Softball All-Conference Teams Announced

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference announced its 2023 Softball All-Conference Teams and award winners, as nominated and voted on by the league's seven head coaches on Thursday afternoon.

Player of the Year - Molly O'Brien (Drew University)

Pitcher of the Year - Bailey Comeau (Drew University)

Rookie of the Year - Sarah DeStefano (Moravian University)

Coaching Staff of the Year - Juniata College (McKenna Garlock)

O'Brien is the first Drew softball player to be selected as the Landmark Player of the Year. The senior, who also earned her first All-Conference First Team honor as an outfielder, started in all 39 games for the Rangers this season. She hit an impressive .415, which was just one of six players across the conference to do so. She led the league with nine home runs and ended the season with 28 RBI, four triples, and scored 44 runs. On the base path, O'Brien was a threat all season, swiping 35 bags in 36 chances.

Comeau ends her stellar career as a Ranger as she earns the program's first-ever Landmark Pitcher of the Year accolades. The senior put together a solid season for Drew, going 11-4 from the circle with an ERA of 1.69 and a league-leading 132 strikeouts. In her final outing on May 6, Comeau recorded her 300th strikeout, becoming just the third pitcher in team history to reach the 300 mark. Her 132 punchouts for the season are the second-most in team history.

DeStefano joins a long list of Greyhounds to earn Landmark Rookie of the Year honors. In the 15-year history of the conference, DeStefano is the ninth player from Moravian to be selected. She is the second straight selection for the Greyhounds, joining current teammate Madi Cunningham (2022). The pitcher helped Moravian to a 10-2 conference record and lock in the top seed and the right to host in the upcoming Landmark Softball Championship. In the circle, DeStefano compiled an overall record of 13-2 with an ERA of 2.01 and 71 strikeouts. She is also a dual threat for the Greyhounds, hitting .343 with 13 RBI.

First-year head coach
McKenna Garlock and her staff guided the Eagles to an 18-14 overall record and a 6-6 mark in the conference. JC narrowly missed qualifying for the conference postseason after ending in a tie for fourth place with Scranton. The Royals swept the Eagles earlier in the season and broke the head-to-head tiebreaker. Juniata's 18 wins are the sixth-best in program history.
