2012-13 Men's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week

Offensive Player of the Week
Connor Moran, Susquehanna (Fr., A, Delafield, Wisc.)

Moran scored three goals apiece in two Landmark Conference tournament games this week. Susquehanna upset No. 2 Scranton in Wednesday’s semifinal bolstered by Moran’s three goals and an assist. In the championship game, Moran tied for the team-high with three goals as the Crusaders won their first Landmark Championship after earning a 6-3 win over Merchant Marine.
Defensive Player of the Week
Will Torrence, Susquehanna (Sr., G, Wallingford, Pa.)

Torrence earned two wins this week in the Landmark Conference tournament. He played all 120 minutes in goal for Susquehanna as the Crusaders won their first Landmark Championship. In the semifinal against No. 2 Scranton, Torrence made 11 saves and allowed just four goals finishing with a 73.3 save percentage. In the championship game, Torrence led a defense that allowed just one first half goal and three total while racking up eight saves. He finished with a 3.50 GAA average this week with .731 save percentage.
Offensive Player of the Week
Steve Patterson, Goucher (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn.)

Patterson’s unassisted goal 2:24 into the second quarter put the Gophers ahead for the first time. He added a second goal before halftime, opened the scoring in the second half with an unassisted goal and then accounted for Goucher's only goal in the final 15 minutes of play. Patterson's four-goal effort against the Mariners boosted his total for the season to 20, which ranks second on the team.
Defensive Player of the Week
Connor Mishaw, Goucher (Sr., GK, Wilmington, Del.)

Mishaw made 14 saves and allowed only five goals in the regular season finale against USMMA. He is only nine saves away from becoming just the fourth goalkeeper in the history of Goucher's men's lacrosse program to reach 600 career saves.
Offensive Player of the Week
Sam Morgan, Goucher (So., A, Wilmot, N.H.)

Morgan’s goal 2:23 into overtime not only provided Goucher with a 7-6 victory over Scranton, it also allowed the Gophers to clinch the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Landmark Conference postseason tournament. He finished with two goals and a ground ball in the win. Morgan also tallied a game-winning overtime goal earlier this year to lift the Gophers past Catholic.
Defensive Player of the Week
Sean Sheehy, Merchant Marine (Sr., M, Annapolis, Md.)

In the Mariners only game of the week, Sheehy helped Merchant Marine maintain possession control winning 14-of-18 faceoffs while collecting a game-high 12 groundballs against Washington & Jefferson. The 9-6 victory secured USMMA's first Landmark Conference postseason appearance since 2010.
Offensive Player of the Week
Phil Walker, Merchant Marine (Jr., Midfield, East Falmouth, Mass.)

Walker notched eight goals on 12 shots this week for a shooting percentage of 66.7%. He also added a pair of assists to help Merchant Marine go 2-0 on the week with a non-conference win against Bryn Athyn and a Landmark victory over Drew. Walker's goal in the fourth quarter against Drew was vital in Merchant Marine staving off a Rangers' comeback attempt.
Defensive Player of the Week
Ben Worthington, Scranton (Sr., GK, Jenkintown, Pa.)

Worthington made nine saves apiece as the Royals lost to 15th-ranked Franklin & Marshall 7-6 in overtime, but came back on Saturday to defeat Susquehanna 9-3. On Saturday he became one of only four goalkeepers in Scranton history to record more than 400 saves in a career. Worthington added nine ground balls and a caused turnover in the two games as the Royals clinched a spot in the Landmark playoffs.
Offensive Player of the Week
Alec Mikrut, Scranton (Fr., M, Belle Mead, N.J.)

Mikrut scored a season-high four points on three goals and an assist to help Scranton to an 11-3 victory over Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday. Earlier in the week, Mikrut scored a then season-high three goals in a 13-6 victory over FDU-Florham.
Defensive Player of the Week
Matt Finor, Scranton (So, Churchville, Pa.)

Finor kept the Royals on offense in their last two games by winning 21 of 29 face-offs in wins over FDU-Florham (9 of 14) and the Merchant Marine Academy (12 of 15). He also finished with 16 ground balls as Scranton won its fifth and sixth straight games to improve to 6-3 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
Offensive Player of the Week
Gus Sturm, Scranton (Jr., A, Devon, Pa.)

Sturm scored a career-high three goals to help Scranton turn back Drew, 10-7, on Thursday. Iit was Scranton's first win over the Rangers since April 24, 2004. Sturm started a three-goal rally when he scored his third goal with 12:48 left in the fourth period to help Scranton extend a 7-6 lead into a 10-6 cushion.

Connor Mishaw, Goucher (Sr., GK, Wilmington, Del.)

Mishaw made 13 saves in Goucher’s 10-2 win over Susquehanna to take a half game lead in the Landmark Conference standings. He boasts a 2.13 goals against average in the game and .867 save percentage to go along with two ground balls.

Austen Lein, Susquehanna (Jr., A, New Vernon, N.J.)

Lein racked up ten points this week as Susquehanna went 2-0. In a 10-4 win over Messiah, Lein notched three goals with two assists. The Crusaders moved to 2-0 in the Landmark with a 10-5 win over Merchant Marine on Saturday. Lein helped the team with two goals and three assists to go along with two ground balls.

Connor Mishaw, Goucher (Sr., GK, Wilmington, Del.)

Mishaw helped Goucher to a 11-5 win over conference-foe Drew on Saturday. The senior goalkeeper made 13 saves and finished with just five goals against and a 72.2 save percentage.

Geoff Harty, Merchant Marine (So., A, Chicago, Ill.)

Harty scored 13 points in two games this week (7g, 6a) helping Merchant Marine earn a 13-3 victory over rival SUNY Maritime. The Mariners also claimed their first Landmark Conference win since 2010 by overcoming a three goal deficit in a win against Catholic.

Alex Peyreigne, Merchant Marine (So., GK, Weston, Conn.)

Peyreigne made a total of 24 saves, allowing only 11 goals, over two games this week helping Merchant Marine earn a 13-3 victory against rival SUNY Maritime. The Mariners also claimed their first Landmark Conference win since 2010 overcoming a three goal deficit in a win over Catholic. Peyreigne finished with a 5.82 goals against average and 68.6 save percentage for the week.

Connor Moran, Susquehanna (Fr., A, Delafield, Wisc.)

Moran finished with eight goals and six assists in three wins for Susquehanna this week. He connected on eight of 27 shots for the Crusaders. Moran tallied a goal and two assists in a 7-2 win over Hood before posting two goals and two assists against Shenandoah. On Saturday, Moran racked up five goals and two assists in a win at Randolph. He also had eight ground balls in the three games.

Tim Cleary, Scranton (Sr., D, Shrewsbury, N.J.)

The 2012 honorable mention all-American and 2013 preseason honorable mention all-American finished with seven ground balls and a caused turnover as the Royals went 1-1 during this week. Cleary anchored a defensive unit that held top-ranked Cortland St. to five goals for 50 minutes and killed an extra-man opportunity. On Saturday, Scranton held Lycoming to one goal in the first half and only four for the game to earn a 9-4 victory.

Tim Angell, Wash. & Jefferson (So., A, Andover, Mass.)

Angell opened the week with two goals and an assist in a loss at Kenyon. He followed up with a career-high seven goals in the Presidents' 19-7 victory over La Roche on Saturday. Angell scored on all seven of his shots that were on goal against the Redhawks. He averaged 4.5 goals and 1.5 assists in a 1-1 week for W&J.
Offensive Player of the Week
Dillon McInerney, Scranton (Sr., M,  Hawthorne, N.J.)

McInerney scored a career-high six goals, including three in the second period, to break a 1-1 tie as the Royals opened their 2013 season with a 9-3 victory over Farmingdale State on Saturday at Fitzpatrick Field. His six goals tied for the eighth most single-game total in Scranton history.
Defensive Player of the Week
Alex Peyreigne, Merchant Marine (So, G, Weston, Conn.)

Peyreigne went 1-1 on the week, making a game-high 20 saves in a loss against No. 7 Stevens Tech. He combined for 34 saves in two games during the week and finished with a 68.0 save percentage. In the second game of the week, Peyreigne made 14 saves and allowed just two goals as the Mariners defeated Fairleigh Dickinson 8-2. He finished with a 8.26 goals against average for the week.
Offensive Player of the Week
Pierce Ingram, Goucher (Jr., M, Austin, Texas)

Ingram scored four goals and added two assists as Goucher opened the season with a 13-9 win over Birmingham-Southern. Two of his four goals came during Goucher's 5-0 run in the fourth quarter that provided the Gophers with a 13-8 lead.
Defensive Player of the Week
Harrison Holak, Catholic (Fr., G, Doylestown, Pa.)

In his first career start on Saturday, Holak finished with 13 saves, while allowing only one goal in a 9-1 Cards win over Hood College. The freshman keeper also registered four ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Holak stopped 92.9% of the shots he faced, including six stops in the 4th quarter, as the Cards nearly pitched a shutout in their home opener.
