2021-22 Women's Tennis Athletes of the Week Women's Athlete of the Week - Maddie Figiel, Moravian April 19, 2022 Junior Maddie Figiel helped Moravian to a 6-3 Landmark Conference win over Elizabethtown in the Greyhounds' only match of the week. Figiel earned a win at second doubles (8-2) with junior Cristina Merone before winning in straight sets at third singles (6-2, 6-0). Women's Athlete of the Week - Anais Dhillon, Goucher April 12, 2022 Goucher College senior Anais Dhillon finished a combined 6-0 in singles and doubles play in three matches for the Gophers. She posted singles and doubles wins in a 5-4 win over defending conference champion Moravian University to move Goucher to 3-0 in the Landmark for the first time since 2012-13. Women's Athlete of the Week - Melina Christodoulou, Drew April 05, 2022 Christodoulou won at both No. 1 singles and doubles to help power the Rangers to a 7-2 victory over two-time defending Landmark Conference champion Moravian. She teamed with Mary Kalorin for an 8-2 doubles win, then won in straight sets in singles after capturing the opening set on a tiebreaker. Drew handed the Greyhounds their first conference loss since 2018. Women's Athlete of the Week - Kailey Caroland, Elizabethtown March 29, 2022 Senior Kailey Caroland started her Landmark Conference season with two victories in Elizabethtown's league opener against Drew. The Ellicott City, Md. native paced Etown on Saturday, starting with a thrilling 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 win at #1 singles against Melina Christodoulou. Caroland then teamed up with freshman Gabriella Palladini to win at #1 doubles against Christodoulou and Mary Kalorin 8-4. The senior remains undefeated on the season at #1 singles and doubles for the Blue Jays. Women's Athlete of the Week - Julianne Cassady, Moravian March 22, 2022 Junior Julianne Cassady helped Moravian to its seventh straight win as the squad defeated Penn State-Abington, 6-0, in a match played indoors in Timothy Breidegam Fieldhouse and to decision. Cassady joined with senior Morgan Colver for a win at first doubles (8-0) before capturing a straight-sets victory at first singles (6-0, 6-0). Women's Athlete of the Week - Brooke Simonson, Catholic March 15, 2022 Simonson led Catholic to a 2-1 record at the Spring Tennis Fest in Hilton Head, S.C. The senior went 3-0 at No. 1 Singles, dropping only one set, and 2-1 at No. 1 Doubles for a total record of 5-1 in matches she was involved in. Her two wins in the matches against Albion and St. John Fisher were vital to the securing of the team victory. Women's Athlete of the Week - Mayjah Jean Pierre, Scranton March 08, 2022 Jean-Pierre helped lead the Royals to a 5-4 win over Division II Kutztown with victories in both her singles and doubles matches including a clean sweep of the Golden Bears at No. 2 doubles. She won her singles match, 6-2,6-3, and her doubles match 8-0. Women's Athlete of the Week - Kailey Caroland, Elizabethtown October 12, 2021 Senior Kailey Caroland got off to a hot start to the 2021 season with a perfect weekend, leading the Elizabethtown College women's tennis team to wins over Lycoming (7-2) and Penn College (9-0). The Ellicott City, Md. native dropped a total of four sets across two matches at #1 singles and teamed up with freshman Gabriella Palladini for two victories at #1 doubles. Women's Athlete of the Week - Kristen Lucas, Juniata October 05, 2021 Juniata junior Kristen Lucas dominated in her first match of the year as she didn't drop a single game. She won at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-0 and teamed with Olivia Ackley to win at No. 1 doubles, 8-0 to lead the Eagles to a sweep of Mount Aloysius, 9-0. Women's Athlete of the Week - Lily Nowak, Scranton September 28, 2021 Nowak captured the No. 2 singles flight for the Royals at the King's Fall Invitational on Saturday. In her quarterfinal match, she won 6-2, 6-0. She followed that performance with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the semifinals. In the championship match, she won 8-5. Nowak also rolled to the No. 2 doubles flight title along with partner Brigid O'Mara. The duo dropped only four sets, winning 8-3, 8-0, 8-1. Women's Athlete of the Week - Ashlynn Searer, Susquehanna September 21, 2021 Ashlynn led the way for her team in two overall wins as she dominated her competition, winning all but one of her singles' matches 6-0. In doubles, she and Haley White also won impressively, winning 8-2 and 8-1.
