2017 Volleyball Athletes of the Week

 
  • Athlete of the Week - Kristin Kirwan, Scranton
    October 30, 2017
    (Jr., OH - Park Ridge, N.J.) Scranton junior Kristin Kirwan led the team on the week, where the Royals recorded a historic win over Juniata on Saturday to lock up a home match in the Landmark Conference Playoffs. She kicked the week off slamming home 27 kills at Geneseo, which matched a career-high and followed it up with 12 kills against Susquehanna, then a team-high 16 kills in the Juniata win, the first loss for the Eagles since the Landmark was formed in 2007.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Morgan Lowe, Susquehanna
    October 16, 2017
    (Sr., OH - Lancaster, Pa.) Susquehanna senior Morgan Lowe had two double-doubles in the Landmark matches, her 12th and 13th of the season. Her 20 kills against Moravian tied her season-high. Overall, Lowe totaled 56 kills, 45 digs, and six blocks.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Kristin Kirwan, Scranton

    (Jr., OH - Park Ridge, N.J.) Junior Kristin Kirwan helped Scranton have a great weekend at the Leopard Invitational in California, as the Royals went 3-1 against strong competition to push their record on the year to 23-2 overall. She had double-doubles in three of the four matches Scranton played in on the weekend, including a 19-kill performance in a tough four-set loss to Austin on Saturday. Kirwan posted a big match against La Verne, finishing with 17 kills, 15 digs, four blocks and two service aces.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Mary Zacher, Moravian
    October 02, 2017
    (Sr., OH - Allentown, Pa.) Zacher helped the Greyhounds to a 2-1 record including a victory over Elizabethtown College in Moravian's 2017 Landmark Conference opener. Zacher had a .280 hitting percentage for the week over 11 sets to go with 51 kills (4.64 per set) in 118 attempts, five assists, five blocks and 26 digs (2.36 per set). She had 24 kill in the Hounds' 3-1 win at Etown.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Mackenzie Garner, Elizabethtown
    September 25, 2017
    (Jr., MH - Huntingdon, Pa.) Elizabethtown junior Mackenzie Garner had another big week, racking up 49 kills and 16 blocks as the Blue Jays went 4-0 and extended their winning streak to six matches. Garner reached double digits in kills in all four matches, three of which ended in sweeps for E-town. The junior middle hitter was extremely effective, hitting .446 for the week on 83 attempts and had at least three blocks in all four matches.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Mary Zacher, Moravian
    September 18, 2017
    (Sr., OH - Allentown, Pa.) Zacher helped the Greyhounds to a 3-2 week including a 3-1 mark at the Neumann University Knights Invitational where she was named to the All-Tournament Team. Zacher averaged 4.00 kills per set with a .237 hitting percentage, and she contributed 3.26 digs per set, six service aces and a block while scoring 82.5 points during the week.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Morgan Lowe, Susquehanna
    September 11, 2017
    (Sr., OH - Lancaster, Pa.) Susquehanna senior outside hitter Morgan Lowe helped the River Hawks to a pair of wins over Randolph-Macon, who is receving votes in the AVCA national poll, and No. 7 Mary Washington. The senior finished with 60 kills and an attack percentage of .395.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Kristin Kirwan, Scranton
    September 05, 2017
    (Jr., OH - Park Ridge, N.J.) Scranton junior Kristin Kirwan was named the MVP of the Scranton Invitational, as she led the Royals on a weekend where they posted a 4-0 mark. She hit .352 on the attack, committing just eight errors on 88 total chances in three matches. She finished the weekend with 39 kills (4.33 k/s), 33 digs (3.67 d/s), and seven blocks.
