III Second Round Saturday night at Crenshaw Gymnasium. Allyia Kennedy had a team-high 15 points. The Yellow Jackets held the lead for 15 minutes of first-half time, including 17-10 toward the end of the first, their largest lead of the first half. Kennedy helped keep Elizabethtown close, drilling a jumper to make it 17-12. Then, after Grace O'Connor's steal, Kennedy drove to the bucket for two more. Cyleigh Wilson tied the game at 17-17 with a three to open the second quarter. Both teams put up 21 points each in the second quarter as RMC maintained their three-point lead at the half, 38-35. Every time Etown tried to get closer to the Yellow Jackets, they had an answer at the other end. Bella Bruce finished out the third quarter with a three from the right wing to put the hosts up nine going into the fourth. The Blue Jays showcased their resiliency as they held Randolph-Macon scoreless for over half the quarter while shooting their way back into the game. Wilson knocked down a three and had eight fourth-quarter points. Lindsay Boyd hit a pull-up jumper from the bench side baseline and Kennedy hit a jumper to cut the deficit to one, 49-48, with six minutes to go. Elizabethtown claimed the lead on Wilson's second three of the quarter and then went up four after Wilson drove right side for the layup. From there, RMC made it tough to get points as they held the Jays without a point for nearly three minutes to close out the game. They went on a 7-0 run to retake the lead and hit some late free throws to ensure the pathway to the Sweet 16 was theirs. Wilson finished in double figures for EC with 11 points (3-5 3PT). Elizabethtown ends the season 23-5 overall with their third tournament appearance in the last four years.
