TOWSON, Md. – Susquehanna University senior Samantha Thompson has been selected as the 2019 Landmark Women’s Golf Senior Scholar Athlete.
As a junior, and the first year the River Hawks competed in the Landmark, Thompson was named to the All-Landmark First Team after she shot 97-96 – 193 over two days to finish sixth.
At the 2019 conference championships, she shot a 102 during the opening round, and followed that up with an 87 to close out her career. Overall, she finished with a score of 189 to take ninth and earn Second Team All-Landmark honors. The senior competed all four years at Susquehanna while battling cancer.
In the classroom, Thompson has maintained a 3.76 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in art history, and advertising and marketing. She is a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, and Alpha Lambda Delta, Lambda Pi Eta, and Omicron Delta Kappa honor societies.
The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, faculty athletic representatives, senior woman administrators, and sports information directors.
