  • Men's Athlete of the Week - Guillaume Gouronc, Elizabethtown
    February 04, 2019
    (Sr., Bouc-Bel-Air, France) Elizabethtown College senior Guillaume Gouronc won a pair of individual events and was second in another and swam a leg on a winning relay as E-town won big at Gallaudet on Saturday, 209-35, in their final dual meet of the season. Gouronc won both breaststroke events, the 100 and 200, was the second leg of the winning 200 medley relay to start the meet, and placed second in the 200 IM for the Blue Jays.
     
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Stephanie Cushman, Drew
    February 04, 2019
    (Jr., Brick, N.J.) Drew University junior Stephanie Cushman contributed to three victories, helping the Rangers defeat Ramapo 120-85 in Drew's final dual meet of the season. She opened the meet by swimming the leadoff backstroke leg of the winning 200-medley relay team (1:55.96). Cushman went on to win both the 200-IM (2:22.18) and the 100-backstroke (1:01.40), winning by nearly four seconds in the former and over three seconds in the latter.
     
  • Men's Athlete of the Week - Eric Towse, Susquehanna
    January 28, 2019
    (Fr., Staten Island, N.Y.) Susquehanna University freshman Eric Towse set a pool record in the 100 backstroke (52.71) in the win over Scranton. Towse bested his own pool record of 53.15, which he established back on October 27, 2018 against Bloomsburg. He led off both 200 medley relays.
     
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Mal Vishwanath, Drew
    January 28, 2019
    (Jr., Bangalore, India) Drew University junior Mal Vishwanath placed first in three events as Drew defeated Goucher 141-58. Individually, she captured both the 200-butterfly (2:13.13) and 400-IM (4:44.89). Her time in the 200-fly is the second fastest time in the Landmark this season, while her 400-IM time is the fastest. She also swam the leadoff leg for the winning 400-freestyle relay team (4:01.18).
     
  • Men's Athlete of the Week - Eric Towse, Susquehanna
    January 21, 2019
    (Fr., Staten Island, N.Y.) Susquehanna University freshman Eric Towse won two events and picked up a second-place finish against Ursinus last week. In the 100 back, Towse touched the wall in 53.50. The time is the third best this season. In the 200 IM, he placed first with a time of 2:01.02 and was second in the 200 back, touching the wall in 1:56.03.
     
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Caitlin Kelly, Susquehanna
    January 21, 2019
    (Jr., West Chester, Pa.) Susquehanna University junior Caitlin Kelly was the only River Hawk with multiple wins in the loss to No. 18 Ursinus. She won the 1000 free with her time of 11:03.57, the third best time in the conference this season. She also picked up the win in the 500 free with her time of 5:19.84, also third best in the conference. She rounded out her day with a second place finish in the 200 free, touching the wall in 1:59.59.
     
  • Men's Athlete of the Week - Greg McCarthy, Catholic
    January 14, 2019
    (So., Silver Spring, Md.) Catholic University sophomore Greg McCarthy took first in four events in Catholic's 160-102 non conference win over Washington College. He touched the wall first in the 100-breaststroke (1:00.09), 200-breaststroke (2:13.25), 200-IM (1:59.13), and was part of the first-place 200-medley relay team.
     
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Lauren Byrne, Scranton
    January 14, 2019
    (So., Cranford, N.J.) University of Scranton sophomore Lauren Byrne was impressive in a dual meet yet again for the Royals, as she helped the team improve their record to 6-1 on the year with a 180-79 victory over Elizabethtown on Sunday. She swam the third leg on the 200-medley relay team, while her time in the 400-IM was over 11 seconds better (4:48.88) than the second place finisher in the event. Byrne also earned a first-place finish in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:10.41.
     
  • Men's Athlete of the Week - Michael Ma, Drew
    December 03, 2018
    (Jr., Redwood City, Calif.) Junior Michael Ma had a hand in six victories and three school records while helping Drew capture the Ranger Invitational. He won the 200-IM (1:56.46), the 200-butterfly (1:58.57), the backstroke (1:56.42), the 200-freestyle relay (1:26.40), the 400-medley relay (3:34.62), and the 400-freestyle relay (3:11.55). He broke school records in both the 200-butterfly and 200-backstroke, which had stood for 16 years. He also swam on the 200-free relay that lowered the Drew record. Ma's times in the 200-IM and 200-back currently lead the Landmark Conference.
     
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Mal Vishwanath, Drew
    December 03, 2018
    (Jr., Bangalore, India) Junior Mal Vishwanath placed first in seven of her eight events, earned two NCAA B cuts, and contributed to a pair of school records while helping Drew win the Ranger Invitational. Individually, she won the 200-freestyle (1:51.95), 500-freestyle (5:03.70), and 1,650-freestyle (17:17.39) while achieving B cuts in both the 200 and 1650 and lowering her own school record in the 200. She also swam as an exhibition competitor in the 100-freestyle and placed first in 53.27. In the relays, Vishwanath helped the 400-medley (4:03.52) and 400-freestyle (3:40.06) squads to victory. In addition, she helped the exhibitioned 800-freestyle relay team finish first and reset the school record in 7:54.40.
     
  • Men's Athlete of the Week - John Fimmano, Scranton
    November 19, 2018
    (So., Southbury, Conn.) University of Scranton sophomore John Fimmano helped the Royals put together a solid third place finish at the Diamond City Invitational over the weekend, as he won two individual events, both of which were contested on Sunday. He dominated in the 200-butterfly, winning the event by almost five seconds, and also helped three relay teams to a trio of top-three finishes, as well.
     
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Mal Vishwanath, Drew
    November 19, 2018
    (Jr., Bangalore, India) Drew University junior Mal Vishwanath won three events as the Rangers split a pair of dual meets with Arcadia and Elizabethtown. She cruised to convincing victories in the 1000-freestyle (10:46.96), 200-freestyle (1:58.15), and 500-freestyle (5:15.30) as Drew defeated Etown 164-96 but lost 136-126 to Arcadia. She won by 13 seconds in the 1000, three seconds in the 200, and eight seconds in the 500 while posting the top times in the Landmark Conference this season in both the 1000 and 500.
     
  • Men's Athlete of the Week - Hunter Mona, Juniata
    November 12, 2018
    (Fr., State College, Pa.) Juniata College freshman Hunter Mona contributed to two victories in Juniata's win over Penn State-Altoona last week.He touched first in both the 200-freestyle (1:53.76) and 500-freestle (5:01.77). His time in the 500-free broke the Juniata team record.
     
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Tabi Dettelback, Juniata
    November 12, 2018
    (Fr., Martinsville, N.J.) Juniata College freshman Tabi Dettelback won four individual events she competed during the week as Juniata went 1-1. In the win over Penn State-Altoona, she won the 100-individual medley, and 100-backstroke while helping the Eagles take first in the 200-medley relay. Against Kutztown, she won the 100-IM and 100-back again, and helped the 200-medley relay team to a third place finish.
     
  • Men's Athlete of the Week - Jake Zajdzinski, Drew
    November 05, 2018
    (Fr.) Drew University freshman Jake Zajdzinski contributed to three victories in Drew's sweep of Marywood and Susquehanna. He touched first in both the 50-freestyle (21.91) and 100-freestyle (48.59) while swimming the fastest times in the Landmark Conference this season in both events. He also swam the leadoff leg of the winning 400-freestyle relay that posted the top time in the conference this year (3:17.99).
     
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Lauren Byrne, Scranton
    November 05, 2018
    (So., Cranford, N.J.) University of Scranton sophomore Lauren Byrne won all four individual events she competed during the week as Scranton went 3-0. In a win on Friday over King's, she won the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke while helping the Royals take first in the 400 medley relay. On Saturday at Juniata, she broke a pool record in the 200 freestyle, winning the event and also taking first in the 100 butterfly as Scranton defeated Juniata and Goucher in a tri-meet.0 free.
     
  • Men's Athlete of the Week - Matthew Mills, Scranton
    October 29, 2018
    (So., Sewell, N.J.) University of Scranton sophomore Matthew Mills opened the Royals' home schedule with a strong performance in a 148-114 loss to Catholic in the Byron Center. He won the 50 free and 200 backstroke events, finished second in the 200 IM and anchored the winning 200 medley relay team.
     
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Lauren Byrne, Scranton
    October 29, 2018
    (So., Cranford, N.J.) University of Scranton sophomore Lauren Byrne won two individual events and two relays and swam the key leg in the final relay as the Royals defeated Catholic, 135-127, on Saturday. Needing to win the 200 freestyle relay to win the event, the Royals held a slim lead of .03 seconds when Byrne dove into the pool for the anchor leg. She proceeded to swim away from the competition as the Royals won the relay by more than a second to win the meet. She also swam the anchor leg on the 200 medley relay team that opened the meet with a win, and won the 100 backstroke and 100 free.
     
  • Men's Athlete of the Week - Michael Ma, Drew
    October 22, 2018
    (Jr., Redwood City, Calif.) Drew University junior Michael Ma won a pair of events as Drew defeated Montclair State 112-107. He touched first in both the 200-IM (2:01.78) and the 200-butterfly (2:01.41) as the Rangers earned their first victory over the Red Hawks since 2001. He also swam on the 200-medley relay team that placed second (1:39.60).
     
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Abby Shapiro, Drew
    October 22, 2018
    (Fr., Tampa, Fla.) Drew University freshman Abby Shapiro captured both the 200-freestyle (2:04.72) and the 500-freestyle (5:30.72) in Drew's 137-98 loss to Montclair State. She also swam on the 200-freestyle relay "B" team that came in fourth (1:54.49).
     
  • Men's Athlete of the Week - Greg McCarthy, Catholic
    October 15, 2018
    (So., Silver Spring, Md.) Catholic University freshman Greg McCarthy picked up right where he left off last season, earning two individual titles and a second-place finish. He claimed first in the 200-IM with a time of 2:01.87 and 200-butterfly, touching the wall in 2:02.71. He was a member of the second-place 200-medley relay team.
     
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Mal Vishwanath, Drew

    (Jr., Bangalore, India) Drew University junior Mal Vishwanath had a hand in three wins to lead Drew in its season opener, a 114-91 loss at Stevens. She recorded convincing victories in both the 200-freestyle (1:57.49) and 500-freestyle (5:17.90), winning by over seven seconds in the former and 14 seconds in the latter. She also swam the breaststroke leg of the 200-medley relay that prevailed by over four seconds (1:54.87).
