Susquehanna Men's Track & Field Score Big Towards Fourth Straight Landmark Outdoor Title

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Day two of the Landmark Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships commenced Sunday under continued rainy conditions at Elizabethtown. Despite the damp conditions, the River Hawks gave the Susquehanna faithful some competitive fire winning eight more winning events for a weekend total of nine and dominating the team leaderboard with 227 points to capture its fourth consecutive Landmark Conference outdoor title.

The men also crowded up the major awards category, winning three of the four with Mason Winslow receiving Rookie of the Year, Brandon Zimmerman Track Athlete of the Year, and head coach Ethan Senecal and staff receiving the Coaching Staff of the year. Winslow and Zimmerman were also on hand to make history as part of the winning 4x100 team that broke the championship and facility record as they, Austin Hurrell, and Dominic Santos ran a season-best 41.32.

The first podium performances went to athletes Keith Green III, Jackson Mabry and Ethan Roe in the triple jump. After taking gold in the long jump on Saturday, Green made it a sweep in the sand pits garnering first place with a season best of 14.25 meters for 25th-best in the country. Mabry took third place with 13.51 meters and Roe a personal record of 12.24 meters, good for seventh place. In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Micah Zellers finished in eighth place with a personal record of 10:22.81, while in the high jump Bryce Ellinger took third place at 1.94 meters and Marcus Moyer fourth jumping 1.89 meters.

After taking gold in the shot put during the indoor championships, Cole Goodwin lived up to his billing dominating the outdoor throwing circle with a season-high 14.43 meters. Senior Ryan MacDonald made the podium also in the shot with a fifth-place mark of 12.88 meters. Fellow thrower Tyler Hauk won the discus throw after hitting 44.18 meters, while Goodwin make it a 1-2 punch for Susquehanna in the event throwing for 43.53 meters in second place.

The wins continued to pile up on the track, as Zimmerman and Winslow were on hand for more top marks. Zimmerman won the 110-meter hurdles with his finals time of 15.32, leading four River Hawks in the top five. Ezra Miller joined him in the top three taking third at 15.54, while Benjamin Bulger finished fourth at 15.69 and Charless Montross fifth place at 15.83. Elliott Davis ran to a first-place finish in his speciality in the 400 meter with a 49.22, while Winslow PR'd in third place with a time of 49.55. Zimmerman came around again in the 100 meters, finishing with a time of 10.99 in fourth place. Ian Anderson PRs in the 800 meter with 2:00.85.

Bulger took first place in the 400mH with his season best of 54.61, now currently ranking 43rd in Division III. Zimmerman was again near the top, finishing behind him in second at 55.91. Blake Shellenberger took in a season best of 59.24 and Justin Weychert a personal best of 59.49. Santos took fifth place in the 200-meter finals at 22.49 and Winslow finishing in seventh at 22.54. Evander Lackman finished in eighth place during the 5K race with a time of 15:43.04.

The day wrapped up with the 4x400 relay. With victory in grasp, the men drove in the last spike as the team consisting of Winslow, Kareem Beck, Zimmerman and Davis ran a collective time of 3:22.28.

Sunday marked the fourth consecutive outdoor championship for the men dating back to 2021 and the fourth under head coach Ethan Senecal and his staff.

With many key performances and highlights under their belt, their season is far from over as plenty of River Hawks will make the trip to Upstate New York in mid-May for the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Championships, hosted by SUNY Cortland, from Wednesday, May 15 to Thursday, May 16.
