TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference selects 23 senior scholar-athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, athletic communications, and diversity, ethnicity, and inclusion designee.
The University of Scranton's Emily Hopkins has been a key member of the Royals' cross country program while maintaining strong academic performance as a Kinesiology major with a 3.63 grade point average. She is just the third Royal to receive this honor, joining Stephanie Huth (2009) and Jessica Hoffmann (2021).
Hopkins helped Scranton win the 2022 Landmark Conference Championship and has earned three Landmark All-Conference honors during her career. She received Second Team in 2022 and First Team selections in both 2024 and 2025. Hopkins also picked up USTFCCCA All-Region recognition in 2025, placing 27th, rounding out the strongest season of her career.
Academically, Hopkins is a three-time USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete (2022, 2023, 2024), recognizing her consistent work in the classroom.
Off the course, Hopkins has been heavily involved in community service and leadership. As the Community Coordinator for the Healthy Kids Running at the Scranton, Pa. location, Hopkins manages finances, registration, race setup, timing and placements, weekly announcements, and awards. She also participates in national meetings with other coordinators to help improve and support the organization's mission.
Hopkins also works at Pivot Physical Therapy as a Physical Therapy Aide, where she assists therapists by preparing equipment, helping patients through their exercise programs, and maintaining the clinic's organization and appearance.
