TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference announced the 2022 Women's Soccer Awards, as voted on by the league's eight head coaches.
Offensive Player of the Year - Niamh Healy (University of Scranton)
Defensive Player of the Year - Marley Clendenin (Susquehanna University)
Rookie of the Year - Paisley Tornatore (Susquehanna University)
Coaching Staff of the Year - University of Scranton (Colleen Pivirotto)
After being named Rookie of the Year in 2021, Healy earns her second major award, this time, Offensive Player of the Year.
The junior, who is the sixth Royal to be named, ranked second in the league in goals scored with 10. She scored at least one goal in eight games this fall, including a multiple-goal effort at Catholic University (2) and Goucher College (2). Of her 10 goals this season, seven have been game-winners.
Clendenin is the first player to earn back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year honors, and the third straight River Hawk to be selected. Former teammate Madi Welliver won the award in 2019 while Clendenin was named the last two years.
The graduate student anchored an SU backline that conceded just 11 goals in 19 games this season, including just allowing two goals against conference opponents. More impressively, she helped the River Hawks post 11 straight shutouts from September 14 to October 19.
Tornatore played in 14 games for the River Hawks with a 10-4 record, while making 50 saves and allowing just seven goals. She was part of the defensive unit that posted 11 straight shutouts, playing in nine of those contests. Tornatore is just the second River Hawk to earn Rookie of the Year accolades, joining Anna Werner (2018).
Pivirotto guided Scranton to their third straight Landmark Women's Soccer title and ninth overall for the program. The Royals finished the regular season with a 7-0 record to clinch the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. Scranton is riding a 10-game win streak heading into the NCAA Tournament.
Scranton and Susquehanna led the all-conference selections with seven, followed by Drew University with five. Catholic and Elizabethtown College each had two selections, and Goucher College had one.
