  • Athlete of the Week - Payton Smith, Catholic
    February 20, 2017
    (Jr., G - , 04) It was a corner 3-pointer with 14 seconds left from junior Payton Smith that broke a 54-all tie and sent the Cards back to the DuFour Center with homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs. Smith finished the game with 10 points, two 3-pointers and two rebounds. She was one of three Cardinals in double-digit scoring.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Emily Martin, Elizabethtown
    February 13, 2017
    (Sr, C - Lancaster, Pa.) Elizabethtown senior Emily Martin added two more double-doubles to her season total this past week in a pair of wins for the Blue Jays. Wednesday at home against Juniata, Martin scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to go along with three steals and two blocks. She came back Saturday at Goucher to score a game-high 20 points, including 14 in the second half as E-town pulled away. Martin recorded 15 rebounds for her 14th double-double of the season. She also blocked five shots.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Camille McPherson, Moravian
    February 06, 2017
    (Sr, F - West Orange, N.J.) McPherson averaged 24.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for the Greyhounds, and she shot 16-of-29 from the floor (55.2 percent), 5-of-11 on three-pointers and 11-of-15 from free throw line to go with five assists, two steals and a blocked shot while playing 76 of 80 minutes. McPherson had 23 points and 10 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the winter in an 87-83 victory over No. 14 The University of Scranton, and McPherson added three assists, a steal and a blocked shot in the game. She then had 25 points and 14 rebounds to go with two assists and a steal in a 66-61 victory at Elizabethtown College.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Briana Bull, Goucher
    January 30, 2017
    (Jr., G/F - Baltimore, MD) Junior Briana Bull broke the 1,000 point mark last week, as she took over the 10th place in Goucher scoring history. Bull also broke the 200 assists mark (204), and 200 steals (201). Her 201 steals is tied for fifth all-time in Goucher history. For the week, Bull averaged 24 points and 12 rebounds while adding seven assists, eight steals, and one block.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Bernadette Launi, Catholic
    January 23, 2017
    (Sr., F - Rockville, Md.) With the overtime spark of senior Bernadette Launi, The Catholic University of America women's basketball team handed conference foe and nationally ranked No. 3 the University of Scranton their first regular season loss since January 17, 2015 while breaking up the Royals 50-game regular season win streak. Launi, one of four Cardinals to score double-digit points, tallied 17 in the conference showdown, going 5-of-7 from the field and 7-of-7 from the free throw line. Determined to capture the victory Launi scored six of Catholics' 13 overtime points, including four in the final 62 seconds.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Bridgette Mann, Scranton
    January 16, 2017
    (So, G - Canadensis, Pa.) Mann matched a career-high with 25 points against Susquehanna on Wednesday, as the game-high spurned the Lady Royals to a 13-point victory in a game they trailed by three at halftime. She added 12 more points at Goucher on Saturday in a game that Scranton never trailed in, marking the 13th time in 15 games that she has scored in double-figures for the year.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Melissa Errico, Catholic
    January 09, 2017
    (Sr., F - Harrington Park, N.J.) Senior Melissa Errico guided The Catholic University of America women's basketball team to a 79-54 Landmark Conference victory over Juniata College and joined the elite group of Lady Cardinals to reach 1,000 points in their career. Errico scored 21 points for the second consecutive game, bringing her career total to 1,015 points while becoming the 21st member of the Catholic University women's basketball 1,000 point club. On Monday the Cardinals defeated Oberlin, 68-41 as Errico led the way with 21 points and eight assists.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Camille McPherson, Moravian
    January 03, 2017
    (Sr, F - West Orange, N.J.) McPherson was named the Most Valuable Player of the 14th Roosevelt's 21st Greyhound Classic after averaging 25.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. She had 23 points, five boards and two assists in an 83-74 victory over Penn State Lehigh Valley, and McPherson added 28 points, seven rebounds and three assists in an 88-78 victory over Lebanon Valley College in the championship game. McPherson was 18-of-32 from the floor (56.3 percent) and 13-for-14 at the foul line (92.9 percent) during the two games.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Emily Martin, Elizabethtown
    December 19, 2016
    (Sr, C - Lancaster, Pa.) Elizabethtown senior Emily Martin did it all for the Blue Jays in a big 57-49 non-conference win over Muhlenberg Saturday afternoon. Martin finished with 24 points and 23 rebounds, her second career 20-20 game and seventh double-double of the season. She sank a career-high 12 free throws in the win and led the team in assists with five. Martin also contributed two steals and three blocked shots. She currently sits top 10 in the nation in double-doubles (7th) and defensive rebounds per game (7th), while ranking in the top 15 in of D3 in blocked shots per game (12th) and rebounds per game (14th). She also ranks 29th in the nation in scoring average.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Emily Martin, Elizabethtown
    December 12, 2016
    (Sr, C - Lancaster, Pa.) Elizabethtown senior Emily Martin produced at a high level this week in leading the Blue Jays to a 3-0 record. Martin averaged a double-double of 22.3 points and 11.3 boards. She also finished the week shooting over 50 percent and tied her single-game career-high with 26 points in a dominating performance over Stevenson. Martin's 22 and 13 against McDaniel last Tuesday and 19 and 14 at Eastern on Saturday were her fifth and sixth double-doubles of the year, which rank her in the top ten nationally. She hit a season-high 11 field goals in the win over the Mustangs.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Michelle DeSantis, Catholic
    November 28, 2016
    (Sr., G - Trumbull, Conn.) With her 11th point of the game, a free throw at the 5:14 mark of the third period, senior Michelle DeSantis sunk her 1000th career point. The Trumbull, Conn., native went on to score a team-high 23-points, lifting the Cardinals to a 66-60 victory over Coast Guard. The Cards remain undefeated at 4-0, as DeSantis also dished out a season-high seven assists and grabbed a team-high four steals. DeSantis became Catholic's 20th member of the 1000-point club and with 1,012 she currently sits at 18th for total point in program history.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Camille McPherson, Moravian
    November 21, 2016
    (Sr, F - West Orange, N.J.) McPherson averaged 23.7 points and 13.3 rebounds during the week with that included the first two double-doubles of her career. McPherson had career highs of 30 points and 19 rebounds in the win over No.16/17 Muhlenberg and she added 27 points and 12 rebounds in a 75-59 victory over Cabrini University. McPherson added 14 points and nine boards in a 96-58 win over Geneva College to finish the week. She shot 50 percent (24-of-48) from the floor, 30.8 percent (4-of-13) beyond the three-point line and 95.0 percent (19-of-20) at the foul line during the week. McPherson also had 12 assists, one steal and one blocked shot while playing 99 minutes during the week.
