2012-13 Track & Field Athletes of the Week


Men's Outdoor Track Player of the Week
	Donald Noble, Moravian (Sr., Souderton, Pa.) Noble was named the Track Athlete of the Year after helping Moravian to its sixth straight Landmark Conference Outdoor Championship. Noble won three distance events in the two-day meet. On Saturday, Noble won the 1,500-meter run in an ECAC qualifying time of 3:59.19 and also won the 10,000-meter run with an ECAC qualifying time of 32:09.15. On Sunday, Noble won the 5,000-meter run for his third championship of the weekend with an ECAC qualifying time of 15:08.71.

Men's Outdoor Field Player of the Week
	Ken Schetroma, Susquehanna (Sr., Elysburg, Pa.) Schetroma won his fourth-straight shot put title with his mark of 15.57m. He finished sixth in the discus (37.50m) and won his third-straight hammer title (46.37m). He was named Male Outdoor field Athlete of the Year for the third straight year.

Women's Outdoor Track Player of the Week
	Brielle Sutter, Moravian (So., Saddle Brook, N.J.) Sutter helped Moravian win its sixth straight Landmark Conference Outdoor Championship while being named the Track Athlete of the Year. On Sunday, Sutter won the 400-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 57.98 seconds, and she was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash in 13.14 seconds and the runner-up again in the 200-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 26.21 seconds. Moravian's 4x100-meter relay squad of Glass, Sutter, Redmond and Reglas finished first in an ECAC qualifying time of 49.16 seconds. The Greyhounds 4x400-meter team of Sutter, Glass, Redmond and Vanek was second with an ECAC qualifying time of 4:06.94.

Women's Outdoor Field Player of the Week
	Micah Leonard, Moravian (Sr., York, Pa.) Leonard was named the Landmark Conference Field Athlete of the Year after helping Moravian win its sixth straight Landmark Conference Outdoor Championship. On Saturday, Leonard won the long jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 5.69 meters (18 feet, eight inches), a career best that moves her to tenth place on the national NCAA Division III list. On Sunday, Leonard won the triple jump for the fourth straight year with an ECAC qualifying, Moravian and Landmark Conference record distance of 12.14 meters (39 feet, ten inches), a distance that moves her to third on the Division III.

Men's Outdoor Track Player of the Week
	Dillon Farrell, Moravian (So., North Wales, Pa.) Farrell ran in the 5,000-meter run at the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University, and he had an ECAC qualifying time of 14:54.81, which is the third best time in school history, in the race that was run in a steady rain that began just minutes before the race. Farrell competed in the third of four heats, finishing 12th in the heat and 50th of 102 runners in the event.

Men's Outdoor Field Player of the Week
	Ken Schetroma, Susquehanna (Sr., Elysburg, Pa.) Schetroma won the shot put at the East Stroudsburg All-American meet to post the best throw in the Landmark this season at 14.70 meters. He also took home third in the hammer (48.71m) and 13th in the discus (35.17m).

Women's Outdoor Track Player of the Week
	Brielle Sutter, Moravian (So., Saddle Brook, N.J.) Sutter was the runner-up in the 400-meter dash at Moravian's Greyhound Invitational in an ECAC qualifying time of 57.77 seconds, the second fastest time in school history and a mark that puts her 18th on the NCAA Division III list. Sutter also ran the leadoff leg of Moravian's 4x400-meter relay squad that finished third with an ECAC qualifying time 4:01.11, the eighth best time in school history and 46th in Division III.

Women's Outdoor Field Player of the Week
	Micah Leonard, Moravian (Sr., York, Pa.) Leonard won the triple jump at Moravian's Greyhound Invitational with a school record, Landmark record and ECAC qualifying mark of 11.97 meters, a distance that moves her to fourth on the NCAA Division III list. Leonard's jump was on her first of the finals.


Men's Outdoor Track Player of the Week
	Tomas Sanchez, Merchant Marine (So., Okinawa, Japan) Sanchez was the overall 800 meter meet winner of 60 competitors in the New Jersey Invitational hosted by TCNJ. He won on the home stretch by outkicking professional Scott March from Central Park Track Club with a time of 1:54.58. This is an ECAC qualifying mark and the fastest time run in the Landmark Conference this year and ranks 41st in Division III this season. Sanchez then came back in the 4x400m relay with a split of 49.2s for a team that ran 3:27.93, the second fastest time in the Landmark this year.

Men's Outdoor Field Player of the Week
	Kristopher Joint, Moravian (Jr., Bethlehem, Pa.) Joint won the long jump at Moravian's own Coach P Open with an ECAC qualifying leap of 7.05 meters, a distance that moves him to 11th on the NCAA Division III list this season.

Women's Outdoor Track Player of the Week
	Angela Shaffer, Juniata (Sr., Prospect, Pa.) Shaffer won the heptathlon at the Messiah Invitational this weekend with 3778 points. Her score ranks 30th in NCAA Division III this season. She won the 100 meter hurdles and high jump while finishing second in the long jump and third in the 200 meters. Shaffer added a fourth place finish in the 800 meters and was sixth in javelin and seventh in the shot put to finish ahead of eight other competitors.

Women's Outdoor Field Player of the Week
	Micah Leonard, Moravian (Sr., York, Pa.) Leonard led Moravian at its own Coach P Open last weekend by winning the long jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 5.60 meters, a distance that is ninth on the NCAA Division III list this season. Leonard was also the runner-up in the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 11.53 meters, a distance that would be tenth on the TFRRS list but Leonard is already sixth in the event.


Men's Outdoor Track Player of the Week
	Dillon Farrell, Moravian (So., North Wales, Pa.) Farrell ran an ECAC qualifying time of 15:05.18 in the 5,000-meter race at the non-scoring Sam Howell Invitational hosted by Princeton University. His time is the eighth best in school history, and 48th on the national Division III list this year. Farrell also competed in the 800 meters at the Muhlenberg Invitational and finished 18th in 2:02.19.

Men's Outdoor Field Player of the Week
	Jared Minori, Susquehanna (So., Tyrone, Pa.) Minori threw for a personal-best mark of 65.84 meters, easily eclipsing his previous personal best of 62.24 meters to win the event at Susquehanna’s Jim Taylor Invitational. The mark is the best in Division III this year. Minori also took sixth in the shot put with a throw of 12.52 meters.

Women's Outdoor Track Player of the Week
	Ashley West, Susquehanna (Fr., East Hampton, N.Y.) West won the 800 meters and broke the school and Landmark Conference record with her time of 2:16.71 at Susquehanna’s Jim Taylor Invitational. Her time is the 20th best in Division III this year.

Women's Outdoor Field Player of the Week
	Micah Leonard, Moravian (Sr., York, Pa.) Leonard won the triple jump at the non-scoring Muhlenberg College Invitational with an ECAC qualifying distance of 11.64 meters, a distance that is fifth on the national Division III list. The distance is also the seventh best leap in school history. Leonard was also fourth in the long jump at 5.02 meters. Both marks lead the conference this year.


Men's Outdoor Track Player of the Week
	Albert Myers, Moravian (Fr., Rahway, N.J.) Myers was seventh in the 100-meter dash at the Lafayette College 7-Way Meet in a ECAC qualifying time of 11.06 seconds, which is 38th on the TFRRS national ranking list, and he finished tied for tenth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.68 seconds. Myers was part of Moravian's 4x100-meter relay team that was seventh in an ECAC qualifying time of 43.57 seconds. Myers also placed third in the long jump at a distance of 6.38 meters.

Men's Outdoor Field Player of the Week
	Timothy Lorah, Moravian (Jr., Middlesex, N.J.) Lorah was second in the javelin at the Lafayette College 7-Way Meet with an ECAC qualifying mark of 64.16 meters, a distance that ranks him second on the TFRRS national ranking list.

Women's Outdoor Track Player of the Week
	Jaclyn Kellon, Goucher (Sr., Cleveland Heights, Ohio) Kellon was the first runner across the finish line in the 400-meter hurdles Saturday at the Goucher Track & Field Classic. Her winning time of 1:05.01 broke the Gopher Stadium record of 1:06.02 set by Juniata's Melissa Johnson at the 2009 Landmark Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships. It's also the fastest time in the conference so far this season and the second-fastest time in Landmark history.

Women's Outdoor Field Player of the Week
	Micah Leonard, Moravian (Sr., York, Pa.) Leonard captured first place in the triple jump at the Lafayette College 7-Way Meet with an ECAC qualifying leap of 11.63 meters, a distance that puts her fourth on the TFRRS national ranking list.


Men's Outdoor Track Player of the Week
	Kwane Hayle, Susquehanna (Fr., Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) Hayle won the 100 meter and 200 meter races on Saturday at the Juniata Invitational to mark the fastest times in the Landmark this season. In his first outdoor race of his career, Hayle finished first in the 100 meters in 11.10 seconds. He followed up with a win in the 200 meters in 22.96 seconds.

Men's Outdoor Field Player of the Week
	Justin Clapper, Juniata (Sr., Buffalo Mills, Pa.) Clapper won both the hammer and discus throws at the Juniata Invitational Saturday. He set a new personal record in the hammer with a throw of 46.05 meters. Clapper won the discus by over a meter, finishing with a throw of 39.70 meters.

Women's Outdoor Track Player of the Week
	Brielle Sutter, Moravian (So., Saddle Brook, N.J.) Sutter was 11th in the 200-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 26.14 seconds at the Tribe Invitational hosted by the College of William and Mary to open the 2013 outdoor season. Her time marks the fastest time in the Landmark this season. Sutter also ran the anchor leg for Moravian's 4x400-meter relay in 59 seconds to help the team place ninth in a time of 4:08.37. Sutter was 12th in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:00.50, and she was 18th in the long jump at 4.78 meters.

Women's Outdoor Field Player of the Week
	Cameron Weaver, Susquehanna (So., Selinsgrove, Pa.) Weaver won the shot put in her first outdoor meet of the season with a career-best toss of 11.52 meters. She also placed third in the discus at 31.15 meters and seventh in the hammer with a throw of 25.91 meters.


Men's Outdoor Track Player of the Week
	Nate Alter, Juniata (Jr., Pittsburgh, Pa.) Alter finished ninth in the 10,000 meter run at Lynchburg’s Dr. Jack Toms Invitational. He set a new personal record time of 32:26.91, nearly 16 seconds faster than his previous record.


Men's Indoor Track Co-Player of the Week
	Kwane Hayle, Susquehanna (Fr., Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) Hayle captured first in both the 60 meters and the 200 meters at the Landmark Championship meet, helping Susquehanna to a second place team finish. He set a new school record in the 60 meters, finishing in 6.92 seconds and paced the field in the 200 meters with a time of 22.92 seconds. He was named both Co-Track Athlete and Co-Rookie of the Year.

Men's Indoor Track Co-Player of the Week
	Donald Noble, Moravian (Sr., Souderton, Pa.) Noble won a pair of events to help Moravian win its fourth straight and fifth total Landmark Conference Championship at the 2013 meet. Noble captured the mile run for the third straight year in 4:22.72 and the 5,000-meter run for the third consecutive championship meet in 15:34.61 to be named the Co-Track Athlete of the Year, the second straight year Noble has won the award.

Men's Indoor Track Field Player of the Week
	Kristopher Joint, Moravian (Jr., Bethlehem, Pa.) Joint was named the Men’s Field Athlete of the Year while leading Moravian to its fourth straight and fifth Landmark Conference Indoor Championship at the 2013 meet. Joint captured the triple jump title for the third consecutive year with a meet record and ECAC qualifying mark of 14.42 meters. He also won the long jump at an ECAC qualifying mark of 6.70 meters, and Joint was fifth in the high jump, clearing 1.80 meters.

Women's Indoor Track Player of the Week
	Ashley West, Susquehanna (Fr., East Hampton, N.Y.) West won the one-mile run with a personal-best time of 5:09.94, four seconds ahead of the runner-up from Juniata and just tenths of a second off the conference record of 5:09.67. It also marked the second-fastest time in SU history. West also won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:24.10 and was a member of the second-place 4 x 400 relay team. She was named Women’s Track Athlete and Co-Rookie of the Year awards.

Women's Indoor Field Player of the Week
	Micah Leonard, Moravian (Sr., York, Pa.) Leonard was named the Field Athlete of the Year for the third straight year after leading Moravian to its sixth straight Landmark Conference Indoor Championship at the 2013. Leonard captured the triple jump title for the fourth consecutive year with a meet record and ECAC qualifying mark of 11.66 meters. She also won the long jump for the third straight meet at an ECAC qualifying mark of 5.47 meters, and Leonard was the runner-up in the high jump, clearing 1.47 meters.


Men's Indoor Track Player of the Week
	Peter Kerns, Susquehanna (Fr., Sandy Hook, Conn.) Kerns finished sixth out of 51 competitors in the 200 meter dash with a mark of 23.31. He earned the second fastest mark in the conference this season and second fastest Division III time at the meet. Kerns also ran the second leg of the distance medley relay, helping the team to a fourth place finish in 10:43.74.

Men's Indoor Field Player of the Week
	Kristopher Joint, Moravian (Jr., Bethlehem, Pa.) Joint broke the Moravian and Landmark Conference records in the triple jump with a leap of 14.91 meters to lead the Greyhounds at the non-scoring Princeton University Invitational. Joint was second in the event with his ECAC qualifying distance, and the record-breaking mark improved his standing to fourth in the nation in the event on the national list. Joint was also third in the long jump with an ECAC qualifying mark and career best leap of 7.20 meters, which is tied for fifth on the TFRRS list.

Women's Indoor Track Player of the Week
	Morgan Redmond, Moravian (So., Kinnelon, N.J.) Redmond was tenth in the in 60-meter hurdles at the Princeton University Invitational with an ECAC qualifying time of 9.42 seconds. She was also part of Moravian's 4x400-meter relay that finished third in an ECAC qualifying time of 4:06.22. Both marks are the fastest in the Landmark this season.

Women's Indoor Field Player of the Week
	Micah Leonard, Moravian (Sr., York, Pa.) Leonard set the Moravian record in the triple jump and turned in two of the Greyhounds' seven ECAC qualifying marks to lead Moravian College at the non-scoring Princeton University Invitational. Leonard was third in the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying, school and Landmark Conference record distance of 11.82 meters. The mark improved Leonard's standing to tied for fourth in the nation in the event national list. Leonard was fifth in the long jump with an ECAC qualifying leap of 5.50 meters, which is now 14th in the nation on the TFRRS list.


Men's Indoor Track Player of the Week
	Sal D'Angelo, Susquehanna (Jr., Glenside, Pa.) D’Angelo won the mile at the Susquehanna Invitational with a time of 4:28.27 to break his personal best by four seconds. His time ranks second in the Landmark this season. D’Angelo also went on to take seventh in the 800 meter run with a career-best time of 2:01.69.

Men's Indoor Field Player of the Week
	Ken Schetroma, Susquehanna (Sr., Elysburg, Pa.) Schetroma placed fifth in the shot put at the Susquehanna Invitational. He recorded the top mark in the conference this season at 14.98 meters. He also placed seventh in the weight throw finishing with a throw of 13.98 meters.

Women's Indoor Track Player of the Week
	Katrina Woods, Juniata (Jr., Shirleysburg, Pa.) Woods set a new Landmark indoor record in the 3000 meters at Bucknell's 19th Annual Winter Classic. She marked a new personal best time of 10:23.90 and crushed the previous Landmark record by nearly eight seconds.

Women's Indoor Field Player of the Week
	Julie Scales, Susquehanna (Jr., Berkeley Heights, N.J.) Scales took first overall in the pole vault at the Susquehanna Invitational with a mark of 3.05 meters, easily ahead of the second-place mark of 2.90m. Her mark tied her personal best.


Men's Indoor Track Player of the Week
	Yacine Zerdoum, Moravian (Jr., Warrington, Pa.) Zerdoum captured the 400-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 50.82 seconds to lead the Moravian College men's indoor track & field team at the non-scoring 21st John Covert Classic hosted by Lehigh University.

Men's Indoor Field Player of the Week
	Ken Schetroma, Susquehanna (Sr., Elysburg, Pa.) Schetroma won the shot put (14.79m) and the weight throw (15.54m) at the Susquehanna Crusader Classic on Friday. Both marks are the best in the Landmark Conference this season.

Women's Track Player of the Week
	Katrina Woods, Juniata (Jr., Shirleysburg, Pa.) Woods won the mile in a new personal record 5:15.41 at the Susquehanna Crusader Classic. She beat her previous PR set at the 2011 Landmark Indoor Championships by five seconds as she crossed almost 24 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Woods posted the fastest time in the Landmark this season by more than 16 seconds. She also added a third place finish in the 5000 meters finishing in 20:18.56.

Women's Field Player of the Week
	Micah Leonard, Moravian (Sr., York, Pa.) Leonard captured the long jump with an ECAC qualifying leap of 5.48 meters and she was second in the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 11.63 meters at the non-scoring 21st John Covert Classic hosted by Lehigh University.


Men's Indoor Track Player of the Week
	Ryan Lopes, Susquehanna (So., Lewisburg, Pa.) Lopes placed seventh in the 400 meters at Bucknell’s Bison Open. He was the top Division III finisher and posted the second fastest time in the conference this season at 51.05. Lopes also anchored the Crusaders’ 4x400 relay team with a fourth place finish. The team turned in the top time in the Landmark this season at 3:30.05.

Men's Indoor Field Player of the Week
	Shawn Brubaker, Catholic (Sr., Lancaster, Pa.) Brubaker won the Lebanon Valley Invitational weight throw with a toss of 47' 5.75" (14.47m) to post the second best distance in the conference this season. He added a seventh place finish in the shot put (38' 7" – 11.76m).

Women's Indoor Track Player of the Week
	Ashley West, Susquehanna (Fr., East Hampton, N.Y.) West broke the school record in the 800 meters with her time of 2:20.96 which was also good for third overall at Bucknell’s Bison Open. It marked a near three-second personal record and shattered the previous school record of 2:22.75 set in 2005. Her time is the fastest in the conference so far this season.

Women's Field Player of the Week
	Angela Shaffer, Juniata (Sr., Prospect, Pa.) Shaffer picked up two wins at the Lebanon Valley Indoor Invite on Saturday. She won the triple jump in a season-best 10.15m and won the high jump after clearing 5'4" or 1.62m to mark the best distance in the Landmark this season.


Men's Indoor Track Player of the Week
	Kwane Hayle, Susquehanna (Fr., Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) Kwane Hayle narrowly eclipsed his school record in the 60 meters by posting a time of 6.96 in the finals to win the event. He went on to also win the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.20, narrowly missing surpassing his previous personal-best time of 22.94. The freshman holds the top mark in the Landmark in both events.

Men's Indoor Field Player of the Week
	Ken Schetroma, Susquehanna (Sr., Elysburg, Pa.) Ken Schetroma took fourth in the weight throw with his toss of 14.72 meters and placed as the second Division III finisher. He went on to add another fourth-place showing in the shot put with a mark of 14.69 meters. Schetroma holds the top mark in the conference in both events this season.

Women's Indoor Track Player of the Week
	Ashley West, Susquehanna (Fr., East Hampton, N.Y.) Ashley West placed third in the 800 meters at the Orange and Maroon Classic with the second fastest indoor mark in Susquehanna history at 2:23.94. The rookie also turned in the top time in the Landmark so far this season in the event. West also helped the Crusaders’ 4x400 meter relay team to the win in a time of 4:14.21.

Women's Indoor Field Player of the Week
	Micah Leonard, Moravian (Sr., York, Pa.) Micah Leonard won two events at the Susquehanna University Orange & Maroon Classic. Leonard captured first place in both the long jump at an ECAC qualifying distance of 5.24 meters (17 feet, 2 1/4 inches) and the triple jump with another ECAC qualifying mark of 11.30 meters (37 feet, one inch).


Men's Indoor Track Player of the Week
	Dylan Tack, USMMA (Fr., Coupeville, Wash.) Tack placed third in the 600 meters at the Coast Guard Academy Winter Invite. His time of 1:26.69 converts to 1:25.92 and qualifies him for the ECAC Championships in the 500 meters. His time ranks eighth best on the USMMA all-time list.

Women's Indoor Track Player of the Week
	Gretchen Holoubek, USMMA (Sr., Severna Park, Md.) Holoubek won the one mile run at the Coast Guard Academy Winter Invite by more than five seconds with a time of 5:33.23. Her time marks the fastest in the Landmark so far this season and she beat her own personal record by 17 seconds. The time also places her seventh on the USMMA all-time list. She also competed in the 4x800 meter relay and placed second with a time of 11:41.81.


Men's Indoor Track Player of the Week
	Andrew Walsh, USMMA (Fr., Granville, Ohio) Walsh placed seventh overall in the one-mile run at Crowell Invitational, besting all D-III runners. His time of 4:32.75 is the best one-mile time recorded in the Landmark Conference this season by seven seconds and places him seventh overall on USMMA's All-Time list in the one-mile run.


Women's Indoor Track Player of the Week
	Katherine Currier - Goucher (So., Brooklyn, N.Y.) Katherine Currier set a new indoor school record with her winning time of 11:00.20 in the 3,000-meter run at the Hagerstown Invitational. The previous record was set by Fraley Coles in 2006, but Currier beat it by 19 seconds.


Men's Indoor Track Player of the Week
	Kwane Hayle - Susquehanna (Fr., Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) Hayle set the program's 60 meter dash record in his first-ever collegiate meet and finished third in the 60 meter with a time of 6.97 seconds, easily eclipsing the 2003 mark of 7.14 set by Kyle Sanders. His 60m time is currently third in DIII (via TFRRS). Hayle also took fifth in the 200 meter (22.94), barely off the school record.

Men's Indoor Field Player of the Week
	Kristopher Joint - Moravian (Jr., Bethlehem, Pa.) Joint won the triple jump at the Lehigh University Season Opener Friday with a school record and Landmark record distance of 14.57 meters (47 feet, 9 ¾ inches). Joint's leap surpassed the previous school record by 8 1/4 inches), and a personal best by more than a foot. His previous best was 14.03 meters (46 feet, 1/2 inch).

Women's Indoor Track Player of the Week
	Brielle Sutter - Moravian (So., Saddle Brook, N.J.) Sutter was the runner-up at the Lehigh University Season Opener in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.76, and she was part of Moravian's winning 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:10.04. Sutter also tied for seventh in the 60-meter dash at 8.36 seconds.

Women's Indoor Field Player of the Week
	Micah Leonard - Moravian (Sr., York, Pa.) Leonard won a pair of events at the Lehigh University Season Opener to start the 2012-13 season. Leonard won the long jump with a career long leap of 5.61 meters (18 feet, five inches), the second longest jump in school history, and she also captured first in the triple jump at a career best 11.69 meters (38 feet, 4 ¼ inches), also the second best distance in school history. Both jumps also broke her Landmark Conference records.
