2013 Softball Athletes of the Week

Player of the Week
Alyssa Cantalini, Susquehanna (So., 3B, Kitchener, Ontario)

Cantalini played in all seven games this week including five Landmark tournament games. She hit .435 at the plate with a .500 performance in the tournament. Cantalini finished with four RBI including three in the tournament opener against Juniata and the championship-winning RBI in the form of a bases-loaded walk in extra innings against Catholic. Susquehanna defeated the Cardinals twice on Saturday to win its first Landmark Championship.
Pitcher of the Week
Morgan Lewis, Susquehanna (So., P, Newtown, Pa.)

Lewis made four appearances in the circle for Susquehanna this week with three starts. She earned a win over Misericordia after pitching four innings without giving up an earned run. Lewis opened the Landmark tournament for the Crusaders and pitched a complete game shutout as the team earned the 8-0 win over Juniata. In the championship series against Catholic, Lewis picked up a save in game one with 1.2 innings of relief and went 6.1 innings in the circle of the final game giving up just four hits and two runs. She finished with 14 strikeouts with four in three of the four games and racked up a 0.78 earned run average for the week.

Player of the Week
Alyssa Cantalini, Susquehanna (So., 3B, Kitchener, Ontario)

Cantalini hit .474 this week with an .895 slugging percentage. She had three multi-hit games as the team went 6-0 and locked up the No. 1 seed in the Landmark Conference tournament. She went .500 at the plate in a doubleheader against Scranton with a double and two home runs.
Pitcher of the Week
Ashley Cole, Susquehanna (Fr., P, Carle Place, N.Y.)

Cole made three appearances in the circle this week with one start. She pitched 13 scoreless innings and earned three wins with 15 strikeouts. In her complete game against Scranton, Cole gave up just two hits and a walk while racking up 13 strikeouts.

Player of the Week
Mel Galella, Catholic (Sr., RF, Edison, N.J.)

Galella went 3-for-6 in two games against Scranton to finish .500 at the plate. She scored three runs and tallied two RBI including a solo homerun in the first game. Galella was perfect in the field with one putout.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Alyssa Fegely, Moravian (Sr., P, Mertztown, Pa.)

Fegely helped Moravian to a 3-3 record last week including a sweep at Juniata in Landmark Conference action to clinch the program's 19th straight postseason appearance. Fegely was 2-0 during the week in the circle with a 0.00 ERA, five walks and 12 strikeouts in 11.1 innings over three appearances. At the plate, Fegely was 5-for-10 with two runs, a double, a homer, six RBIs and a .900 slugging percentage.

Player of the Week
Miranda Sergas, Moravian (Jr., OF, Lansdale, Pa.)

Sergas helped Moravian to a 6-0 record last week and also became the 31st player in school history to reach 100 career hits, now with 104. Sergas hit .625 for the week and she added two doubles for a .750 slugging percentage. She had six runs, five RBI and three walks for a .684 on-base percentage. In the field, Sergas had eight putouts while playing in both left and right field for the week. The Royals also went 2-0 in conference play as Sergas went .833 at the plate with four RBI.
Pitcher of the Week
Sarah Hoffman, Susquehanna (Sr., P, Laceyville, Pa.)

Hoffman earned three wins in the circle this week with two shutouts, including an 8-0 win over conference foe, Juniata. Hoffman allowed just 13 hits in 16 innings of work while striking out 11. The senior finished the week with a  0.44 earned run average for Susquehanna.

Player of the Week
Jenn Dalickas, Moravian (Jr., OF/DP, Mertztown, Pa.)

Dalickas was one of Moravian's leaders at the plate, hitting safely in all eight games in a 5-3 week for the Greyhounds. She hit .481 and had team highs of nine runs scored, 21 total bases and a .778 slugging percentage. She also had three doubles, a triple, a homer and seven RBIs during the week to go with a .500 on-base percentage. Dalickas had three putouts and an assist from her right field position.
Pitcher of the Week
Kelsea Decker, Juniata (Jr., P/1B, Waynesboro, Pa.)

Decker went undefeated (3-0) during the week with wins over La Roche, Scranton and Catholic. She helped the team post a 2-2 record against Landmark competition. Decker finished the week with 15 strikeouts in 18.2 innings pitched. She allowed just three earned runs to post a 1.12 earned run average.

Player of the Week
Amanda Dizinno, Moravian (Sr., 1B, Budd Lake, N.J.)

Dizinno helped Moravian to a 4-0 record in non-conference action this week. She hit .667 in three games with three runs scored, two doubles and two RBIs. Dizinno had 31 putouts at her first base position in the three games she played to give her 951 career putouts, just four shy of breaking the school record of 954.
Pitcher of the Week
Ashley Cole, Susquehanna (Fr., RHP, Carle Place, N.Y.)

Cole pitched a three-hit shutout for Susquehanna this week. The freshman helped lift the Crusaders to a 3-0 win over Catholic with five strikeouts and just one walk.

Player of the Week
Lexie Forsell, Drew (Jr., UTL, West Windsor, N.J.)

Forsell went .571 (4-for-7) at the plate with five RBI in a split with No. 20 Moravian on Saturday. She racked up three hits in the Rangers upset in game one, finishing 3-for-4 at the plate. The sophomore scored what proved to the game-winning run and then provided the Rangers with some insurance on a two-RBI double in the fifth. She drove in three runs in the nightcap and pulled the Rangers within a run in the bottom of the seventh inning on a two-RBI single.
Pitcher of the Week
Lindsay Sullivan, Moravian (Fr., P/INF, South Glens Falls, N.Y.)

Sullivan tossed a perfect game for her first career victory in Moravian's 8-0, 5-inning win over the College of Staten Island Sunday. It was the seventh perfect game in school history and the 32nd no-hitter in school history. Sullivan faced just 15 batters and had two strikeouts. Sullivan also saw action at first base in two other games during Moravian's 3-1 week. At the plate, Sullivan was 4-for-8 with three runs and two RBIs.

Player of the Week
Jeramie Barletta, Drew (Sr., SS, Madison, N.J.)

Barletta helped the Rangers close out their spring break trip on a six-game win streak. She hit safely in her last four games and batted .480 on the week with three doubles and seven RBI. She singled home the go-ahead run against Bridgewater St. in the 8th inning of a 6-5 Drew win. Barletta was also 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs against New Jersey City University.
Pitcher of the Week
Laura D'Ornellas, Drew (So, P/OF, Lanoka Harbor, N.J.)

D’Ornellas led the Rangers to a pair of complete game wins this week. She allowed only three earned runs in the two starts for a 1.40 ERA. In her first appearance this week, D’Ornellas pitched a complete game shutout while scattering four hits with three strikeouts. She followed up with seven strikeouts in eight innings pitched of a 6-5 win against Bridgewater State.

Player of the Week
Dior George, Moravian (So., OF, Bethlehem, Pa.)

George helped the 14th-ranked Greyhounds to a 6-2 record to finish off their ten-game trip to the National Training Center. George, who hit safely in all eight games during the week, had a .483 batting average with 14 hits in 29 at-bats to go with 13 runs scored, three doubles, two triples and four RBIs. She had a .516 on-base percentage and a .724 slugging percentage for the week, and George had eight putouts from her centerfield position.
Pitcher of the Week
Ashley Cole, Susquehanna (Fr., P, Carle Place, N.Y.)

Cole earned three complete game victories this week with 31 strikeouts. She finished with a 1.08 earned run average after allowing just four earned runs in 26 innings pitched. Cole threw two perfect innings of relief against John Carroll to seal the Susquehanna win on Monday. On Tuesday, Cole pitched a complete game shutout against St. Vincent scattering only one hit with 11 strikeouts. Two days later, she pitched three innings of relief against Coe with two strikeouts before pitching a complete game win against Adrian with four strikeouts. Cole wrapped up the week with 12 strikeouts in seven full innings of work to earn the win over Manhattanville.

Player of the Week
Shannen Mohr, Moravian (Sr., 3B, Slatington, Pa.)

Mohr was three-for-six at the plate in 19th-ranked Moravian's first two games of the year. She was three-for-three with two runs, a double and three RBIs in the season opening win over Emerson (Mass.) College. Mohr had two putouts and three assists from her third base position.
Pitcher of the Week
Alyssa Fegely, Moravian (Sr., P, Mertztown, Pa.)

Fegely tossed her second career no-hitter in Moravian's 2013 season opener, an 8-0, 5-inning win over Emerson (Mass.) College. Fegely had seven strikeouts and five walks to lead the 19th-ranked Greyhounds to the win. Fegely was also two-for-three at the plate in the game, and she scored a run as a pinch runner in Moravian's other game of the week, a 3-0 win over St. Vincent.
