  • Athlete of the Week - Heather Waring, Juniata
    April 27, 2015
    (Sr., San Antonio, Texas) Waring set a new Landmark record with her 48th career doubles victory in Juniata's 9-0 win over Stevenson last week. Paired with Rachel Yurchisin at No. 1 doubles, the duo cruised to an 8-0 victory. Waring also topped Svetlana Widell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. The Eagles will take a 12-5 record into Wednesday's semifinal matchup at Scranton.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Christine Evangelista, Elizabethtown
    April 20, 2015
    (Sr., Harrisburg, Pa.) Evangelista won all three of her No. 1 singles matches last week, and was 2-1 at No. 1 doubles, as the Blue Jays completed a 3-0 week to secure the top seed in the Landmark playoffs. Evangelista picked up a pair of wins in a 9-0 sweep of Goucher on Wednesday. Friday at Scranton, in a showdown for first place in the conference, Evangelista fell in doubles, but recovered to post a comeback 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory over Emily Walsh at No. 1 singles that put E-Town up 4-1 at the time (the Blue Jays would go on to win 5-4). Saturday against Drew, she cruised to an 8-1 win at first doubles with partner Kaitlyn Pellegrino and defeated Deanna Williams 6-1, 6-2 at first singles. The Drew win locked up the top seed for the Jays with one league match remaining. Evangelista ranks fifth in school history in career singles victories, sixth in doubles victories and fourth in career combined victories (115).
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Emily Walsh, Scranton

    (Jr., Scranton, Pa.) Walsh had a perfect week from the top of the lineup as Scranton won three Landmark matches to remain unbeaten in conference play and clinch a playoff appearance. She rallied for a three-set victory in her singles match on Monday against Catholic after teaming with Julia Frattaroli for a 9-7 doubles win. Then she cruised to singles and doubles victories in both matches as the Royals won twice on the road against Moravian and Drew over the weekend. Walsh is 10-6 in singles this season, including a 5-0 mark in Landmark matchups.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Megan Azzalina, Scranton
    April 06, 2015
    (Sr., Easton, Pa.) Azzalina set a school record with her 40th career doubles victory as she teamed with fellow senior Nicole Mahaffey for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles in a win over Susquehanna on Thursday. Her win at No. 2 singles was also the 40th of her career, tied for fourth-most in school history. So far this season, Azzalina is 8-4 in singles play and 7-2 in doubles play. The Royals are 6-2 overall, with a 2-0 mark in Landmark matches.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Kaitlyn Pellegrino, Elizabethtown
    March 30, 2015
    (Sr., Williamsport, Pa.) Pellegrino became the 10th player in program history to win 100 career matches in Sunday's 7-2 victory over Moravian. She went 3-1 this past week with wins in both doubles matches to reach the century mark. Pellegrino and regular No. 1 partner Christine Evangelista rallied from an 8-7 deficit Sunday against Moravian's Brittney Eady and Roberta Scantlebury, forcing a tiebreaker and winning it 7-3 for Pellegrino's milestone win. She is 58-31 in doubles during her career and 42-27 in singles. Pellegrino ranks tied for fifth in career doubles victories at Elizabethtown.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Tori Gray, Juniata
    March 23, 2015
    (Jr., York, Pa.) Gray was a part of two critical wins for the Eagles against Catholic on Saturday. Playing in her first matches of the season, she paired with Mitsuki Koh at second doubles. The match went to a deciding super tiebreaker before Gray and Koh emerged with a 9-8 win. With the overall team score tied at 4-4, Gray was the deciding match at No. 5 singles. She defeated Maria Flores 7-5, 6-2 to give Juniata a one point victory.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Rachel Yurchisin, Juniata
    March 16, 2015
    (So., Cleveland, Ohio) Yurchisin went 3-2 in both singles and doubles during Juniata's spring break trip in Hilton Head Island, S.C., last week. She had straight-set wins over Baldwin Wallace and Nazareth at the No. 2 singles spot, and moved up to No. 1 during a 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-5) comeback triumph over Olivet. Yurchisin teamed with Heather Waring for doubles victories over Nazareth, Olivet and Stockton. The Eagles completed their trip with a 3-2 team record.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Sophia Osbourne, Moravian
    March 09, 2015
    (Sr., Springfield, N.J.) Osbourne won each of her matches to help Moravian begin its spring season with a tight 5-4 victory over Howard Payne in Orlando on Sunday. She teamed with Skylar Oliwa for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles to stake the Greyhounds to a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play. Osbourne then topped Chesney Goza 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles as Moravian moved to 3-0 overall in 2014-15.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Samantha Hendricks, Juniata
    February 23, 2015
    (So., McVeytown, Pa.) Hendricks went 3-1 for the Eagles during a pair of team matches over the weekend. She picked up Juniata's only victory against Salisbury with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph from the No. 6 singles position on Friday. Hendricks picked up another singles win against Bridgewater (Va.) the following afternoon, defeating Leanne Smithers 6-4, 6-4, and she teamed with Mitsuki Koh at No. 3 doubles for an 8-4 decision. Juniata went on win the match by a 6-3 final score.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Claire Smyth, Susquehanna
    October 13, 2014
    (Sr., Lewisburg, Pa.) Smyth wrapped up the fall season with wins against Penn College on Saturday. She picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles and teamed up with Alyssa Fleischman to win 8-1 at No. 1 doubles. The Crusaders defeated Penn 9-0 to move to 6-0 this season.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Brittney Eady, Moravian
    October 06, 2014
    (So., Jamaica, N.Y.) Eady helped the Greyhounds to their second dual match win of the season as Moravian swept Arcadia, 9-0. Eady had a 6-1, 6-2 at first singles, and she teamed with junior Brijelle Hudock for an 8-1 at first doubles.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Shelby O'Riley, Susquehanna
    September 29, 2014
    (Sr., Ware, Mass.) O’Riley led Susquehanna to two dual wins this week against Lycoming and Hood. She gave up just two games at No. 1 singles and one game with partner Brielle Ferlauto at No. 1 doubles to finish 4-0 this week. The Crusaders improve to 4-0 this season.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Courtnie Lambert, Moravian
    September 22, 2014
    (Jr., Hellertown, Pa.) of the team's top performances at the USTA-ITA Southeast Regional. Lambert was 3-1 in singles action during the week and 2-2 in doubles action with freshman Caitlin Adams. Lambert reached the semifinals of the Blue 4 Singles bracket at the USTA-ITA regional.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Emily Walsh, Scranton

    (Jr., Scranton, Pa.) Walsh picked up her 25th career victory in dramatic fashion in the Royals' 5-4 victory over defending 7-time champion Wilkes University Sunday afternoon at the Royal Courts. After losing the first set and trailing 4-1 in the second, Walsh won 11 of the final 12 games to defeat her high school teammate, Kendra Croker of Wilkes. Scranton's win on Sunday was its first over Wilkes since 2005.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Deanna Williams, Drew
    September 08, 2014
    (Sr., Fairfield, Calif.) Senior Deanna Williams took care of business at first singles and doubles in the Rangers' 2014-15 opener on Sunday afternoon. A perfect win at No. 1 singles and an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles with Katie Marshall helped Drew win its season opener for the first time since 2009.
