2018-19 Basketball Athletes of the Week Men's Athlete of the Week - Riley Collins, Drew February 18, 2019 (Jr, G - Lacey, N.J.) Drew junior Riley Collins averaged 23.0 points and 7.5 assists per game, leading the Rangers to a pair of milestone victories. He opened the week with 12 points and seven assists as the Rangers clinched the No. 1 seed in the Landmark Conference for the first time in team history with a 64-52 win over Scranton. Then in a 92-90 victory over Catholic, he nailed a pair of go-ahead free throws with three seconds left to cap off a 34-point game as Drew broke the school record for most wins (20) in a season. With the Rangers trailing by 12 at the half, Collins put the team on his back, scoring 23 points and dishing out all eight of his assists. He played all 20 minutes of the second period, when he shot 7-for-10 from the field, including 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, and 6-for-7 at the free-throw line.For the week, he shot 44.1 percent from the floor, including 50.0 percent (4-8) from 3-point range, and 92.3 percent (12-13) at the foul line. Men's Athlete of the Week - Matthew Mancuso, Scranton February 11, 2019 (Jr., F - Bridgewater, N.J.) University of Scranton junior Matthew Mancuso had a pair of double-doubles on the week, leading Scranton to a pair of Landmark Conference victories. On Wednesday, the junior forward scored 16 points and had 12 rebounds as the Royals knocked off Moravian in overtime, 86-80. In a 77-68 win over Juniata on Saturday, Mancuso posted game-highs of 20 points and 15 rebounds, also a career-high, as the Royals clinched a playoff berth with the win. He finished the week shooting 64.7 percent from the field while adding five assists, five steals, and three blocks. Men's Athlete of the Week - Dominic Dunn, Susquehanna February 04, 2019 (Fr, G - Haddon Township, N.J.) Susquehanna University freshman Dominic Dunn had two straight double-doubles to help the River Hawks to a 2-0 week. He put up 18 points and 12 rebounds for the second time this season against Scranton. Dunn followed up that performance with 17 points and 11 rebounds against Elizabethtown. On the week, Dunn shot 42% from the field and was a perfect 10-for-10 from the charity stripe. Men's Athlete of the Week - Nate Aldrich, Drew January 28, 2019 (Sr, F - Franklinville, N.J.) Drew University senior Nate Aldrich posted three consecutive double-doubles, averaging 19.3 points and 14.0 rebounds per game while shooting 63.6 percent from the field in a 2-1 week for the Rangers. In a 66-64 victory over Juniata, who posted 24 points, 14 rebounds, and three blocked shots while shooting 11-for-15 from the field. He also scored his 1,000th career point in the game. In addition, Aldrich had 22 points and 15 rebounds in a victory at Elizabethtown and 12 points and 13 rebounds in a loss at Scranton. Men's Athlete of the Week - Matthew Mancuso, Scranton January 21, 2019 (Jr., F - Bridgewater, N.J.) University of Scranton junior Matthew Mancuso averaged 21.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 2.0 steals in Scranton's 1-1 week. The junior forward shot 52.6 percent from the field and went 88.5 percent from the free throw line on the week. After totaling 18 points and seven rebounds in an 87-76 loss to Susquehanna on Wednesday, Mancuso poured in game-highs of 25 points and 13 rebounds on Saturday at Juniata as the Royals defeated the Eagles 64-59 for the 1,500th win in program history. Men's Athlete of the Week - Nate Aldrich, Drew January 14, 2019 (Sr, F - Franklinville, N.J.) Drew University Nate Aldrich averaged 19.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game while shooting 56.7 percent from the field in a 2-0 week for the first-place Rangers. He opened with a 20-point, seven-rebound performance in an 88-84 victory at Susquehanna. He followed up with his fourth double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds in an 85-50 win over Goucher. Aldrich shot 9-for-14 against the River Hawks and 8-for-16 versus the Gophers, helping Drew push its record to 12-3 - its best start since 1979-80 - and 4-0 in the conference. Men's Athlete of the Week - Connor Moffatt, Elizabethtown January 07, 2019 (Jr, F - Mountville, Pa.) Elizabethtown junior Connor Moffatt led the Blue Jays to a 2-1 stretch over the holiday break, including an upset bid of #25 Scranton this past Saturday. Moffatt shot better than 60 percent in two of the three contests and averaged .576 over the three games. He shot 9-for-13 at John Jay on Dec. 30 in a 67-55 win and hit 5 of his 8 three-point attempts and ended with 26 points and 16 rebounds. Against nationally-ranked Scranton, Moffatt grabbed a defensive board with six seconds left, dribbled across half court and on the run, launched a shot that swished through the net as time expired to give E-town its first Landmark win of the season, 67-64. Moffatt averaged 16.7 ppg and 11.7 rpg for the Jays over his last three. Men's Athlete of the Week - Oneil Holder, Moravian December 17, 2018 (Sr., F - East Stroudsburg, Pa.) Moravian College senior Oneil Holder had his third double-double of the season and 15th of his career as he posted 26 points and 11 boards to go with four assists as Moravian won its seventh straight contest, coming from behind to defeat rival Muhlenberg College, 79-75. Men's Athlete of the Week - Brandon Martinazzi, Juniata December 10, 2018 (Sr., G - Cresson, Pa.) Juniata College senior Brandon Martinazzi had a strong scoring week as he helped the Eagles to a 2-1 record. The senior averaged 18.7 points and 2.3 rebounds to go along with nine assists and five steals. He scored his 1,000th point on the first shot of the game in the 78-71 win against Wilson and was named the Doc Greene Tournament Most Valuable Player after leading the Eagles past Lebanon Valley, 90-71. Men's Athlete of the Week - Zach Knecht, Susquehanna December 03, 2018 (Jr, F - Parkland, Fla.) Susquehanna junior Zach Knecht went 15-of-21 from the field on the week. He scored 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting and had 12 rebounds as he took over the game against Juniata to win first conference matchup. He also added two steals, one assist, and one block. Knecht scored 21 points, while shooting 72.7 percent (8-of-11) and had 11 rebounds against Misericordia. For the week, he averaged 19.5 points while shooting 71.4 percent from the floor and averaged 11.5 rebounds. Men's Athlete of the Week - Matthew Mancuso, Scranton November 26, 2018 (Jr., F - Bridgewater, N.J.) The University of Scranton's Matthew Mancuso recorded game-highs of 25 points and nine rebounds on Tuesday night to lead the Royals to an 84-74 victory over Widener. The junior shot six-of-nine from the field and went 12-of-13 from the free throw line while also adding three blocks and two assists. Mancuso has now scored at least 20 points in three of the Royals' first four games this season. Men's Athlete of the Week - Riley Collins, Drew November 19, 2018 (Jr, G - Lacey, N.J.) Drew University's Riley Collins enjoyed a tremendous opening week, averaging 27.3 points per game to lead the Rangers to a 3-0 start. He was named MVP of Drew's Larry Horner C'40 Rose City Classic after scoring a tournament-record 59 points over two games. In the championship game, he poured in a career-high 35 points in an 88-73 win over Washington and Lee while shooting 11-for-17 and 4-for-6 from 3-point range. He helped the Rangers hold off a late rally by scoring 16 points in the final 4:56. Collins opened the tournament with 24 points in a 73-69 win over Wheaton (Mass.), shooting 9-for-16 and 6-for-10 from beyond the arc, and he also scored 23 points in Drew's season-opening 76-70 victory at FDU-Florham. For the week, Collins shot 53.7 percent from the field, 52.4 percent (11-for-21) from 3-point land, and 92.9 percent (13-for-14) at the foul line. Men's Athlete of the Week - Matthew Mancuso, Scranton November 12, 2018 (Jr., F - Bridgewater, N.J.) The University of Scranton junior Matthew Mancuso posted a double-double on 20 points and a game-high 13 assists to lead Scranton to an 86-65 victory over Stevenson in the Royals' season opener on Saturday. The junior shot 53.3 percent from the field and made four of six free throw attempts in the win.
