  • Men's Athlete of the Week - Karel Raska, Drew
    March 16, 2020
    (Sr., - Morristown, N.J.) Drew senior Karel Raska finished a combined 2-1 in a pair of Drew victories, helping the Rangers improve to 12-0 on the season. He won at No. 1 singles in a victory over Lehman before picking up a win at No. 3 singles versus Rowan College of South Jersey.
     
  • Men's Athlete of the Week - Slade Dumas, Goucher
    March 09, 2020
    (Sr., - Great Falls, Va.) Goucher senior Slade Dumas bounced back in the final two sets against nationally-ranked College of New Jersey last week. Dumas lost the first set 6-1, but then recovered to earn a 6-4 win in the second set to force a third set where the senior edged the Lions No. 3 player Thomas Wright 11-9 to earn a singles victory against a nationally-ranked opponent. Dumas, who is now 3-1 on the year, has moved into a tie with Tim Hannigan (1997-01) for fourth place on the program's all-time career singles win list with 59 victories.
     
  • Men's Athlete of the Week - Bryce Weizer, Drew
    March 02, 2020
    (Senior, Orwigsburg, Pa.) Drew University senior Bryce Weizer enjoyed a perfect day on Drew's Spring Break opener in Hilton Head, going a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles while running his singles winning streak to 24. He won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6 singles to clinch the Rangers' 5-4 win over Bridgewater, and he also picked up an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles with John Dickey. Later in the day, he won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 singles and teamed up with Dickey again for an 8-5 victory at No. 3 doubles in an 8-1 win over St. John Fisher.
     
  • Men's Athlete of the Week - Tetsuya Ota, Goucher
    February 24, 2020
    (Jr., Wesley Chapel, Fla.) Goucher junior Tetsuya Ota went 3-0 in his first week of competition in the spring, but may have had his biggest win of his collegiate career with a three-set win against the No. 14 player in NCAA Division III. Ota earned a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 win against Salisbury's Alec Angredi, who is ranked No. 14 in NCAA Division III and No. 2 in the Atlantic South Region. Ota also went 2-1 in doubles with new teammate Brian Kane. The duo beat Virginia Wesleyan 8-5 on Saturday and then won by the same score against Methodist before falling to Salisbury 8-2.
     
  • Men's Athlete of the Week - Brian Kane, Goucher
    October 07, 2019
    (Sophomore, - Philadelphia, Pa.) Goucher sophomore Brian Kane made his way through the B4 Singles all the way to the finals of the ITA Southeast Regional and went 3-1 over the weekend. Kane had a battle in his opening match in the Round of 16, but defeated Alexander Kulvivat of Randolph thanks to a 14-12 tiebreaker in the third set, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (14-12). The sophomore then took care of Nicholas Simeone of Arcadia, 6-1, 6-1 in the quarterfinals and then downed Matthew Fontanese of Ursinus, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (2) to advance to the B4 Singles Final. He then lost 6-1, 6-4 to Noah Sellinger of Muhlenburg.
     
  • Men's Athlete of the Week - John Duncan, Susquehanna
    September 30, 2019
    (Freshman, - Bloomsburg, Pa.) Freshman John Duncan posted a 4-0 record in a 2-0 week for Susquehanna. Duncan rallied from one set down to defeat Alvernia's No. 4 player before dropping only one game in his win over Harrisburg's No. 4 player. He and his partner, Joshua Sanderson, went undefeated at No. 2 doubles to improve to 5-0 in dual matches.
     
  • Men's Athlete of the Week - Tetsuya Ota, Goucher
    September 23, 2019
    (Junior, - Wesley Chapel, Fla.) Goucher junior Tetsuya Ota went 3-1 in singles play and 2-2 in doubles play to finish sixth at the Loyola Men's Tennis Invitational, a predominantly NCAA Division I Tournament over the weekend.
     
  • Men's Athlete of the Week - Tarquin McGurrin, Scranton
    September 16, 2019
    (Junior, - Clarks Summit, Pa. ) McGurrin captured the No. 1 singles flight title at the King's Fall Invitational for the second consecutive year. The junior defeated Zack Hemond 6-2, 6-1 to open the invitational and followed that performance with a 7-6, 6-1 win against Danny Lynn of DeSales. In his final match of the weekend, he defeated Juan Huertas of Manhattanville 6-2, 6-3.
     
  • Men's Athlete of the Week - Adrian Condes, Moravian
    September 09, 2019
    (Freshman, - Glenside, Pa.) Moravian freshman Adrian Condes began his collegiate career with a pair of victories to lead Moravian to a 9-0 sweep at Cairn University. Condes combined with fellow freshman Kieran Pisani for an 8-0 win at second doubles before posting an 8-2 victory at first singles as part of the Hounds' sweep.
