2020-21 Men's Tennis Athletes of the Week Men's Athlete of the Week - Slade Dumas, Goucher April 26, 2021 Goucher senior Slade Dumas won all of his matches in the week for both singles and doubles, but his two singles wins were historic events. On Wednesday, Dumas played his second-ever three-set clinching match, and earned a 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles against Catholic. With that win, he tied the Goucher College men's tennis career singles wins mark with 64 wins. In a rematch against the Cardinals four days later, Dumas won his No. 1 singles match in the nation's capital, 6-2, 6-0, to become the program's all-time career leader with 65 singles wins. He also ties Juniata's Bryan Gregory (65, 2012-16) for the Landmark Conference record. Goucher defeated Catholic in both matches on the week by a score of 5-4 with Dumas' match being the deciding match both times. Dumas and his doubles partner Omosesan Adebamgbe also won their doubles matches in the week, earning an 8-7 (7-3) win on Wednesday, and an 8-5 win on Saturday. Men's Athlete of the Week - Tarquin McGurrin, Scranton April 19, 2021 University of Scranton senior Tarquin McGurrin remained unbeaten on the season in both singles and doubles play as he led the Royals to a 2-1 week that included wins over Catholic and Goucher. Playing at No. 1 singles, McGurrin defeated Drew's Geoffrey Diehl 6-1, 6-0. He followed that performance with a 6-2, 6-0 win against Frankie Fortunati of Catholic. Against Goucher, the senior defeated Slade Dumas 6-1, 6-2. Men's Athlete of the Week - Omosesan Adebamgbe, Goucher April 12, 2021 Goucher's Omosesan Adebamgbe only allowed one game in two singles and two doubles matches on the weekend. He won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles against Elizabethtown on Saturday, and then against Moravian on Sunday, won at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0. The sophomore is now 5-1 in singles matches in Landmark Conference play in his career and has won his last five matches. In doubles, Adebamgbe and Slade Dumas won 8-0 at No. 1 doubles against both Elizabethtown and Moravian. The tandem is now 11-0 all-time in regular-season conference matches in their career. Men's Athlete of the Week - Slade Dumas, Goucher April 05, 2021 Senior Slade Dumas won both of his matches on Saturday, including giving Goucher the 5-4 win over Susquehanna University, with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. The singles win was his 61st of his career to move into a tie for third place on the program's all-time career list. Dumas also teamed up with Omosesan Adebamgbe at No. 1 singles to earn an 8-5 win.
