2015-16 Women's Basketball Athletes of the Week Women's Athlete of the Week - Angie Schedler (Susquehanna) February 22, 2016 (So, G - Alexandria, Va.) Schedler averaged nearly 21 points over three games this past week. She had double-digits in all three games with a week-high 29 in a win over Goucher. She shot 40 percent for the week both from the floor and from three-point range. She also averaged four rebounds per game to go along with nine assists, three steals and two blocks. This season, Schedler is leading the team in scoring (17.3 ppg). She is shooting 40.4 percent from the floor, 33 percent from three-point range and 76 percent from the free throw line. She is also averaging 3.3 rebounds per game and has 54 assists, 14 blocks and 41 steals. She is averaging 33.6 minutes per game. SU is 17-7 overall and 10-6 in the conference and will be either the No. 3 or No. 4 seed in the tournament. The team also finished the season 11-2 at home. Women's Athlete of the Week - Emily Martin (Elizabethtown) February 15, 2016 (Jr, C - Lancaster, Pa.) Emily Martin did it all for Elizabethtown in two games this past week. Martin registered her 11th and 12th double-doubles of the year with 15 points and 12 rebounds in a big non-conference road win at Stevenson last Monday before posting 22 points and 19 boards in an 86-80 win over Moravian. Martin shot 47% from the floor, 90% from the free throw line and had five steals against the Mustangs and four blocks against the Greyhounds. She averaged 18.5 points and 15.5 rebounds in the past week. Women's Athlete of the Week - Emily Martin (Elizabethtown) February 08, 2016 (Jr, C - Lancaster, Pa.) Elizabethtown junior center Emily Martin went over 20 points in each of her two games this past week. She posted a career-high 26 points in a big road win at Catholic. Her ten made field goals and 66.7% FG percentage were both season-bests. She also added ten boards for her tenth double-double of the year. Martin went on to tally 21 points in a 20-point win at Goucher on Saturday. She made a career-high 11 free throws and grabbed another seven rebounds to average 23.5 points and 8.5 rebounds over the two games. Women's Athlete of the Week - Amaka Ezeani (Goucher) February 01, 2016 (Sr., C - Silver Spring, Md.) Ezeani posted her first double-double of season, fifth of her career with 22-point, 10-rebound performance against the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. She is on pace to finish with highest career field-goal percentage in history of Goucher's women's basketball program. She recorded a career-high seven blocked shots vs. USMMA, and helped Goucher to win three Landmark Conference women's basketball games in a row. Women's Athlete of the Week - Alexix Roman (Scranton) January 25, 2016 (Jr, F - Hawley, Pa.) Roman led all scorers with 29 points and 11 rebounds in a big win over Moravian on Wednesday night, leading the Lady Royals in a game in which they never trailed. She missed just two shots from the floor on the evening (12-of-14) and one free throw (5-of-6), and leads Scranton for the year in scoring averaging 18.9 points per game. The junior has scored in double-figures in 16 of 17 games for the year, going over the 20-point plateau eight times, and is fifth in Division III in field goal percentage (67.3) and seventh in field goals made (136). Athlete of the Week - Sarah Payonk (Scranton) January 18, 2016 (Jr, F - Schwenksville, Pa.) Payonk became just the third University of Scranton player to notch a triple-double in a contest on Saturday against Catholic, ending the game with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. The feat was accomplished for the first time by a Scranton player since 2003, ans she has now scored in double-figures in 12 straight games, going into double-figures in assists in seven games for the season. The 10 assist evening was a career-best for the Junior, and she is averaging 13.1 points and 9.6 rebounds per game on the year. Payonk entered the weekend ranked 14th in total assists in NCAA Division III (77) and seventh in free throw shooting percentage (89.6). Athlete of the Week - Sarah Payonk (Scranton) January 11, 2016 (Jr, F - Schwenksville, Pa.) Has scored in double-figures in 11 straight games, as Scranton is off to their best start since the 1994-95 season at 15-0. Payonk kicked the week off almost recording her first triple-double against Drew on Tuesday, matching career-high's with 26 points and nine assists in the win. She had her sixth double-double of the season at Susquehanna on Thursday after snatching 16 rebounds in the victory. The junior is averaging 13 points a game and 16.2 a contest in Landmark Conference play, and is also averaging a double-double in Conference play with 11.2 'boards a contest. Athlete of the Week - Courtney Stephens (Drew) January 04, 2016 (Sr, F - Pikesville, Md.) Senior forward Courtney Stephens scored her 1,000th career point in a 65-57 victory at Juniata College on Saturday, becoming the 10th member of the elite club. She netted 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting during just 28 minutes played to help the Rangers improve to 3-0 in the Landmark Conference for the first time since the league's inception in 2007. For the week, Stephens averaged 15.3 points over three games, adding 8.7 rebounds per game. She shot 47% from the field, passed out four assists, picked up two steals and blocks apiece, and turned the ball over just twice over 100 total minutes. Athlete of the Week - Alexix Roman - (Scranton) December 21, 2015 (Jr, F - Waverly, Pa.) Led the Lady Royals in scoring in two of the three games they played in on the week. Her 30-point output against Emory & Henry on Sunday in Las Vegas matched a career high for the junior. She had a double-double against Johnson & Wales on Tuesday was her fourth of the season, and has scored in double-figures in all 10 games on the year for Scranton. Roman is averaging 19.9 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per contest. Athlete of the Week - Alesha Marcks (Moravian) December 14, 2015 (Sr, F - Northampton, Pa.) Marcks helped the Greyhounds to a 1-1 record last week while averaging 16.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. Marcks connected on 13-of-22 field goal attempts, and she sot 5-for-6 from the foul line during the week to go with five steals and three blocked shots while playing 53 minutes. Marcks had 14 points and seven rebounds in a 79-37 win over Wilkes University, and she added 18 points in a 73-66 loss to No. 25 Albright College as Moravian had its nine-game winning streak. Athlete of the Week - Sarah Payonk (Scranton) December 07, 2015 (Jr., F - Schwenksville, Pa.) Had back-to-back double digit scoring games, as the Lady Royals moved to 6-0 on the season. She posted an historic game on the glass in Scranton's Conference opening victory at Juniata on Saturday, as she posted the fourth best rebounding game in program history with her 21 'board effort. Her rebounding total was the most for a Scranton player in a game since 1994. She also registered her second double-double of the season in the victory against the Eagles. Athlete of the Week - Alexis Wright (Moravian) November 30, 2015 (Sr, F - Shillington, Pa.) Wright helped Moravian to its fifth straight win with her fourth double-double of the season and the 46th of her career in Moravian's 81-74 win at DeSales. Wright had 12 points and a game-high 18 rebounds in the win. She became the second player in Moravian history to reach 1,000 career rebounds with her second of the game, and Wright became Moravian's all-time leading rebounder with her 17th board of the contest, passing Kathy Beck DeKorte's mark of 1,014. Wright also added five blocked shots, three steals and three assists while playing 35 minutes in the contest. Athlete of the Week - Emily Martin (Elizabethtown) November 23, 2015 (Jr, C - Lancaster, Pa.) Elizabethtown College junior center Emily Martin has been a dominant force early in the season for the Blue Jays. Martin had two straight double-doubles to start the week, both coming in wins at Lebanon Valley last Tuesday and at Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. The Lancaster native totaled 12 points and 11 boards at LVC before going off for a season-best 20 points at F&M. Martin added her second consecutive 20-point game on Sunday against Albright in the Terry Greene Memorial Tournament championship and was named to the All-Tournament team. For the week, Martin averaged 17.3 ppg and 9.0 rpg. She also added eight blocks and seven steals on the defensive side of the ball. Athlete of the Week - Nikki Komara (Susquehanna) November 16, 2015 (Jr, G - Shamokin, Pa.) Komara started both OT games this week, logging 44.5 minutes per game. She finished with 18.0 ppg including a 21-point performance in 78-73 2 OT win over Messiah. She also scored 15 points against Rowan. She shot 50 percent from the floor, 36.4 percent from three-point range and 75 percent at the line. She averaged a double-double with 11.5 rpg and also averaged 4.5 apg to go along with 5.5 steals per game. SU went 1-1 at the Messiah Tip-Off Tournament.
