Midori Fujitani Named Landmark Men's Tennis Senior Scholar Athlete
TOWSON, Md. – Goucher College’s Midori Fujitani has been named the 2017 Landmark Men’s Tennis Senior Scholar Athlete. He is the third Gopher to receive the honor, joining Seth Hoesman (2016) and David Spivey (2014).
Fujitani went 15-5 in singles as a senior, becoming Goucher’s all-time leader in singles with 64 wins. Fujitani primarily played at No. singles this year, as the Gophers earned the programs second conference championship.
Off the court, Fujitani boasted a 3.62 grade-point average as an international relations major. He was named to Chi Alpha Sigma last year and was retained this year for maintaining a 3.40 GPA.
The Landmark Conference selects 20 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
The honorees must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, faculty athletic representatives, senior woman administrators, and sports information directors. Chosen at the end of each sport season, the eight spring honorees will be announced over the next week.
