2021 Volleyball Athletes of the Week

 
  • Athlete of the Week - Andrea Camacho Tenreiro, Drew
    November 01, 2021
    Camacho-Tenreiro averaged 5.18 kills and 4.91 digs per set on the week for the Rangers. In her top performance, she erupted for season-highs of 32 kills and 27 digs to go with three aces against Catholic. Later in the day, she helped the Rangers close the season on a high note, throwing down 17 kills to go with nine digs in a 3-0 win over Goucher, helping Drew finish its inaugural season with a 19-9 record and a pair of Landmark Conference victories.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Olivia Foley, Juniata
    October 25, 2021
    Foley averaged a robust 13.00 assists per set at the Wid Guisler Invitational to help the Eagles go 3-0 on the weekend, sweeping each match. The 3-0 sweeps came against the current number one team in the MAC Commonwealth (York, Pa.), Wesleyan (Conn.), who is ranked second in the NESCAC - also regionally ranked, and Carnegie Mellon, who is fourth in the UAA. The sophomore added 42 digs and four blocks and was named to the All-Tournament team.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Sarah Hanks, Elizabethtown
    October 18, 2021
    Junior Sarah Hanks recorded her 1,000th assist this past week, helping the Elizabethtown College women's volleyball team to a 3-1 run. The Harrisburg, Pa. native tallied her milestone with her 21st assist of the match against Stevenson on Tuesday. Hanks tallied double-doubles in wins against Penn State Harrisburg (35 assists, 14 digs) and Lycoming (21 assists, 10 digs) and finished the week with 35 or more assists in three of the four matches. She is fourth in the Landmark in assists per set (7.83) and fifth in total assists (517).
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Victoria Taylor, Juniata
    October 11, 2021
    Taylor had a big week for the Eagles as she helped JC to a 4-0 week where she led the team in kills in three of them. She had a team-high 13 in the win over conference rival Susquehanna and her season-high 22 kills in the five-set win over Wittenberg. Her .619 hitting percentage against Baldwin Wallace was her best single-game hitting percentage in a match. Additionally, she added 16 digs and three blocks.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Eryn Boken, Scranton
    October 04, 2021
    Boken went into double-digit kills in two matches on the week, as the Royals extended their winning streak to 11 games, which included a pair of Landmark Conference sweeps over Catholic & Goucher. She hit .456 on the week for Scranton and notched 11 service aces, eight of which came in the 3-0 win over Goucher. Additionally, she added 15 total blocks over the four matches.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Rosina Esposito, Susquehanna
    September 27, 2021
    Esposito helped the River Hawks to a 4-0 week, knocking off McDaniel in three sets Wednesday before taking all three matches at the Carnegie Mellon University Quad Friday and Saturday. After posting eight kills on 18 attempts in the three-set win over McDaniel midweek, Esposito tallied 21 kills on 42 attempts, hitting .381 in a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Carnegie Mellon. She added eight digs against CMU. Saturday, she finished with 11 kills, five digs, and two blocks in a sweep of Mount Union, and then posted a double-double of 15 kills, 11 digs, and four blocks in a 3-1 victory against Westminster.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Caileigh Cox, Scranton
    September 20, 2021
    Cox was named the MVP at the Castle Point Challenge at Stevens, as the Royals went 3-0 on the weekend and 4-0 overall. The junior went into double-figures in digs versus Clarkson, posting a career-high 18 to go along with a career-best five block assists for the Royals. She helped Scranton finish off the weekend with a victory over host Stevens, a team receiving votes in the latest AVCA Top 25 poll.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Andrea Camacho-Tenreiro, Drew
    September 13, 2021
    Camcho-Tenreiro averaged 4.50 kills, 2.64 digs, and 0.79 service aces per set in a 4-0 week that included three sweeps. She opened the week with 13 kills in a 3-0 victory at William Paterson, then posted her second double-double of the year with 20 kills and 16 digs in a 3-2 win at Montclair State. Camach-Tenreiro finished the week with two big performances in a home tri-meet, notching 14 kills, nine digs, and three aces in a 3-0 win over Mount Saint Vincent and 16 kills, seven digs, and four aces in a sweep over Wilkes. She has helped the Rangers to a 6-1 start in their inaugural season.
     
  • Athlete of the Week - Victoria Taylor, Juniata
    September 07, 2021
    Juniata College graduate student Victoria Taylor led the Eagles to a 2-1 week. Against Ithaca College, who received votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) preseason poll, Taylor hit an impressive .452 with 17 kills. She also added three digs and two blocks. Against St. John Fisher, who also received votes in the AVCA poll, she totaled 12 kills on 30 attempts for a .637 hitting percentage. In Juniata lone loss the the defending National Champion and sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins, Taylor had 11 kills and two digs. On the weekend, she totaled 40 kills, 10 digs, three blocks, and a .301 hitting percentage.
