TOWSON, Md. – Elizabethtown baseball player Kyle Fackler ’17 has been named to the D3baseball.com All-America Second Team.
The Landmark Conference Player of the Year and three-time All-Landmark First Team second baseman had a career year as a senior. He set program career marks in hits (222) and runs (165), while breaking Andy Barrick's former single-season hits record of 70 that stood for nearly three decades.
Fackler, a Harrisburg native, is poised to finish top 10 nationally among NCAA Division III players in hits (77, sixth), and top 20 in both batting average (.443, 12th) and on base percentage (.529, 17th). He led the Landmark Conference in hits, runs (45), batting average and on base percentage, while ranking second in total bases (100), third in doubles (14), third in walks (28), seventh in slugging percentage (.575) and seventh in stolen bases (8).
In addition to holding Elizabethtown's career hits and runs records, Fackler also set a new benchmark for at-bats with 580. He finished second in doubles (48), second in games played (155), third in walks (92), fourth in batting average (.383) and sixth in triples (11) amongst the Blue Jays' all-time greats.
His all-region honor from D3baseball.com was Fackler's third in four seasons, but his first First Team selection. He is the first Blue Jay voted to the First Team since D3baseball.com started naming All-Region Teams in 2012. Fackler returns to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team for a second consecutive season.
