2020-21 Basketball Athletes of the Week Men's Athlete of the Week - Jackson Danzig, Scranton March 01, 2021 Junior Jackson Danzig put together a pair of solid games for the Royals over the weekend, as Scranton locked up the No. 2 seed in the Landmark Conference playoffs with a pair of victories over Juniata Friday & Saturday. On Saturday, he scored a season-high 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting, while adding five rebounds and two assists and two steals. Although he scored just eight points on Friday at Juniata, he pulled down a season-high nine rebounds in a comeback win in overtime. Men's Rookie of the Week - Evan Eisenhart, Juniata March 01, 2021 Juniata College freshman Evan Eisenhart helped the Eagles to a win against Catholic University last week. Eisenhart tallied eight points in the second half points and made free-throws down the stretch to keep the Cardinals at bay. In the weekend matchup against Scranton, the rookie scored nine points to go along with five rebounds in the first game. In the season finale, Eisenhart notched eight points on 2-of-6 shooting. Men's Athlete of the Week - David Gervase, Drew February 22, 2021 Drew University junior David Gervase averaged 22.0 points per game coming off the bench to help lead the Rangers to a series sweep of Juniata. Playing just 24.5 minutes per game, he shot 52.0% from the field and 77.8% (14-18) at the foul line. Gervase opened the week with some clutch play in a 72-69 overtime victory at Juniata, where he scored 18 points, including the first six in Drew's game-ending 8-0 run that erased a five-point overtime deficit. He followed up with a 26-point showing in the Rangers' 68-65 home victory over the Eagles. Gervase erupted for 17 first-half points to help stake the Rangers to a 37-15 halftime lead. He finished 8-for-12 from the field, including 4-for-6 from beyond the arc. Men's Rookie of the Week - Jesse Hafemeister, Catholic February 22, 2021 Freshman Jesse Hafemeister averaged 16.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.3 assists in three games last week. He scored 14 points in back-to-back road wins at Juniata and Scranton as the Cardinals secured their first four-game win streak since Dec. 30, 2017. The win against Scranton also snapped a four-game losing streak against the Royals and marked Catholic's first road triumph in the series since Feb. 10, 2018. On Sunday, Hafemeister posted his second career 20-point game while adding a career-high nine rebounds. Men's Athlete of the Week - Logan Bailey, Scranton February 15, 2021 Logan Bailey kicked off his senior season at Scranton with three straight double-digit point games, leading the Royals to a 2-1 mark in their first week of competition. Opened his season with a 26-point night vs. Moravian on Tuesday night, shooting a blistering 71.4 percent from the floor in the victory (10-14) After leading the Royals in scoring in a loss Friday at Drew, he added 11 points and a week-high eight rebounds in a win over the Rangers on Sunday. Also has eight steals and five blocks on the week. Men's Rookie of the Week - Jesse Hafemeister, Catholic February 15, 2021 Freshman Jesse Hafemeister averaged 19.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in two games last week, both Catholic victories. He scored 30 points, including 20 in the first half, to lead the Cardinals to a 58-56 victory over Moravian Friday in their home opener. He became the first freshman to score at least 30 points for Catholic since Feb. 19, 2014 and the first Cardinal freshman to score at least 30 points in a regulation game since Feb. 23, 2008. Men's Athlete of the Week - Howard McBurnie, Drew February 08, 2021 Drew University sophomore Howard McBurnie opened the season with a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds in Drew's 69-65 win over Catholic. He also notched three assists, three steals, and a pair of blocked shots. McBurnie scored 13 of his points in a big first half in which he shot 4-for-6 from the field. Men's Rookie of the Week - Chase Husted, Juniata February 08, 2021 Juniata College freshman Chase Husted helped the Eagles to a pair of conference wins to open the 2020-21 season. Husted averaged 13.5 points and 12.5 rebounds to go along with four assists.
