2014-15 Women's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week Offensive Athlete of the Week - Rita Meissner, Goucher April 27, 2015 (Sr., A, Yonkers, N.Y.) Meissner scored a game-high four goals, including three in the second half, to help Goucher edge Drew 12-10 on Saturday and clinch its first playoff berth since 2011. The last of those four goals was the 100th point of her collegiate career, Meissner also played a key role in helping the Gophers keep the ball away from the Rangers' high-scoring offense, winning a career-high six draws and leading the team with three ground balls. She ranks second on the team and seventh in the Landmark with 34 goals overall this season. Defensive Athlete of the Week - Alexis Martin, Catholic April 27, 2015 (Jr., D, Haddonfield, N.J.) Martin led the Cardinals with six ground balls in Saturday's 17-6 victory over Scranton, a win which clinched the top seed in the playoffs for Catholic. She added a caused turnover, and was solid throughout the game in transition as the Cardinals finished 14 of 18 on clearing attempts. The six goals was the lowest total put up by the Royals in any Landmark game this season. Offensive Athlete of the Week - Nikki Kleiman, Drew April 20, 2015 (Sr., M/A, Cranford, N.J.) Kleiman repeats as offensive AOTW after helping the Rangers to a 2-0 week. Included in those two wins was a 15-12 win over Scranton which helped Drew's playoff standing going into the final weekend. Kleiman had a game-high five goals in that contest while also adding an assist. She split her duties between scoring and dishing with three goals and three assists in a tight 13-12 win at St. Joseph's (L.I.) College on Sunday. Kleiman currently leads the Landmark in both goals (46) and points (72). This is the fifth time in her career that she has received AOTW recognition. Defensive Athlete of the Week - Kailyn Angelo, Scranton April 20, 2015 (Fr., M, West Chester, Pa.) Angelo took tremendous pressure off the Royal defensive unit in her last two games by winning 23 draw controls, including 12 in Saturday's 19-7 victory over Elizabethtown which clinched a playoff spot for Scranton. Earlier in the week, she won 11 draws in Scranton's 15-12 loss at Drew. For the season, Angelo's 79 draws won ranks her tied for first in the Landmark. Offensive Athlete of the Week - Nikki Kleiman, Drew April 13, 2015 (Sr., M/A, Cranford, N.J.) Kleiman celebrated Senior Day with a nine-point performance in Drew's 21-6 win over Elizabethtown. She totaled five goals and four assists, while also registering six draw controls. Earlier in the week, Kleiman had five goals and an assist in the Rangers' tight 13-11 setback to FDU-Florham. All 13 of Kleiman's shots were on target last week, with 10 of them finding the back of the net. The 15-point week gives her 60 for the season, a total which ranks her first in the Landmark. Defensive Athlete of the Week - Kat Carnevale, Goucher April 13, 2015 (Jr., D, Portland, Ore.) Carnevale registered four ground balls and three caused turnovers in each of Goucher's non-conference victories last week. The Gophers defeated Notre Dame (Md.) 17-3 on Tuesday and Southwestern (Texas) 13-7 on Friday. The Tuesday triumph clinched the program's first winning season since 2006. Carnevale ranks tied for second in the Landmark this spring with 25 caused turnovers. Offensive Athlete of the Week - Emily Goss, Scranton April 06, 2015 (Sr., M, Morristown, N.J.) Goss repeats as the Landmark AOTW after following up a career-high and Landmark Conference single-game tying eight-goal performance against Goucher by scoring five goals in the Royals' dramatic 14-12 victory in overtime against Susquehanna last Thursday. Goss scored twice in the final 12 minutes of regulation to help the Royals overcome a 10-7 deficit and post their first win over the Crusaders since 2011. Along the way, she moved into seventh place on the Royals' all-time scoring list with 168 total points (157 goals, 11 assists). Defensive Athlete of the Week - Tricia Pehnke, Catholic April 06, 2015 (Sr., GK, West Windsor, N.J.) Pehnke repeats as Landmark AOTW after allowing only five goals in Catholic's 12-5 victory over No. 15 York (Pa.). She made 12 saves and did not allow a goal over the final 25 minutes of play for the No. 16 Cardinals in a battle of nationally-ranked teams. Pehnke also caused two turnovers and picked up a game-high seven ground balls. She improved her season record to 8-2, and is currently ranked second in the Landmark in both saves (84) and goals-against average (9.55). Offensive Athlete of the Week - Emily Goss, Scranton March 30, 2015 (Sr., M, Morristown, N.J.) Goss scored a career-high eight goals as the Royals snapped a three-game losing streak with an 18-9 victory over Goucher in their Landmark Conference opener Saturday afternoon in Towson, Maryland. Goss' previous career-high was a seven-goal effort against the Gophers in 2013. Her eight-goal effort is tied for the third-most in a game in Scranton history, and it is also tied for the most in a game between Landmark opponents. In addition, Goss moved into eighth place on the Royals' all-time scoring list with 163 total points (152 goals, 11 assists). Defensive Athlete of the Week - Tricia Pehnke, Catholic March 30, 2015 (Sr., GK, West Windsor, N.J.) Pehnke totaled 25 saves across Catholic's three games last week. She made eight stops while allowing only six goals in a 15-6 win over St. Mary's (Md.) on Tuesday while also leading the team with three caused turnovers. Pehnke added eight more saves in a tight one-goal defeat to nationally-ranked Williams on Thursday, and she concluded her week with nine stops in a 21-10 conference win over Drew. Pehnke held the Rangers to a 2 of 6 conversion rate on free position attempts, and she had a team-high four ground balls. She leads the Landmark with a 10.09 GAA for the season. Offensive Athlete of the Week - Jojo Franklin, Goucher March 23, 2015 (Fr., M, Denver, Colo.) Franklin had a season-high six points in Goucher's 17-4 win at Merchant Marine to open up Landmark play on Saturday. She had three goals and three assists, while also totaling four ground balls and a team-high seven draw controls. Earlier in the week, Franklin had three goals in the Gophers' 12-7 victory over Meredith. She now has multiple goals in seven straight games, with Goucher going 6-1 during that stretch. This is the second time this season that Franklin has received AOTW recognition. Defensive Athlete of the Week - Emily Gill, Goucher March 23, 2015 (Sr., GK, White Hall, Md.) Gill made 11 saves with a .611 save percentage in Goucher's 12-7 win at Meredith on Wednesday. Those were the most stops she has registered in a Gopher victory in her two seasons as the starting goalkeeper, and it is her second-highest save total this year. Gill then played the first half of Goucher's 17-4 win at Merchant Marine on Saturday, making one save to improve her season record to 7-2. Offensive Athlete of the Week - Morgan Mason, Drew March 16, 2015 (So., M, Cranford, N.J.) Mason led the Ranger offense in season-opening victories over Penn St. Abington and Bridgewater (Va.) in Hilton Head Island, S.C., last week. She tallied six points in each of Drew's wins, netting three goals and passing out three assists in a 17-2 defeat of Abington, and scoring two and dishing out a game-high four assists in a tight 12-9 victory over Bridgewater. Mason also controlled four draws, picked up a ground ball, and caused two turnovers during the Rangers' perfect start to the 2015 season. Defensive Athlete of the Week - Gianna Minogue, Drew March 16, 2015 (So., GK, Sayville, N.Y.) Minogue played all 120 minutes in goal during Drew's victories over Penn St. Abington and Bridgewater (Va.) in Hilton Head Island, S.C., last week. She stopped six shots in the Rangers' 17-2 season-opening win over Penn St. Abington and added 16 more saves during a 12-9 victory over Bridgewater. For the week, Minogue had a 5.50 goals-against average and a .666 save percentage. Offensive Athlete of the Week - Jojo Franklin, Goucher March 09, 2015 (Fr., M, Denver, Colo.) Franklin had a team-high seven draw controls to help Goucher rally from a late 6-3 first half deficit in its eventual 13-7 win over Misericordia on Tuesday. The Gophers won 17 of 20 draws overall, and that possession played a key factor in the comeback. She once again led the team with six draw controls during Goucher's 16-4 win victory over Sweet Briar on Saturday. Franklin added four goals and an assist over the two games. At 4-1, Goucher is off to its best start since the 2001 squad started 5-0. Defensive Athlete of the Week - Carolyn Figliola, Susquehanna March 09, 2015 (Jr., GK, Weston, Conn.) Figliola began her season with an impressive 22 saves in Susquehanna's 6-5 win at Colorado College last Monday. She added 15 more stops in an overtime defeat to Augustana (Ill.) on Thursday. Through the season's first two games, Figliola made 37 saves with a 9.50 goals-against average and a .649 save percentage. Offensive Athlete of the Week - Anna Stumme, Catholic March 02, 2015 (So., M, Millersville, Md.) Stumme had a team-high four goals in Catholic's 13-12 upset victory over No. 1 Salisbury on Saturday. She scored her first marker with 1:08 left in the first half and added three more after the intermission. The last of those three strikes gave the Cardinals a 12-11 advantage with 5:04 remaining. Stumme's four goals tied a single-game career high. Defensive Athlete of the Week - Michelle Fuller, Elizabethtown March 02, 2015 (Fr., GK, Columbia, Md.) Making her first collegiate start in goal, Fuller shutout Hood over her 45:35 minutes of play. She made five saves overall, including two on free-position attempts, as the Blue Jays opened their season with a 15-4 victory last Wednesday. Offensive Athlete of the Week - Sophie Smith, Goucher February 23, 2015 (Fr., A/M, Lawrenceville, N.J.) Smith racked up three goals and two assists in her collegiate debut, helping Goucher to a 13-2 victory over Wesley on Saturday. All five points came during an 11-0 Gopher run over the first 25 minutes of the first half. Smith also had a team-high three ground balls before the contest was stopped 11 minutes early due to snowy conditions. Defensive Athlete of the Week - None February 23, 2015
