Madison McCall Named Landmark Women's Tennis Senior Scholar Athlete
TOWSON, Md. – Elizabethtown’s Madison McCall has been selected as the 2017 Landmark Women’s Tennis Senior Scholar Athlete. She is the fourth Blue Jay senior to be honored this year.
McCall will leave Elizabethtown with 116 career victories across singles and doubles, a total which ranks her tied for third all-time in program history. She spent the last season playing at both the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. McCall was a Second Team All-Landmark selection for singles and a First Team selection in doubles this spring. The Blue Jays went 6-1 in conference matches this season, defeating Scranton 5-0 in the Landmark championship match on May 7.
While her on-court success is impressive, McCall has been equally or even more extraordinary in the classroom. She maintained a 3.85 grade-point average while majoring in international business. She earned a spot on the Landmark Academic Honor Roll team in each of her eligible semesters and earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors in 2015 and 2016. She is an Elizabethtown College Emergent Scholar.
McCall serves as a college tour guide, a student senate representative, a peer academic advisor is in the Alpha Lamba Delta and Delta Mu Delta Honors Society.
The Landmark Conference selects 20 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
The honorees must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, faculty athletic representatives, senior woman administrators, and sports information directors. Chosen at the end of each sport season, the eight spring honorees will be announced over the next week.
