2019-20 Women's Basketball Athletes of the Week Women's Athlete of the Week - Gracie Stauffer, Juniata February 24, 2020 (Jr., G - Loysville, Pa.) Juniata junior Gracie Stauffer posted back-to-back double digit games in a 1-1 week for the Eagles. She shot 67.6% (23-34) from the field and averaged 1.5 assists and 2.5 blocks. In the 80-75 win over Elizabethtown College, who secured a spot in the upcoming Landmark Women's Basketball Championship, Stauffer scored 26 points while adding 10 rebounds and three blocks. In the loss to Susquehanna University, the junior notched 31 points, 16 rebounds, and two blocks. On the week, she averaged 28.5 points and 13 rebounds. Women's Athlete of the Week - Lydia Lawson, Elizabethtown February 18, 2020 (Senior, G - Mountain Top, Pa.) Elizabethtown senior guard Lydia Lawson helped the Blue Jays to a 2-0 week this past week, averaging 16.5 points per game and 8.5 assists per game. Lawson was efficient from the field between the two games, hitting on 53.3 percent of her shots. On senior day Saturday in a pivotal matchup with Drew, she helped lead the charge with a double-double of 17 points and 11 assists to get the Jays to 8-4 in the conference with a 72-61 win. She also went 4-for-7 from three-point range and hit 13-of-16 free throws for the week. Women's Athlete of the Week - Anise Williams, Goucher February 10, 2020 (Sophomore, G - West Palm Beach, Fla.) Goucher College sophomore Anise Williams scored six points in a 17-8 run to give Goucher the lead for good and then hit four free throws in the waning seconds to help end a 50-game Landmark Conference losing streak with a 71-67 win against Juniata on Wednesday. She posted a conference career-high 28 points against the Eagles thanks to a 7-for-13 (53.8 percent) shooting performance from the floor, and connected on a career-best 13-for-15 (86.7 percent) from the free throw line. She also added nine rebounds, six steals and three assists in the squad's first league win since 2015-16. Williams posted 12 points, four steals and three assists on Saturday while averaging 20.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.0 steals and 3.0 assists per game in the week. Women's Athlete of the Week - Bridget Monaghan, Scranton February 03, 2020 (Freshman, G - Florham Park, N.J.) University of Scranton freshman Bridget Monaghan helped lead the Lady Royals to a 2-0 week including a career-high 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting (3-of-5 3PT) in a 61-48 win at Elizabethtown on Saturday. The Florham Park, N.J., native also tallied 14 points and three steals in Wednesday's 64-53 win over Drew. Monaghan shot 66.7% from the field on the week and has now scored double-digit points in four straight games. Women's Athlete of the Week - Sekya Campbell, Drew January 27, 2020 (Sophomore, F - Sicklerville, N.J.) Drew University Sekya Campbell averaged 17.0 points and 13.0 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for the Rangers. She posted a pair of double-doubles, starting with a 15-point, 12-rebound showing in a 64-49 victory over Moravian. She followed up with a career-high 19 points to go with 14 boards in a close 79-76 loss to Elizabethtown. She shot 63.2% from the floor for the week, including going 6-for-8 versus E-town. Women's Athlete of the Week - Lydia Lawson, Elizabethtown January 20, 2020 (Senior, G - Mountain Top, Pa.) Elizabethtown senior Lydia Lawson helped lead the Blue Jays to a pair of Landmark Conference victories this past week. Lawson had nine points, six assists, and three rebounds in a 65-51 win over Goucher on Wednesday. She put up her third 20-point game this season on Saturday with a game-high 24 points in a 75-65 win over Susquehanna as E-town remained as the only unbeaten in the league. Lawson added another six assists to go along with six rebounds. Women's Athlete of the Week - Veronica Christ, Elizabethtown January 13, 2020 (Junior, G - Pittstown, N.J.) Elizabethtown junior Veronica Christ led the Blue Jays to a 78-70 upset win at fifth-ranked Scranton on Saturday. Christ tied a career-high with 28 points and 11 made field goals while also hitting a career-best six treys. It was the most points Scranton has given up since Jan. 2018 and the most a player has scored against the Royals this season. She shot over 50 percent from the floor and beyond the arc for the week and averaged 20.0 points per game. Women's Athlete of the Week - Erin Frederick, Drew January 06, 2020 (Junior, C - Staten Island, N.Y.) Drew junior Erin Frederick averaged 17.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game over a 3-1 stretch for the Rangers. She was named MVP of the Lehman College Coaches vs. Cancer Classic after posting a pair of double-doubles while leading Drew to the title. She started the tournament with 24 points and 10 rebounds in an 85-59 win over Clark, then registered 19 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals in a 77-55 victory over St. Joseph's-Long Island in the championship game. Her performances earned her a spot on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week. She also notched 12 points and six rebounds in a 75-69 loss to St. Joseph's-Brooklyn and 14 points in an 80-59 victory over FDU-Florham. Frederick shot 52.6% from the floor over the four games. Women's Athlete of the Week - Emily Sheehan, Scranton December 23, 2019 (Senior, G - Dunmore, Pa.) Scranton senior Emily Sheehan was named MVP of the Poinsettia Classic after averaging 14.5 points per game in the two games of the tournament and scored a game-high 18 points in a 95-43 win over Elmira on Wednesday. The Dunmore, Pa., native also added a career-high five steals in a 75-57 win over Misericordia on Thursday. Women's Athlete of the Week - Amalia Esposito, Susquehanna December 16, 2019 (Sophomore, G, - Coraopolis, Pa.) Susquehanna sophomore Amalia Esposito averaged a double-double in a 1-1 week for the River Hawks. She started the week with career-highs of 25 points and 14 rebounds in a non-conference loss to Dickinson as she was 13-of-20 from the free throw line. Esposito then tallied 20 points and 11 boards plus a career-best five assists in a dominant road win over Marywood as she shot nearly 63% from the field. Women's Athlete of the Week - Veronica Christ, Elizabethtown December 09, 2019 (Junior, G - Pittstown, N.J.) Elizabethtown junior Veronica Christ poured in a career-high 28 points for the Blue Jays in a 72-60 win over Moravian on Saturday to start off Landmark Conference play on the right foot. Christ knocked down a career-best 11 field goals and was 11-for-17 in the game. She also corralled 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. She recorded 17 points against King's (Pa.) this past Wednesday. Christ shot nearly 50 percent for the week and hit 7 of 15 three-point attempts while averaging 22.5 ppg. Women's Athlete of the Week - Sydney Poindexter, Catholic December 02, 2019 (Senior, F - Clarksville, Md.) Catholic senior Sydney Poindexter totaled 20 points and 12 rebounds as the Cardinals led for all but 2:30 en route to a 72-65 road win over Haverford. She also added two assists, two steals, and three blocks. The Fords, who entered the game receiving votes in the latest d3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, lost for just the eighth time in their last 38 games at home dating back to the 2016-17 season. The defending Centennial Conference champions entered the game ranked fourth in Division III, allowing opponents a mere 41.4 points per game. Women's Athlete of the Week - Nadine Ewald, Moravian November 25, 2019 (Sr., C - Allentown, Pa.) Moravian senior Nadine Ewald averaged 21.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for the Greyhounds in non-conference action. Ewald was 19-for-30 from the floor (63.3 percent) and 5-for-10 at the foul line during the week, and she also had four assists, two steals and a pair of blocked shots. Ewald had 16 points and 13 rebounds in a 68-54 win versus TCNJ. She then had 27 points and 13 boards for her fourth straight and 26th career double-double in a 97-83 victory at Gwynedd Mercy to go along with three assists and a pair of steals. Women's Athlete of the Week - Veronica Christ, Elizabethtown November 18, 2019 (Junior, G - Pittstown, N.J.) Elizabethtown junior guard Veronica Christ averaged 20.7 ppg for the Blue Jays in three games this past week. Christ posted a team-high 23 points at Lebanon Valley last Wednesday as E-town beat the Dutchmen 54-46. She recorded her second consecutive 20-point game and added 10 rebounds on Saturday against William Smith in a close loss to the Herons in the opening game of the F&M Tournament. Christ had a second straight double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds in Sunday's consolation game win over the host Diplomats. Christ shot nearly 45 percent from the floor, 35 percent from three-point range, and hit on 82 percent of her foul shots (9-for-11). Women's Athlete of the Week - Maddie Capuano, Moravian November 11, 2019 (Senior, G - Bethlehem, Pa.) Senior Maddie Capuano helped Moravian begin the 2019-20 season with a 73-58 win at Dickinson College. Capuano netted a game-high 24 points to go with six rebounds, two assists and a steal in the win. She was 8-for-20 from the floor, 2-for-6 beyond the three-point line and 6-for-8 at the charity stripe.
