2015-16 Women's Tennis Athletes of the Week

 
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Lauren Berry (Elizabethtown)
    May 02, 2016
    (Sr., - Dillsburg, Pa.) Elizabethtown senior Lauren Berry won twice Saturday as the Blue Jays defeated Scranton, 6-3, in a matchup of the league's only unbeaten teams and captured the top seed in the upcoming Landmark Conference Championships. Berry and second doubles partner Sam Procak blanked the Royals' Emily Machado and Emilia Jakubek 8-0 for their 10th win of the season. The tandem improved to 10-1 and have won nine in a row dating back to April 2.
     
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Emily Walsh (Scranton)

    (Sr., - Scranton, Pa.) Walsh tied the all-time singles victories record for the University of Scranton women's tennis team with her three-set win against Moravian on Sunday (47). She has now won five straight matches at number one singles (is 12-6 on the year) and is 10-4 in doubles with Frattaroli, also winning five straight.
     
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Julia Frattaroli (Scranton)

    (So., - Newtown, Conn.) Led Scranton to a pair of victories on the road in Landmark play this weekend, as the Royals remained unbeaten on the year at 3-0 in Conference play. She posted a pair of straight set victories in singles action, as win in number two position at Catholic clinched victory for Royals. In 9-4 in singles action on the season in dual matches (3-0 in Landmark matches) and 8-4 at number one doubles with partner Emily Walsh.
     
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Caitlin Adams (Moravian)
    April 04, 2016
    (Sophomore, - Pine Beach, N.J.) Adams had a perfect week as Moravian won a pair of Landmark Conference matches. She won both of her third doubles matches with senior Courtnie Lambert, and Adams added two wins at fourth singles. Her win against Drew on Wednesday snapped a 4-4 tie and gave the Greyhounds a 5-4 victory with the final point of the match.
     
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Linsey Sipple (Susquehanna)
    March 28, 2016
    (So., - Erie, Pa.) Susquehanna sophomore Linsey Sipple helped SU to a 5-4 victory against Goucher last week in their conference opener. The sophomore won 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 2 singles spot and paired with Eliza Griffin at No. 2 doubles to win 8-2.
     
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Brittney Eady (Moravian)

    (Junior, - Jamaica, N.Y.) Eady had a 5-1 week for the Greyhounds, who posted a 2-1 mark during their Spring Break trip to Orlando. Eady was 3-0 for the week at first singles for the Greyhounds, winning all three matches in straight sets. Eady was 2-1 at first doubles for the week, winning one match with sophomore Skylar Oliwa and going 1-1 with junior Roberta Scantlebury.
     
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Jessica Cheng (Drew)

    (Jr., - Edison, N.J.) Junior Jessica Cheng led the Rangers to a convincing 8-1 victory over previously undefeated and cross-street rival FDU-Florham. She combined on a perfect 8-0 win at first doubles, before helping Drew sweep singles play with a near-perfect straight set triumph (6-0, 6-1) at the No. 3 singles position.
     
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Brittney Eady (Moravian)

    (Junior, - Jamaica, N.Y.) Eady helped the Greyhounds finish the fall portion of their 2015-16 season with a 2-0 record after Moravian defeated NCAA Division II East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, 7-1, last Thursday. Eady earned an 8-5 win at 1st singles with junior Aisling Doyle to give the Hounds a 2-1 lead after doubles action. She then picked up the winning fifth team point as she walked off the court with a 6-0, 6-3 win at first singles.
     
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Alice Goldstein-Plesser (Goucher)

    (Jr., - Durham, N.C.) Junior Alice Goldstein-Plesser won at No. 1 singles. She posted a 6-3, 6-2 win over Nandita Munindra. Goldstein-Plesser helped the No. 1 doubles to an 8-3 win over Munindra.
     
  • Women's Athlete of the Week - Emily Walsh (Scranton)

    (Sr., - Scranton, Pa.) Walsh won four straight matches after dropping her opening match to reach Monday's consolation final at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships at Willam & Smith College. She went 1-1 on Saturday, then posted three wins on Sunday to stay alive. In addition to the results listed above, she beat Emily Wyman of St. Lawrence, 8-3, in the consolation quarterfinals, and Maria Salmon of RPI, 8-6, in the consolation semifinals.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Julia Frattaroli (Scranton)

    (So., - Newtown, Conn.) Frattaroli was impressive, going 6-0 between singles in doubles as the Royals posted three wins to stay unbeaten this fall. She dropped just eight games in three singles matches, five of them coming in the same match. And she helped the Royals' no. 1 doubles team post a trio of victories in nearly as impressive fashion, including a pair of 8-2 wins.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Emily Machado (Scranton)
    September 14, 2015
    (Junior, - Fishkill, N.Y.) Machado didn't lose a single game in singles or doubles to help lead the Royals to a road victory on Sunday. She teamed with freshman Anika Pornpitaksuk for an 8-0 win at no. 2 doubles while the no. 1 team was losing. She then went out and whitewashed her opponent, 6-0, 6-0, at no. 4 singles to lead the charge.All-Tournament Team Saturday after helping Elizabethtown win the team title with a perfect 4-0 record. Moran had seven kills, nine digs and two blocks in a four-set loss to a strong Haverford team last Wednesday. Friday she hit .240 on 50 attempts against Allegheny, supplementing her 18 kills with 12 digs for a double-double. She would go for seven kills later that evening in a 3-0 sweep of Lycoming and add nine Saturday morning against Pitt-Bradford, before sitting out the team's 3-0 win over Penn College in the tournament finale
