Men's Soccer 12/9/2024 12:30:00 PM Catholic & Juniata Athletic Communications Tanaka, Woodings Named to United Soccer Coaches All-America Teams KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches (USC) unveiled its 2024 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer All-America teams, with two student-athletes from the Landmark Conference earning recognition. Shawn Tanaka of Juniata College was named a United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American, while Holden Woodings of The Catholic University of America earned a spot on the Fourth Team. Tanaka’s recognition adds to an already impressive list of accolades, including United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Region, Landmark Rookie of the Year, First Team All-Landmark, and Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship MVP. He finished the season leading the Landmark Conference in game-winning goals (7), ranking second in goals (12), third in points (29), and tied for sixth in assists (5). Notably, Tanaka contributed a goal or assist in 12 of the team’s final 14 matches, including the last six games of the season. His 12 goals are tied for second-most in program history in a single season, while his 29 points also rank second in the program’s single-season record books. Tanaka is the first All-American in Juniata men's soccer history. Woodings, already the 2024 Landmark Offensive Player of the Year, USC First Team All-Region selection, and First Team All-Landmark honoree, is the ninth player in Catholic University’s history to receive All-America recognition, and the first since Darius Siahpoosh (2022, Second Team). As a forward, Woodings was named to the Fourth Team after a historic offensive campaign. He scored 15 goals this season, leading the Landmark Conference and ranking 27th nationally. His 15 goals are tied for third-most in a single season in Catholic’s Division III history. Woodings also registered nine goals in nine conference matches, helping propel the Cardinals to a second-place finish in the Landmark Conference standings. Woodings' standout season included scoring the first hat trick for Catholic University since 2019 in a 3-0 win over Susquehanna, one of his three multi-goal performances. He netted goals in 11 matches, helping Catholic to a 7-1-3 record in those contests. His remarkable run of 10 goals in seven matches during October was a key factor in the Cardinals' successful push toward the Landmark Conference Tournament.
