Landmark Announces Women's Indoor T&F All-Conference

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference announced its 2023 Women's Indoor Track & Field All-Conference Team and major award winners on Wednesday afternoon.

The All-Conference teams are based on finishes at the championships. First-place finishes garner First-Team while second-place finishes earn Second-Team honors. The major awards are nominated and voted on by the league's head coaches after the meet.

Track Performer of the Year: Chloe Yoder (Susquehanna University)

Field Performer of the Year: Maggie Boyer (Susquehanna University)

Rookie of the Year: Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw (Goucher College)

Coaching Staff of the Year: University of Scranton (Eric Bologa)

Yoder helped the River Hawks claim their second Landmark title after winning two gold and one silver medal. The junior earned her first gold in the 200-meter dash before setting a new conference and championship record in the 60-meter hurdles.

She won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.01, while her 8.96 preliminary time set new heights in both the conference and the league championship record books. She beat her own conference record of 8.98 that she set earlier this month at Ithaca College while taking down Goucher's Destiny Philips' time of 9.09 from the 2012 conference championship. Her silver medal came in the 60-meter dash (7.92).

Yoder is the first Track Performer of the Year for the River Hawks since Ashley West, who earned the honor from 2013-15.

Boyer set a new school record to dominate the weight throw at 15.46m (50'8"), beating out the second-place finisher from Moravian University – Margie Rayne – by five feet, five inches. Boyer also went on to capture gold in the shot put with her throw of 11.78m (38'7.75").

The sophomore joins a long list of greats from SU to receive Field Performer of the Year accolades. Boyer is the fifth River Hawks to be bestowed the honor.

Thornton-Fillyaw is the second straight Rookie of the Year for the Gophers. Last year, teammate Carter Hinton-Ayodele was honored. She is also the third student-athlete to be named, joining Hinton-Ayodele (2022) and Destiny Phillips (2012).

In the 800-meter run, Thornton-Fillyaw bettered her own previous school record set two weeks ago while besting Emily Moehringer of Catholic University by 1.09 seconds. Her time of 2:16.77 is the fastest in the Landmark Conference this season and the sixth-fastest recorded in conference history. It was also the second-fastest mark in Landmark Championship history.

Thornton-Fillyaw was also a part of Goucher's 4x400 relay that finished fourth with a time of 4:17.13.

Head Coach Eric Bologa and his staff guided the Royals to a second-place finish in the team standings. Scranton totaled 149.5 points to set a new program-best finish since Scranton started sponsoring track and field as a varsity sport in 2018.
