Track and Field 7/15/2026 12:13:57 PM Drew Athletic Communications Camlet Becomes First Academic All-American in Drew Track & Field History GREENWOOD, Ind. – Emily Camlet has earned yet another major award for her outstanding athletic and academic achievements as a member of the Drew University women's track & field and cross country programs. The senior has been named as a First Team Division III Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-American, as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). In the process, she becomes the 21st CSC Academic All-American at Drew University and the first since Daniel Blumenthal C'23 of the men's tennis team was a second-team selection in 2023. In addition, Camlet becomes the first Ranger (women's or men's) in the three-year history of Drew track & field to earn CSC Academic All-America honors. She is also just the second women's cross country runner to garner the award, joining Sherry McBride C'91, who captured first-team recognition in 1991. Camlet is also the first Ranger to collect CSC First Team Academic All-America honors since Jeramie Barletta C'13 (softball) in 2013. Camlet was one of 45 student-athletes to make the team and was the lone representative from the Landmark Conference and colleges in New Jersey. She was chosen as an Academic All-America finalist last month after earning a spot on the CSC Division III Academic All-District Team. An Italian Studies and Statistics double major with a 4.0 GPA, Camlet was also honored as the Landmark Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field Senior Scholar-Athlete this past March and was a finalist for the Landmark Conference Women's Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year for all sports. Camlet is coming off another outstanding season as a long sprint specialist for the Rangers. She earned her first All-America honor this past spring after placing 13th in the 400-meter dash at the NCAA Division III Championships, and she was also a national qualifier at the NCAA Indoor Championships. She earned four All-Region honors this past season (outdoor – 400-meter dash; indoor – 60-, 200-, and 400-meter dash) and finished the season ranked No. 1 in the Metro Region in the 400 both indoors (55.75) and outdoors (55.97). At the Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships, Camlet was named the Track Athlete of the Year after winning both the 200- and 400-meter dashes. She also captured the Landmark Conference indoor title in the 400 and is now a six-time conference champion. In addition, she competed for the cross country team this past fall after spending the previous three seasons as a member of Drew's women's soccer team. Camlet also won a pair of major awards this past May at the Drespy's, Drew annual athletic awards ceremony. She earned the Female Career Athlete of the Year Award and was the female recipient of the Sherman Plato Young Scholar Award. In the classroom, Camlet has earned multiple Landmark Academic Honor Roll recognitions and is a Francis Asbury Scholar, Drew University's top academic award. She is also a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, Pi Mu Epsilon, and Gamma Kappa Alpha, making the Dean's List every semester. Camlet's leadership and community involvement are just as extensive. She serves as President of the Drew University Cultural Italian American Organization, participates in the University's Dance Company, and is a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative. She mentored incoming student-athletes through the Peer Mentor Program and created a charitable initiative, "Bracelets for Alzheimer's," raising funds for the Alzheimer's Association. In addition, she works professionally as a dancer with the Bridget Ryan Dance Company and has served as a substitute teacher in North Brunswick Township Schools.
