TOWSON, Md. - Friday Focus is the Landmark Conference’s weekly student-athlete spotlight, giving us a chance to get to know the people who make up our conference both on and off the field.

This week, we’re catching up with Lycoming College football student-athlete Christian Austin, who shares how his perspective has evolved, the lessons he’s learned from his mom, and the legacy he hopes to leave as a leader and friend. Christian also talks about his love of travel, his goal of visiting every Major League Baseball stadium, and a few of his favorite things away from football.

What's something people might be surprised to learn about you, and why is it important to you?
Something people might be surprised to learn about me is that I love country music; where I grew up in South Philly, there were not many people listening to country music. I think my listening to country music shows how much I've grown as a person and how I've been trying to do things differently than how most people I grew up around would.

If you weren't competing in football, what sport would you choose and why?
If I wasn't playing football, I would want to play hockey. Growing up, I always loved playing street hockey, but I was never good at skating, so I never gave hockey a try.

What's one item on your bucket list and what makes it meaningful to you?
One thing I like to do is travel, so something I want to do is visit every MLB stadium.

Who inspires you the most and what have you learned from them?
My mom inspires me the most because no matter what, she will do what she has to do to make others happy. One thing I learned from her is that hard work can get you what you want, and there are no limitations on what you can do.

What kind of legacy do you hope to leave at Lycoming?
I hope people remember me as a good leader and friend.
