2016-17 Women's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week Women's Offensive Athlete of the Week - Morgan Mason, Drew April 24, 2017 (Sr, M - Cranford, N.J.) Senior midfielder Morgan Mason totaled 10 points during a 2-0 week in Landmark Conference play for the Rangers, who will be faced with a win-and-in game at Susquehanna this Saturday to make the 2017 Landmark Conference Championship. Mason stuffed the stat sheet in the pair of wins, scoring five times in the tight 13-12 win over Scranton on Wednesday, then getting three goals and two assists on a Senior Day 15-4 victory against Goucher on Saturday. For the week, she added six groundballs, five caused turnovers and four draw controls. Women's Defensive Athlete of the Week - Gianna Minogue, Drew May 01, 2017 (Sr, GK - Sayville, N.Y.) Senior goalkeeper Gianna Minogue was one of the difference makers in the Rangers' 12-11 win at Susquehanna to clinch a berth in the Landmark Conference Championship. Susquehanna significantly outshot the Rangers 38-25, making each of her 12 saves monumental as Drew erased a three-goal deficit over the final 10 minutes. The River Hawks were 0-for-6 facing Minogue in free position shots. The Ranger keeper added four groundballs in the win and finishes the regular season ranked second in the Landmark with a .476 save percentage. Women's Defensive Athlete of the Week - Nanci Hernandez, Catholic April 24, 2017 (Fr., G - , 88) Catholic goalie Nanci Hernandez captured two Landmark Conference wins this week. The rookie helped the cards to a 22-4 win over Goucher and 18-4 victory over Moravian. Hernandez played 82 minutes against the conference opponents and gave up two just goals apiece while making nine total saves including eight against the Greyhounds. Women's Offensive Athlete of the Week - Jessica Lyons, Catholic April 17, 2017 (So., M) Sophomore Jessica Lyons of No. 17 The Catholic University of America women's lacrosse team had the moment of her career when she sent the ball in the back of the cage for a sudden victory, 8-7 overtime win over No. 4 Franklin & Marshall on Thursday. Lyons scored two goals throughout the contest. She scooped up four ground ball, won one draw control and caused three turnovers to life Catholic to the overtime victory. Women's Defensive Athlete of the Week - Libby Dex, Susquehanna April 17, 2017 (Fr., G - Coopersburg, Pa.) Dex helped the River Hawks to a 19-3 victory over Goucher on April 15. Dex faced 10 shots on goal, making seven saves and allowed just three goals over 60 minutes. Women's Offensive Athlete of the Week - Nicolette Crisalli, Catholic April 10, 2017 (Jr., A, Silver Spring, Md.) Catholic junior Nicolette Crisalli tallied 14 points for the Cardinals this week. In their 22-10 conference victory over Susquehanna, Crisalli notched seven goals and three assists. Women's Defensive Athlete of the Week - Jacqueline LaCava, Moravian April 10, 2017 LaCava helped the Greyhounds to a 1-1 record last week with seven ground balls and five caused turnovers including four ground balls and three caused turnovers in a loss at The University of Scranton in Landmark Conference action. Women's Offensive Athlete of the Week - Carly Thompson, Elizabethtown April 03, 2017 (Jr, A - Havre de Grace, Md.) Elizabethtown junior Carly Thompson hit 100 points for her career this past week and put up 18 points in 3 games for the Blue Jays. She provided a third of the Jays' goal total in Monday's 18-8 win over Alvernia, in which she hit the 100-point mark. Thompson recorded three goals in Wednesday's 16-5 victory over Eastern and also added an assist. She scored five goals on six shots Saturday to help E-town remain unbeaten in Landmark Conference play with a 17-1 win over Goucher. Thompson totaled 14 goals and 4 assists over the three-game week. Women's Defensive Athlete of the Week - Allison McLamb, Elizabethtown April 03, 2017 (Sr, M - Ellicott City, Md.) Elizabethtown senior Allison McLamb was around the ball a ton this past week as E-town went 3-0. McLamb finished the week with 22 ground balls, 12 draw controls, and 14 caused turnovers. Women's Offensive Athlete of the Week - Jillian Picciuto, Moravian March 27, 2017 (So, F - Long Valley, N.J.) Picciuto led the Greyhounds in scoring in a 2-0 week with 21 points on 13 goals and eight assists. She added seven ground balls, 12 draw controls and three caused turnovers during the week as Moravian outscored its opponents 40-7. Picciuto had five goals and four assists in a 21-2 win over Gwynedd Mercy University, and then she broke the school record with 12 points on eight goals and four assists in a 19-5 victory over DeSales University. Women's Defensive Athlete of the Week - Becca Russo, Scranton March 27, 2017 (Fr., M - South Windsor, Conn.) Freshman Becca Russo had a match-high seven ground balls in the win over Marywood on Thursday, helping Scranton pull away in a 14-7 win at home. She had three draw controls and three ground balls in Scranton's dominating 20-2 win at Goucher, as the Royals outshot the Gophers 36-10, along with having a 24-5 ground ball advantage in the contest. Women's Offensive Athlete of the Week - Meghan Kerr, Scranton March 20, 2017 (Sr., A - Warwick, N.Y.) Kerr was dominant on the offensive end in a pair of matches played over the week in North Carolina, pouring in four goals in matches at Guilford and Meredith. She also added four assists in the Guilford victory and two more in the tough loss to Meredith. Women's Defensive Athlete of the Week - Abby Kopytko, Elizabethtown March 20, 2017 (So, G - Newtown, Pa.) Elizabethtown goalie Abby Koptyko stood tall in goal for the Blue Jays in a 15-4 win over Widener on Saturday. Kopytko made a season-high 8 saves for E-town, including six in the second half and four on free position attempts in the final 30 minutes. Kopytko's play stifled any sort of momentum Widener tried to build while her offense provided her with 15 goals in the win. Women's Offensive Athlete of the Week - Morgan Mason, Drew March 13, 2017 (Sr, MF - Cranford, N.J.) Senior midfielder Morgan Mason led Drew with seven points during a 2-0 week on spring break in Clermont, Fla. She scored twice and assisted on three in the 12-10 win over Johnson & Wales, then netted two in the 14-7 victory against Mount Ida. For the week, Mason totaled four groundballs, seven draw controls and two caused turnovers. Women's Defensive Athlete of the Week - Kayla Purdy, Catholic March 13, 2017 (So., D - East Setauket, N.Y.) Kayla Purdy's defensive efforts on The Catholic University of America women's lacrosse gave the Cardinals the opportunity to capture their third straight game. Catholic's dynamic offense had 12 different goal scorers in its 19-10 victory over Christopher Newport and the Cardinal defense stepped up to hold off the Captains. Purdy went one-on-one with CNU's leading goal scorer Sarah Culver. Prior to the game, Culver had tallied 17 goals over five games. Head-to-head with Purdy, Culver scored zero goals against the Cardinals and was only able to get off one shot. Along with holding off the Captains leading goal scorer, Purdy recorded one caused turnover and five groundballs. Women's Offensive Athlete of the Week - Laura Dunn, Catholic March 06, 2017 (Sr., A) Laura Dunn notched four goals and tallied four assist in the Cardinals 15-11 victory over the nationally ranked Seahawks. The senior had assists on the opening two goals of the Friday night showdown between No. 6 Catholic and No. 19 St. Mary's (Md.). With 11 minutes to play Dunn brought the Cards up, 11-10 with a man-up goal. She capped the game off with the final goal of the contest with 56 seconds to go in the game. Women's Defensive Athlete of the Week - Gianna Minogue, Drew March 06, 2017 (Sr, GK - Sayville, N.Y.) Senior goalkeeper Gianna Minogue made 18 saves in a pair of victories for the Rangers, including a 16-save performance in the tight 15-13 win over Vassar. She posted a 10.0 goals-against average and registered a .545 save percentage during the week to move into fourth place in the category in the Landmark. She also fielded her position well, cleaning up seven groundballs and causing two turnovers from her crease. Women's Offensive Athlete of the Week - Anna Stumme, Catholic February 27, 2017 (Sr., M - Millersville, Md.) Senior Anna Stumme of No. 11 The Catholic University of America women's lacrosse team lifted the Cardinals over nationally ranked No. 5 Salisbury University. Stumme scored three goals in Catholic's 9-8 victory including on on a free position opportunity. She came up big when the Cardinals needed her to tying the game twice, first at four goals a piece then at six. With under six minutes to play Stumme notched the game-winning goal over the No. 5 Seagulls. Women's Defensive Athlete of the Week - Allison McLamb, Elizabethtown February 27, 2017 (Sr, M - Ellicott City, Md.) Elizabethtown senior mid Allie McLamb was a nuisance in Thursday's season-opening 19-9 win at Immaculata. McLamb recorded three ground balls and caused three turnovers, while also grabbed a pair of draw controls.
