This past season, Drew University Men’s Soccer Head Coach Lenny Armuth reached a major milestone when he registered career victory No. 400 at Drew with the Rangers’ 1-0 victory over Western Connecticut on Sept. 4.

With the win, he became just the seventh active NCAA Division III men's soccer coach to reach 400 wins and is just the 24th Division III men’s soccer coach to hit the mark.

Now heading into his 32nd year at the helm, Armuth has amassed a tremendous career record of 405-156-60, good for a .700 winning percentage. In addition, he posted a 61-20-9 record as the head women’s soccer coach at Kean University over five seasons from 1988-92.

“Drew has been a very special place for me,” said Armuth following his milestone win. “I’m very thankful for all of the relationships I have made with the student-athletes, assistant coaches, administrators, and everybody here. They have all helped get the program where it is. I would also like to thank [Drew Director of Athletics] Christa Racine, who has been a phenomenal leader and role model ever since I’ve been at Drew.”

“Since the beginning Lenny has been instrumental in the overall success of our athletic department,” said Racine, who was also Drew’s women’s soccer head coach from 1994-2023. “He now serves as a mentor and a leader to a lot of our young coaches. It’s been awesome being with him through all 400 wins – I have been honored to have coached alongside him all of these years.

“He credits a lot of people who deserve credit, but he deserves so much of this honor,” continued Racine. “His relentless work in recruiting and his commitment to his players, the program, and the University have been amazing.”

Armuth arrived at Drew in the fall of 1994 after a one-year stint as the top assistant men’s soccer coach at Rutgers University following his tenure at Kean. In just his fourth season at The Forest, he led the Rangers to an ECAC title, and one year later guided the Blue and Green to the Middle Atlantic Conference title, defeating nationally-ranked Messiah 1-0. He guided the Rangers through their transition to the Landmark Conference and led Drew to conference titles in both 2007 and 2017.

For his career, Armuth has racked up nine conference coach of the year awards, two United Soccer Coaches Regional Coach of the Year honors, and an ECAC Coach of the Year trophy. In addition, he was selected as the United Soccer Coaches Division III National Coach of the Year in 2003, when he led the Rangers to perhaps the top season by any team in the history of Drew Athletics when it reached the NCAA Division III championship game before finishing as the national runner-up.

In total, Armuth’s Rangers have captured nine conference titles and three ECAC crowns while reaching the NCAA Division III Championships on nine occasions.
