three rounds last week as he posted a 76.3 scoring average. He captured medalist honors with a three-over-par 75 at the Hood College Fall Invitational, which was two strokes better than his previous career-best. He also shot his career-low for the second-straight match to lead the Cardinals with a three-over-par in the opening round of the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic. Women's Athlete of the Week - Lauren Lombardo, Catholic October 12, 2021 Lombardo finished first in both of the team's tournaments last week, posting an 80.0 average over three rounds. She began the week by capturing medalist honors at the Hood College Fall Invitational before tying for first place in her first career 36-hole event at the Shenandoah Fall Invitational. Lombardo shot a school-record 75 in the opening round, recorded the lowest round in program history for the second time this season. Women's Athlete of the Week - Ella Moores, Susquehanna October 05, 2021 Moores nearly matched her season-best score of 80 in a tri-match with F&M and McDaniel. The senior helped her team handily defeat McDaniel, but fell to F&M but just seven strokes. Moores shot her second-lowest score of the year. Men's Athlete of the Week - Zach Mueller, Catholic October 05, 2021 Mueller finished second to lead Catholic to a third-place finish at the Stevenson Fall Invitational. The Cardinals finished ahead of Landmark Conference rivals Goucher (8th, 328), Elizabethtown (9th, 343), and Juniata (10th, 344). Mueller carded a two-over par 73, one shot off his career-low 72. Men's Athlete of the Week - Nick Kuhn, Moravian September 28, 2021 Graduate student Nick Kuhn earned medalist honors out of the 57 golfers at the Ursinus College Invitational played at Raven's Claw Golf Club with an even-par round of 71. Kuhn's 71 was the lowest round of his collegiate career and included an eagle, two birdies, and 12 pars. Women's Athlete of the Week - Kayla Diaz, Drew September 28, 2021 Diaz placed fifth among 32 golfers and narrowly missed tying a school record for the Rangers at the Golden Oaks Shootout, hosted by Arcadia University. She finished with a 36-hole score of 156 (82-74), and her second-round score was just one stroke off the Drew record. Diaz helped the Rangers place third among five teams, shooting 712 (367-354). Men's Athlete of the Week - Colin Coogan, Catholic September 21, 2021 In two matches last week, Coogan tied and broke the school record for the lowest round. After tying the school record with a one-over-par 72 on Tuesday, he broke it on Saturday by carding a 2-under par 70. Meanwhile, the team totaled a score below 300 for the second time in school history as the Cardinals shot a school-record 291 Saturday. Women's Athlete of the Week - Madalyne Buhler, Scranton September 21, 2021 Buhler kicked off her second season in style this weekend, earning medalist honors in two events and helping Scranton open the year 3-0. In her season debut Saturday at Wyoming Valley, C.C., she fired a 75 (+3), a career-low, and the lowest ever shot by a Royal in program history. Men's Athlete of the Week - Stephen Butler, Scranton September 14, 2021 In the first two events of his collegiate career, Butler was impressive for the Royals, carding a pair of 74's to help Scranton roll past King's, Misericordia, and Wilkes. He helped the Royals post one of their lowest scores in an event in program history, as the 295 at Irem Temple Country Club on Tuesday was the seventh-lowest in an event.
